Forgotten realms is great, but I don't get the next book till October The series with Drizzit.
Books - Tobias - 08-24-2004 Id just like to note I was reading LotR long before they made It into a movie. Im an old school LotR fan. Also... 18 its Drizzt. You could be talking about the Dark Elf Trilogy, Icewind Dale Triology, Hunters Blade Series, or any of the other thousand books about drizzt. If the next one your getting is a drizzt one then your talking about "The Hunters Blade" Thats the latest series. I disliked the Simarillion... *shurgs.* Books - Tobias - 08-24-2004 I dont read only books that I believe can happen, I read and write to escape the toils and general crap that i the real world. Thats why I like fantasy. Books - Raditzu - 08-24-2004 Favorite Author: Robert A. Heinlein Favorite Book: Number of the Beast I only have about 8 or 9 of his books, but I'm trying to get all of them. Books - Drake - 08-24-2004 Quote:Originally posted by Frieza Possibly because it was about 16 billion years worth of histry in one small book =x Books - Drake - 08-24-2004 Quote:Originally posted by Frieza It's very brief by comparison, but your explination is undoubtedly shorter. Books - Burter - 08-24-2004 T.A. Barron's Lost Years of Merlin Series. Its for teenagers, but man it rules Books - Broli - 08-24-2004 I liked the Shannara series. I also like C.S. Lewis. Books - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 08-24-2004 Quote:Originally posted by Jackie Chun (Roshi) Though you may not believe it I do read. I love the LotR books and I have read the hobbit which I thought was good. I also like Stephan King and Anthony Horowitz. Not many will know who Anthony Horowitz is but I like his books. They are action and most of you would probably be like "That's gay!" Or something like that. I like them though. He has made a small series. Edit: How could I have not said this? Luo Guanzhong w00t! Go RoTK!! Books - Tobias - 08-24-2004 *The Dragon Riders of Pern. I only read the origional three but they were good books. Books - Tobias - 08-24-2004 I dont think there are any LotR fans that havent read The Hobbit, if so for shame! Books - Amadeus - 08-25-2004 Frieza, you can have your opinion. Not every person likes Lotr, i realize that. When I said "Tolkien all the way" I meant all of his works. Lotr is just the most famous one. Hobbit is great and I will certainly read it to my kids, Silmarillion explains the history of ME quite well trough a series of stories. And the Tree and leaf also has quite good stories. Everything else from Tolkien I couldnt get, but they are of scientifical nature. If we count out that Tolkien also translated Beowulf. Frieza, Im afraid I cannot agree with your opinion. I think that every character has a personality of his own in LOTR. For example Frodo, he is of strong will, but isnt very social and mostly keeps to himself. Books - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 08-25-2004 Quote:Originally posted by Jackie Chun (Roshi) You have kids? o_o' Cool. Books - Amadeus - 08-25-2004 Say what you will, Characters have personalities. And that is the base, if you want to understand the true message of Lotr. |
