Class lovin'

Just wanted to see what people thought of the various classes they're playing so far.

Mostly I've been playing a Herald of Xotli named Mara.

I have absolutely no complaints so far. I just hit 15, and I'm getting exactly what I wanted: tons of damage and sweet melee action. Survivability might become a bit of a problem later on, but if my buffs scale at a decent rate, I should be fine. And I'm not planning on soloing all the time, either.

I also played a ranger for, like, an hour and a half. Shooting stuff with a bow was just kind of funny. Half because of how awesome the bow combos are, and half because of how ridiculously over-sized the bows are.

Anyone else wanna share?

I'm right now playing a Demonologist named Miraxa. So far, I can shoot a lot of fire, but I'm only level 6. I've had a tough time with survivability, since a lot of those early quests involve fighting like 5 guys at once. That doesn't work for a Demonologist. I'm looking forward to different classes of spells. Fire is great and all, but some variety will be good.

I've seen a guy use lightning spells. What class is that?

Tempest of Set. That's what I'm playing.

And I feel totally overpowered the whole time. My damage is really good so far and I can heal myself, though if guys get too close I do have to root or stun them and back up because I do not take hits well. Though, I've noticed using a shield makes a pretty big difference.

I'm looking forward to different classes of spells. Fire is great and all, but some variety will be good.

I don't think you're going to get a whole lot of variety. They seem to be more focused on giving each class a handful of spells and combos that they can make really good, instead of having a bunch of stuff to pick from.

I would strongly suggest checking your feat trees (press "n" by default) to see what kind of stuff is coming up. Looking at your trees should give you a good idea of what else you'll be getting, and how you can alter the spells you already have.

Demo also get lightning at some point I believe.

So I got some lightning spells. And my demon. I was kinda hoping the demon could either do damage or at least tank for me, but he does crappy damage and doesn't take aggro at all. At least he gives me a mana boost, which I'm totally ok with.

I'm having trouble deciding what to spec in. Fire is great, but lightning is also a great deal of fun. I got a lightning hold spell.

I suggest reading the Class Interview about the Demonologist. They talk about some of the stuff the demo can do with different feats.

The "Mage" tree is pretty awful, isn't it?

I play a ranger and they pretty much kick ass. If you have a good bow that is.

Almost as much as I knew I was rolling a standard Necro character.

By the way, I'm running around as this amazingly hot chick with two skinless warriors of death.

Bear Shaman can be sort of a pain until you get to 10, but it's a really fun class after that point. You can do really good melee damage while performing excellent HoTs on yourself.

I've heard people whining earlier today that they didn't like having to do the solo quests as a Bear Shaman.

Back when I was first playing through, level 9 trying to do the volcano was tough as Hell.

But when I went through a second time, since I actually was familiar with how to chain combos effectively and utilize my AoE, I did much better.

As my brother often says: people are bad at games. Bear Shaman isn't hard; you just have to not be a noob at it.

I'm still waiting on my vid card. I payed for overnight shipping on Thursday late night, hoping to have it by Sat as a result (giving Friday to process and ship). The card shipped early Friday morning. Its now after midnight rolling from Sat to Sunday, and they have it listed to arrive Tuesday due to the holiday on Monday, right on time for me to have to go back in to work for a straight week. Oh, and its shipped and sitting not 50 miles from me, arrived there before noon when I woke up. But they didn't bother to ship anything out today apparently.

... Seems a little off-topic to me, Reijin. But I have the same issue.

Thinking of not playing until Wednesday, when the final parts for my new box come in. I don't mind the ganking so much as the fact that my computer suddenly chugs whenever someone starts to. I get one frame of someone else on my screen, wait a few seconds for the next frame, then BAM. Dead.

I think when my card gets here I'll go try out a PVP server as a ToS or Assassin.
