I've seen that email before. Some time last year I think it was. Still waiting for that sorta shit to happen. Same thing for my hotmail account to be deleted becuase I didn't sign some stupid patition thing.

The same for those "good luck in sex/love/etc life" emails. Never did do those. HAve I suffered? Nope.

Yeah, um, Jackie? Hate to break it to you, but there's a bunch of virii out there that can fry your hard drive. Most of them don't require something simple like e-mail to spread. Trust me, I know.

Uh... well, no amount of attempting to restore data/reformat the hard drive did anything. Windows no longer existed. Etc, etc. Granted, tech support is utterly useless, so I'm usually on my own in the knowledge and understanding department, but I'm relatively certain the drive was cluster-fucked.

EDIT: I never claimed it was irreparable. Hardly anything is.

Dude, wtf? It happened. I can't tell you how or why it happened, but it sure as hell wasn't negligence.

Although, come to think of it, it probably was because of a different event, which I might have previously forgot. So all my previous points probably make me look like an idiot.

But I do know those kinds of virii exist. It's nothing short of fact.

Well, the only thing I can argue is that it is virii. 'viruses' is grammatically incorrect and has simply become an acceptable term, especially on the internet.

This is such a stupid thing to argue about.

A) A virus can not cause direct physical damage to a computer

B) A virus can alter settings to make things unfixable.

C) If a harddrive is fried, it is not a virus, it is your computer overheating. Extremely rare with new machines but it does happen. Any other reason for it frying is almost unheard of, but again, it does happen.

Now before everyone jumps on me, remember that I repair computers every single day and I own a computer store for a living.
