?You can?t hide from me for very long, you bastard,? Seventeen muttered beneath his breath as he took to the sky in pursuit of Brim.

The android hadn?t traveled very far, yet he still managed to find the hospital, but the inadvertent stop was one he was glad he took. Several yards removed from the dilapidated infirmary was the sword of the avatar. Its normal shine had been dulled by a coating of the android?s dried blood. Seventeen landed beside it and picked up the long sword with his synthetic hand. Swinging the blade through the air in front of him, the cybernetic warrior knew that wielding this sword would signify his final victory over the darkness within his soul. Never again would another avatar have to be sent to assassinate him, because the android intended to never go down that path again. He only hoped he would live long enough to escape the game and live up to that promise. Still clutching the sword in the metallic hand it was responsible for, Android Seventeen took to the sky once again?his quest for Brim reinvigorated.

Seventeen had no idea how much time he spent surveying the endlessness that was Kala?s wastelands, but eventually, he noticed a new building on the horizon. Increasing his speed, the machine-hybrid arrived at the structure a few minutes later. The android dropped from the sky and landed near what could have once been the front door of the facility; however, it was now nothing more then a massive hole in the building. In fact, the entire place looked like it had barely survived a nuclear bombing. Most of the windows were a memory, their glass and wood completely disintegrated in whatever had hit the building. The concrete walls of the derelict were lined with deep fissures, and the fact that the structure was still standing was astonishing.

As the android examined the outside of the facility, he noticed the scattered remains of countless undead. Whatever had almost claimed the building?s life apparently obliterated an entire horde of the animated corpses with it. Charred limbs and organs littered the entire scene, and the smell of burning flesh was virtually unbearable. Nevertheless, Seventeen entered the burned-out structure through the puncture in its north wall and prepared himself for anything that had survived the explosion. The android?s boots echoed with every step he took down the blackened hall. There were even more bodies splattered all over the burnt interior of the building, but the machine-hybrid knew there had to be something special about the place. From the outside it did not seem at all similar to the hospital. On the other hand, it was reminiscent of the Production Building, so Android Seventeen was sure it held some secrets of its own.

Something hit the ground behind the cybernetic warrior, instantly capturing his attention. Turning around, the android walked over to the metal sign. At one point in its existence, the ornate plaque must have been displayed proudly on the wall, but now it was half-melted and barely legible. Luckily, what was left intact was the only bit of information that Seventeen needed to know??Storage Building?. The machine-hybrid dropped the plate of metal and continued down the hall. As he wandered the winding, crumbling corridors, the android started to hear a very haunting chorus commence once more. The wailing of the undead permeated the rundown hall, and the familiar scent soon invaded the cybernetic warrior?s nose.

Opposed to direct confrontation with however many cadavers were stalking him, Android Seventeen dove into a nearby room. Returning to his feet an instant later, the android turned to the destroyed doorway and started to look for anything to block the open space with. A large, steel cabinet seemed to be the only logically thing to us, and the cybernetic warrior quickly shoved the massive storage device over the shattered entryway. Seventeen turned away from the blocked entrance and scanned the chamber he was in for anything he could use against the horde of undead. By the time the footsteps were audible, the machine-hybrid had found something very interesting. In the corner of the rather cramped room, a security door stood wide-open.

Interested, Android Seventeen took a few steps over to the door and peered down the stairway. Darkness was the only thing he could see, but before Seventeen could take the first steps, a thunderous slam broke his concentration. Taking a look over his shoulder, the android watched as the massive cabinet started to shake and rock. It was only going to hamper the flood of hungry undead for a little longer. The cybernetic warrior stepped through the open doorway, the avatar?s blade ready to eviscerate anything planning to jump out of the shadows. With his free hand, Seventeen fumbled against the wall as he tried to find a device to shut the door. Just as the heavy cabinet was striking the ground, the android located a small panel.

Android Seventeen punched the single button and turned around to watch the door begin to slowly close. Undead were pouring over both the machine-hybrid?s makeshift barricade and their fellow corpses as they tried to reach Seventeen. The cybernetic warrior?s gaze continually shifted from the horde of zombies to the metal door. The thick flap of metal was taking forever to shut, but the android could only guess it was due to the mechanism responsible for sealing the door?it had to have been damaged in the explosion. The first zombie that slipped through the diminishing space between door and wall found himself on the receiving end of a stab to its decaying face. Another zombie tried to claw its way through the decreasing space, but unfortunately for it, it was crushed by the heavy door as it clicked shut. The machine-hybrid watched the trapped corpse struggle for a few moments before its existence was ended with a swift motion of steel that split its head in half.

Turning back to the stairway, the android?s night-vision took over, providing him with an uninhibited view of the long set of stairs. Android Seventeen, ignoring the muffled protests from his undead fanboys, slowly made his way down into the unknown. When he arrived at the landing, he soon realized that he had some company in the basement. A beam of light, probably from a flashlight, struck the machine-hybrid in the face. Seventeen cried out as he turned away from the intense beam to rub his stinging eyes. Whoever had blinded him quickly took off in the opposite direction, but the cybernetic warrior reacted quicker then the person expected. Darting forward with impaired vision, the android still managed to grab the fleeing man by the collar, forcing him to cry out in disagreement.

?Let me go! I swear it was an accident! I am just trying to survive!? Android Seventeen, not wanting to listen to any more of the man?s whining, released him. The panicky man quickly started apologizing some more, but the machine-hybrid cut right to the chase.

?Who the hell are you?? Seventeen asked, ?Another one of Brim?s lackeys? Is he experimenting on humans here as well??

?No,? the man said, relaxing a bit, ?Brim left us all here to be slaughtered. I hate that monster, but I can?t do anything about it because the emergency armory is on lockdown,? the word armory brought a smile to Seventeen?s face; something the android had gone a long time without.

?Where is this armory at?? Android Seventeen calmly asked the man. The man aimed his flashlight at a large steel door near the far wall of the basement. With a smirk on his face, the android quickly made his way over to the door, but the man was correct, it was firmly sealed. However, doors were nothing that had ever inhibited the machine-hybrid before, and with a little bit of effort and a few ki discs, the metal entrance fell apart. Stepping over the threshold, Seventeen?s human acquaintance quickly located the switch for the overhead lights. Once he adjusted to the new lighting, the android let out a tiny gasp at what he saw.

The entire room was lined with all the weaponry a small army could need. Even though it seemed someone had already gone through the room once already, it still seemed to have enough equipment to satisfy Seventeen. Guns of all shapes and sizes were suspended from metal hooks, polished and ready for immediate usage. High-tech devices littered the many tables and countertops that filled the room, and a hoard of ammunition was scattered everywhere.

The man next to the cybernetic warrior darted forward like he was a child in a candy store. Android Seventeen laid his sword on the ground and walked straight over to one of the gun racks. With a single punch, he shattered the relatively frail glass casing. His hands wrapped around the biggest weapon in the shelf, and the machine-hybrid smiled as he yanked the large gun free from its hook. Pulling the firearm back through the remaining glass, the android noticed that it ran off ki energy. The simple weapon strapped over Seventeen?s forearm and was apparently fired with a single button near the single grip. Laying the rifle on one of the metal tables, the android started to sift through the numerous cabinets underneath the countertops. Android Seventeen found a few interesting items?a leather belt designed to hold grenades, and a neglected bandana. After tying the belt over his pants and the bandana over his hair, the machine-hybrid went to find some explosives to clip to his new belt.

A small cache of grenades seemed to be waiting for the android underneath one of the gun racks. Seventeen studied the small explosives for a few minutes to figure out how they worked before he attached a couple of them to his belt. After a moment, the cybernetic warrior realized he couldn?t be too prepared, and he snatched a few more grenades. Another item caught his attention?a simply leather strap that went across his chest and served as a place to holster the rifle when he didn?t need it. The machine-hybrid pulled the strap of leather diagonally around his bare chest and snapped it shut behind his back. Even though he did not intend to holster the rifle on it for long periods of time, it still made him look cool.

One last thing of interest caught the android?s interest. A large block of C4, detonator and all, beckoned Seventeen. It was all that the cybernetic warrior needed, and he was not about to waste anymore precious time. Putting the energy rifle in is holster on his back; Android Seventeen collected his sword and the prepared explosive. A few moments later, the machine-hybrid was humming eagerly as he attached the C4 to the metal door. On the other side of the door, completely oblivious to what was happening; the gathering of undead was still slamming away on the door. The android triggered the detonator and his ki barrier at the same time. Unable to withstand the titanic blast, the steel door fell apart under the power, and the undead behind it were evaporated almost instantaneously.

Stepping through the smoke, the android made quick work of the visible undead. Most were easily sliced in half, but for a few of them, Seventeen couldn?t help but completely obliterate them with a round of ki from his rifle. With another step, the android felt clammy hands close around his neck, but just as he was anticipating the pain of decayed teeth through his neck, the android heard another energy weapon discharge. The corpse fell against Android Seventeen?s back, but he simply kicked it away and turned to see the human survivor blowing the smoke away from the barrel of his ki pistol.

?My name is Alexander, and if you will be so kind, I want to help you find Brim,? the machine-hybrid nodded his head, and the two quickly made their way out of the crumbling building. As they made their way across the wastelands, armed with enough ammunition to defeat an army, one goal was on their minds?kill Brim at all costs.
