The Fighting Thread - Celena - 06-28-2010 The light heavyweight division is where it's at. The Fighting Thread - Mr. Zhu - 06-28-2010 Rod Hardwood Wrote:the last noteworthy fight fedor had was against crocop... back in 2005. sure, he's had a decade-long win streak, but half of that time he was fighting nobodies or beating the odds against fighters that the UFC has gotten rid of years ago. I can't believe you think Lyoto Machida's loss was a winged by Shogun. I guess you also think Rich Franklin's Liddell knockout was a fluke. Fuck that, if you think that you should just stop watching MMA. The Fighting Thread - Celena - 06-28-2010 Shogun already proved that he was better that Machida in their first fight. Lol.. Honestly? You thought Lyoto controlled that fight? Even though the hits by Shogun weren't clear shots, but 2 minutes into the fight he had already hurt Lyoto once with a straight. Then Lyoto took him down for the second time, and to be honest, that wasn't a real takedown. Shogun tried to shift weight and hip toss him, but did not have the leverage and the technique blackfired into a "takedown" by Lyoto. Throughout the first 3 minutes of the fight, Lyoto landed nothing but two knees one solid straight in the first 15 seconds and one half-assed elbow when he was on top. Shogun swept him with complete ease and got the fight standing up almost immediately after being taken down. You should really hop off Lyoto's nuts and watch the fight with your eyes. You can evade as many hits in a fight as you want, but if you're not throwing or landing you're not winning a fight from pure evasion. Also, to counter the "puncher's chance" bullshit, Shogun located Lyoto's chin and hurt him once already before the eventually finish. When it happens once it's chance, when it happens again it's truth. The Fighting Thread - Pinky - 06-29-2010 Mr. Zhu Wrote:Lol.. Honestly? You thought Lyoto controlled that fight? When it happens once it's chance, when it happens again it's truth.lyoto was using an attrition style. two takedowns where he never lost top position, forcing shogun to carry both of them up in order to get the fight back into standup (where machida wants it to be), it's pretty obvious that fighting on the ground was not machida's strategy. but whatever. you start off by exaggerating a punch that hit lyoto, downplay shogun's silly throw attempt that failed against a "hurt" machida as well as machida always getting the better of the ground game, and even after admitting to some of lyoto's attacks (the two best strikes in his arsenal being body-knees in the clinch and straight counters) you then claim that he wasn't throwing OR landing, without addressing how his evasion was dictating the pace of the standup... :/ The Fighting Thread - Celena - 07-03-2010 The big one tonight. I can't wait. Carwin will win by TKO. The Fighting Thread - Jesper - 07-03-2010 I want to see Brock get knocked the fuck out. I would cry tears of joy. The Fighting Thread - Celena - 07-03-2010 I know mang. The Fighting Thread - Mr. Zhu - 07-03-2010 I agree Brock needs get knoooooooocked! The Fighting Thread - Jesper - 07-04-2010 If anyone can do it, it's Carwin. That dude is a beast. The Fighting Thread - Celena - 07-04-2010 Best, promo, ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dCf8LXuMS8&feature=player_embedded The Fighting Thread - Pinky - 07-04-2010 http://www.lolfunny.net/ good, clean stream. Harris from the prelims was awesome to watch. Not really that impressive as a fighter, but I like him. The Fighting Thread - Mr. Zhu - 07-04-2010 Spoiler Alert. WOW! Not at all happy with the outcome of the event. Was rooting for Carwin and Sexyama. Oh wellz. The Fighting Thread - Pinky - 07-04-2010 Was rooting for Lebon and Carwin. I was losing my mind during Akiyama/Lebon, it was like a god damn movie. Of course they are both tenacious, but the punishment they were taking was superhuman. Reminded me of Forrest vs Rua during the finish, come to think of it Forrest and Chris both came from TUF1 :O. I'll be very disappointed if that doesn't get FotN. Didn't think Brock would be able to take that kind of damage. Hell, I didn't think anybody could. Props to him I guess, very disappointed in Carwin's lack of stamina. The Fighting Thread - Jesper - 07-04-2010 I was disappointed, too, but Carwin's never been out of the first round, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised The Fighting Thread - Psyren - 07-04-2010 Jayd Wrote:I was disappointed, too, but Carwin's never been out of the first round, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised As a Lesnar fan. I am impressed. He's no God of fighting but he did what i expected him to do step in and take it and deal it back. The Fighting Thread - Celena - 07-04-2010 Credit to Brock for absorbing so much punishment, and credit to the ref for not stopping the fight. Now that Carwin knows what it feels like to step into round two, he's going to have to improve his stamina. The Fighting Thread - Jesper - 07-04-2010 That and he should realize when his punches aren't doing any damage. He should have pulled back a bit and paced himself after it was clear that Brock was guarding himself well enough. He just punched himself out. That said, Brock won the fight fair and square, but I'm not completely won over. I'd like to see a rematch. |
