Games you would LOVE to see an HD remake of
Posted by: Kole T. Merr - 03-11-2013, 06:30 PM - Forum: Other Games - Replies (26)

Ok. I was thinking this morning about Kingdom Hearts 1.5HD, and how awesome it's going to be to be able to play it on my PS3. It got me to thinking about some other older games that would be fucking awesome to play on your current system.

For example, I would love an HD remake of the Rogue Squadron Trilogy. I remember getting my first GPU...it had like 32MB of memory and was AGP. I wanted it SO BAD so that I could play Rogue Squadron. I would pay money for an HD collection.

Anyone else have any awesome games that would be sweet on your current rig?

  So new Mafia?
Posted by: Mal Nova - 03-09-2013, 08:07 AM - Forum: Chubbs Mafia - Replies (10)

Doe you making it? Or should I?

The next one I will make is Lythian Themed. I have a list of characters that I have used throughout the years on other sites(one to be specific). So no one knows them to be any kind of alliance or have much background of them at all. Unless you read when I post things>_>

  On Dystopian Fiction
Posted by: Valora Crow - 03-09-2013, 02:28 AM - Forum: The Legendary Asylum - Replies (11)

Here's my question: Can you think of any work of dystopian fiction that is set on a planet other than Earth? And not a sci-fi, we're on Mars, but we're originally from Earth. Just purely set in a different universe.

I've been thinking on this for weeks, and I can't come up with any examples that are divorced from Earth. I'm wondering now if the nature of a dystopian work is rooted in our inhabiting the same space. Like, in Hunger Games, we know District 12 is in the Appalachians, and comparing its current condition to how it's portrayed in the book stirs a reaction in us. Is that the backbone of the genre?

With a laugh and a shrug, Peach put the noose around her own neck. She had tried her best, but it was clear now that neither Wart nor Mario would be dissuaded from their decision. Moments later and the deed was done. Peach was dead, and the evidence of her affiliation was found on her.

Suddenly, the two came to a realization. Not only were they the only people still alive, but they had killed off all the women. So, with a laugh and a shrug, the two clasped hands and walked off into the sunset, eager for the man-love to follow.

Mario - Ashe

Townie

Ability: Dr. Mario
-You can target a single player to protect per Night Phase. Activated Night Phase Ability.

Luigi - Rafael

Townie

Ability: Green Shell
- You can target a single player per night phase to eliminate. Activated Night Phase Ability.

Toad - Dehan

Townie

Ability: 1-Up
-If an ability, lynch vote, or Mafia execution would result in your death, you don't die. At this time, your identity will become known, but not your allegiance. One Time Use Ability.

Peach - Teemer

Mafia

Ability: Body Guards
-Once in the game, you may PM me that you want protection. Until the end of that phase, you are immune to all abilities to remove you from the game. You must PM me prior to the end of the Phase for this ability to work. Activated One Time Use Ability.

Shy Guy - Mal Nova

Townie

Ability: Easily Overlooked
- Once a night, you may investigate a person of your choice, revealing their allegiance (T or M). Activated Night Phase Ability.

Birdo - Kayne

Mafia

Ability: Resemblance
-When investigated, you come up as a Townie. Passive Ability.

Mouser - King B

Townie

Ability: They all look the same to me.
-You can vote twice during the Day Phase. One via the thread and the second vote will be PMd to me. Activated Day Phase Ability.

Wart - John Doe

Townie

Ability: Froggy King
-Once in the entire game, you have the ability to lynch a person of your choice instead of the choice of the group. You must PM your decision to me prior to the end of the Day Phase and it doesn't take effect until the Day Phase has ended. Activated One Time Use Day Phase Ability.

Pokey - Kaden

Townie

Ability: Prickly
-When targetted by the Mafia for a kill, but not any other ability to kill a player, you take one of them down with you. Passive Ability.

Not gonna explain anything this time, but there's the stuff for everyone. To be honest, I'm shocked the town won. Once everyone was on the "Kayne must be innocent" boat, and no one voiced any suspicions of Teemer, I assumed ya'll were fucked. But, if I had to give a reason for the win, it would have to be everyone telling everyone their power. Once ya'll started with that, the tide really started turning against the Mafia.

Though, I was still shocked when Doe sent me his nearly last minute ability use to use on Kayne. Even after 90% of the Townies having their abilities confirmed.

The Mafia mighta been one man down, but they certainly weren't out. They proved it during the Night, slaying everyone's favorite mushroom-headed weirdo. A 1-Up mighta saved him once, but apparently he only had a limited supply. And maybe the 57 stab wounds weren't necessary, but they helped to get the message across, yeah?

The message being: fuck you guys.

So, to summarize. Toad dead. New phase. Get it on, bitches! It'll last until Friday 5pm EST, allowing you less time to figure out what you wanna do. The last couple day phases were a bit long, so I figured it might be time to shorten em up a bit.

Super Mafia Bros. 2 Nightmare 4
Posted by: Blue - 03-07-2013, 01:07 PM - Forum: Chubbs Mafia - No Replies

The moment of truth had arrived. Wart chortled softly to himself, watching as the town moved like puppets to his tune. And it didn't even matter that he mixed his euphemisms. They gathered around the one he claimed was Mafia, poking and prodding the poor fool and it was all Wart could do not to roll along the ground, laughing up a storm.

Shortly enough, they had the noose around the guy's neck, and in but a moment the deed would be done and everyone would head off for bed.

"WAIT!" Wart shouted, a grin on his lips. "I changed my mind."

Pointing into the crowd, he decreed, "Lynch her instead."

Blinking in confusion, the town shrugged and let the guy go, instead latching tightly onto Birdo. The poor transvestite creature didn't even have a chance to plead her case. She was strung up faster than the Japanese can eat hotdogs. Something was different this time, however.

Usually their cursory inspections of the body revealed nothing of import, but this time they found a single note. It read: "Boss. Whacked that mouse fer ya. He won't be botherin' ya no mores. Heh heh heh..."

And while they mused over why someone would take the time to write their wry chuckle, night fell and they all headed off for bed, much happier now that they had managed to catch one of the dreaded Mafioso.

Nightmare Phase, fellas. 24 hours. Yadda yadda. Friday 8 AM EST, or until I get all your actions in. Be there, or be square.

  I wish...
Posted by: Victoria - 03-06-2013, 08:37 PM - Forum: The Legendary Asylum - Replies (4)

I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way about this. Also, maybe to make this fun, people could also include what it is they wished would happen or was possible.

I wish that it was possible to format forum posts like novels. I've always tried very hard to self-edit and proof all my stuff, it became a big thing for me. I saw it as my posts being something people read like they would a book so why not make it at least legible?

I've tried for years to figure out a way to make forum posts look formatted like a word document (indented paragraphs, more specifically). I think the only way to do it is by using a spacer gif/png to add the space at the beginning of each paragraph.

Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest Smile.

Deep in his hole, Mouser slept peacefully, confident that he was safe hidden away in the walls. After all, the Mafia hadn't killed anyone last night and it was obvious that they had simply given up. And even if they hadn't, who would take the time to whack a mouse with sunglasses. Hell, based on looks alone, he was 90% Mafia already.

His confidence would prove to be his undoing, however. Waking from a blissful dream, he immediately smelled the cheese. Still groggy, he barely wondered where it might have came from before hunting it down. When he found it, the part of his brain the registered fear immediately cried out. Unfortunately, his mousey instincts drove him on, each step taking his inexorably towards the mouse trap laid in plain sight on the floor. With a snippy snap, the deed was done and soft laughter accompanied the death of Mouser.

In the morning, the town would see that Mouser was missing and the aura of fear which they had temporarily thrown off came back two-fold. They knew that to make a mistake from here on could spell disaster. They had to start getting their guesses right.

Dream phase guys, and thanks for being understanding. I'm trying to fix my sleep schedule at the moment, so I'm not up all night anymore. As such, this phase will last until 8 am EST on Thursday. Have fun!

As I mentioned in Mal's Author thread, I'm looking to start getting some schooling in programming. I know we have a strong base of programmers, artists, and other essential personel here already. So, I think to myself, "Self, you have at hand a community of creative, driven, and talented folks. Is it such a big jump to turn a community of writers and artists into a game development group?"

And, of course, the answer is no. And while I have no programming experience outside of basic stuff and binary/hexadecimal, I'm eager to start learning quick and plan to get me some study materials from the internets. So, I suppose the purpose of this would be to ask who would be interested in working on making some games? If so, what skills and talents do you bring to the table?

And don't sell yourself short, any of you. Even the ability to beta test is a skill that's useful in creating a game. Of course, artists and programmers would be optimal, but I'd love if we could get every single person on the site into a project into the future.
