Nah, it's legit. People have been talking about it since a leak was released in January from a magazine in Hong Kong.

That's the official site, for anyone who reads japanese.

While I'd be excited to play a decent translation of the first Persona game, the PSP seems like a poor choice for a port. The Persona games just aren't very... mobile.

Fffffffffffffffffff. I don't want to get the PSP solely so I could play Persona, b-but...Gahhh, I'm so conflicted.

EDIT: I heard that this version will be uncensored. Is that the case? =O

Depends on what you mean by "uncensored."

I haven't heard anyone use that term, specifically.

Whoops. Sorry for not specifying. Anyway, I was just curious if this version would be more tastefully censored. Apparently they kind of butchered the localization/translation for the PS1 version (thankfully it was still pretty popular)

Yeah, I've seen Persona 1 referenced as the worst translation ever in more than one place.

Got this off wiki:
Quote: On February 24, 2009, Atlus U.S.A. announced that they were localizing the PSP remake featuring a completely redone localization and content never before seen in North America (along with the other changes in the Japanese PSP remake. This means that unlike the playstation release, the PSP localization will stay as true to Japanese origin of the game as possible).[15] Updates include:

- All the original FMVs will be remade by Kamikaze Douga, and there will be many brand new FMVs as well to enhance the storytelling.

- Shoji Meguro, who will also be serving as the game's director will be arranging all the original BGM and the vocal tracks will feature Yumi Kawamura, the vocalist for the Persona 3 tracks.

- The interface has been fully revamped to take advantage of the full widescreen view for the benefit of all users.

- Both the original scenario and the Snow Queen scenario will contain additional dungeon floors not found in the original. The new dungeon elements will also contain tricky puzzles and extra content for the player to unravel.

- The game has been fully rebalanced to enhance the playing experience from the original version. The encounter rate and dungeon designs have been tweaked as well. There will also be multiple difficulty settings to more player choice.

- Battle animations can now be skipped entirely, and the battle load times have been decreased to 2/3 the time of the original game.

- There will be many more save points available throughout the game, and for portable fans the game will also feature a quicksave feature.

- A new pre-rendered aerial view town map similar to the later Persona franchises will replace the original real-time 3D town map. There is no more random encounter when traveling in the town as well.

Not sure if the info is entirely reliable, but it sounds legit. So yay!
