Josh, you are trying to get me started aren't you? Aside from this being old, that is, but man I'd love to pull a River Tam on the Bible and send it to Comfort.

I appreciate what he's doing as a Christian, but peddling fundamentalist Young Earth Creationism in a book that decries it is pretty counterproductive.

Oh wow. Couldn't even watch a couple of minutes. You're going to discredit a theory ... by right wing newspaper-ing him? Undeniable connection to HITLER! ATHEIST BRAINWASHING!

I've actually read the introductory. Its stupid. It entirely tries to argue points that are immediately refuted in the book itself. "Its JUST a theory, which means its entirely just an idea he came up with to possibly explain God's miracles." That type of stuff (not a real quote, just a paraphrase). He's a moron.

What I hate are how people use the term 'theory' so lightly. 'Theory' does not equal 'hypothesis.'

*Grumble*

You can't just say 'oh it doesn't matter because it's just a theory.' Gravity's just a theory. -_-

I'm not even arguing evolution one way or the other. All I'm talking about is the apparent disdain for the term 'theory.'

NB: Yeah, I'm aware there's a lot of contention right now as to how gravity works or why there's apparently so little of it, etc, etc, but it's pretty hard to say it's not there.

Basically yeah. Gravity is a theory, in the scientific sense, because it has yet to be disproven by any tests. That said, the distortion of time space accomplishing the same thing as gravity is something that hasn't really been disproven yet either. All tests currently support both of those. This is what a scientific theory (and science) is all about - asking questions and frequently retesting those answers to see if they still hold up and looking at them again.
