Custom Technique Approval
Vital Remission - By channelling healing energies into the body's immunity cells, Melancholy creates an army of microscopic regenerates to fight off invading pathogens. While this will completely destroy most toxins and diseases it doesn't have an effect in situations where the immune system has already been compromised. Vampirism and Aids are two examples of such that can only be cured before the symptoms manifest. This technique takes a prolonged amount of time and direct contact to use. Fairy Mark(extends range) is a must if used in combat and even then the healer wouldn't be able to do anything else while performing this technique.

Black Flash: Kokukashin charges a small, black sphere of ki, with white electricity crackling around it, into his right palm. Whenever he closes his hand, crushing the ball, it will release a large black flash, accompanied by an extremely high pitched noise. The following shows how players will be affected be the attack.

If Kokukashin has 200 or more CA points than his opponent, the attack will render them unconscious. If Kokukashin's enemy is within 100 points of his CA, they will be stunned and fatigued by the attack, but they will not faint. If Kokukashin has 200 or less points than his enemy, the attack will be ineffective.

Eagle Eye - Once Orion locks onto a foe, it is nearly impossible for him to miss. When using energy attacks that have been charged and Orion uses this custom technique, his blast will not miss. It can still be blocked or diverted, though.

Gauntlets of the Warbringer - Low in impact towards the overall stamina of the user, ki is actually redirected from various minor points across the body and channeled to flow exclusively through the forearms and hands in order to provide additional strength and shielding for hand-to-hand combat. Because the concentration of energy is so intense, a significant amount of heat is generated in response which quickly evaporates the moisture in the immediate air surrounding the effected appendages creating a hazy veil that rises when the technique is activated.

Energy Cascade - (ki control required) This technique begins as an energy ball lobbed or fired from the palm. When the user chooses or when it makes contact with something the ball will explode with a blinding light and deafening sound into a set of smaller energy balls, much like fireworks going off. Each one of those will also explode, and the pieces they leave behind will then explode. Each set left behind is a cascade level and depending on the amount of energy put into the technique there can be up to 7 of them. While highly disorienting this technique does not cause much damage, even at close range.

Oblivion- On contact or through fairymark Melancholy can project her fairy powers of glamour(stealth) onto people or objects, rendering them invisible for a time. The size and duration of what shes turning invisible determines the drain. The maximum level of this ability (requires a massive fairy mark on the target area) is to turn everything in the vicinity completely invisible. Being invisible doesn't mean you can see what else is invisible so this tends to render everyone in the field blind, including Melancholy.

Dash - A simple technique, Kaden uses a burst of ki to quickly accelerate in a single direction. He can not change direction mid-dash. This technique is marked by the bright blue streak in leaves in Kaden's wake.

Price check, plz.

Vital Remission: I can't approve that. I have nothing against it but I'm not sure if it's too powerful or not. I'll let an admin call that one.

Black Flash: I can't approve this in its current form either. You can't have a technique that will guarantee a knock-out, no matter the conditions. If you made the KO chance a lot more vague (ie: this technique may render an opponent unconscious) then I'd be fine with it, but as it stands it's too powerful and could be abused in PvP.

Eagle Eye: A guaranteed hit tech, eh? I'm going to say 20xp.

Gauntlets of the Warbringer: 20xp

Energy Cascade: 15xp

Oblivion: 25xp

Dash: 12xp

I'm going to bump Eagle Eye up to 28.

No offense, but isn't Dash just a cheaper version of Afterimage? Plus, I thought we couldn't have custom techs that boosted other abilities (ie. speed).

Dash is Afterimage without the after image so... yeah, it is basically a cheaper version of the Technique that everyone else can get. It gives a "boost" in the same way that Afterimage does.

And it's a tech that increases speed.

Which is something that has been repeatedly stated that custom techs can't do.

Well... I'm obviously not going to make a ruling about my own custom. Sage didn't seem to have a problem with, and I didn't see anything wrong with it, since we've allowed "duplicates" of Afterimage in the past.

I'll just wait for another staffer to step in.

If you've allowed duplicates of Afterimage in the past (have there been? I don't remember any) then those also clearly break your admitted ruleset.

The rules are there for a reason. People should only be ASKED whether a tech is okay if it's not immediately obvious. Since this tech increases speed, which is strictly against the rules that you yourself have stated, there is zero reason to 'adjudicate' this to someone else for appeal, unless you're admitting that that's a flawed rule and should be overturned.

EDIT: Y'know... nevermind. I just don't have it in me right now.

Kaden Wrote:Dash - A simple technique, Kaden uses a burst of ki to quickly accelerate in a single direction. While similar in execution to the more common "Afterimage" technique, there are two significant differences. The first is that there is no actual Afterimage left when Kaden moves, and the second is the blue streak of ki that trails Kaden as he moves.

Okay, I re-read this and I think I might have misunderstood something last night.

When you use a burst of ki and he makes that blue streak of ki, is Kaden propelling himself with energy like Goku from the original Dragonball would have w/ his Kamehameha? If that is the case, then the tech is fine (and this is originally how I understood it).

If Kaden is actually increasing his own physical speed, then yeah, that's essentially the same as upping your agility, even though you're definitely not being unreasonable since it's just a split-second burst. Unless we intend to alter the general ruling somewhat - and it's not something I'd necessarily have a problem with - then this second example's not really legit.

EDIT: This one's actually kind of tricky. Afterimage -does- increase your speed for a split-second, and it's allowed...

The only other alternative I can see is straight out purchasing Afterimage. Dash could easily be an auxiliary tech to it since it does the same thing, or you could buy Afterimage and RP Dash in place of Afterimage. =/

So it's a thrust thing? Pushing yourself around with a ki wave or w/e.

Yeah, that's fine. We explicitly said that was fine a few times.

Your current price - since I assume stated ki wave is basically harmless - stands.

Illusion: Kokukashin can produce an Illusion that can alter everything the defendant sees. However, if Kokukashin is attacked, his focus is broken, as well as the illusion.

Heaven's Layers - This is a shielding technique that creates up to seven shields around the target. Each shield or layer can and will block the next seven(or how ever many shields were used) attacks. A layer can block a single attack of any magnitude(a rapidfire technique would count as one attack) before it fades away.

Every layer is grounded into one of the caster's ki centers located in the left and right arm, the left and right leg, and the heart and stomach. When a layer is used that section of the body will become numb(still usuable, it just loses feeling) and will be unable to use ki(any technique involving that portion of the body will not work. For this reason, ancient user's of the technique were nicknamed "Hangmen". Losing stomach center destroys revitalizing techniques. Losing Heart center disables transformations).

Illusion: that would definitely require Telepathy and it would be expensive.

Heaven's Layers: not approved. Pretty much take out the second paragraph and then we'll see.
