Ashe Wrote:And (even though this is likely to be met with extreme disagreement) its not just the WoW community that reacts like this. (Just like that "zomg its always alliance that does this, never horde" argument) I'd say a large portion of the online Blizzard playing, or even just generic online gaming, community is like this. We see the same types of douchebags playing LoL for example. But while playing with friends, you can just go "Oh well, they are cocks, whatever" and blow it off.

I 100% agree.

WoW is simply the easiest (and currently, the most prominent, imo) example.

That opening more up to individual's in the way they are going, being that it is easier to get gear now, and the game itself is easier, draws in more players, and thus, more money? Is that what your saying, albiet my confusing way of saying it?

Because if that's the case, which it could be, you'd be wrong. Considering since 3.2 WoW's player base has been steadly declining. I attribute that to it's shift in game play.

I'd rather play a game with 5,000 people where you earn your gear and reach milestones/feel proud of achievements you get then a game where you can just fly through it because it has to be dumbed down for newer players.

I can agree with that. Given how widespread it is and how many people talk about it, its definitely the most prominent. I just wanted to make sure that was the case, as I know some people that will napalm WoW for its community, but then jump onto L4D with an attitude like "God, you fucking suck, if our tank wasn't such a fucking noob, I mean he only killed two of them. You survivors fucking suck too, go kill yourselves," as his first comment of the game.

Its... amusing.

Did they have a similar reduction during the time period between BT/Hyjal and Sunwell? I was under the impression that Sunwell came out due to such reduction for lack of content.

I don't know. I know it's similar to the decline between Vanilla WoW and BC, that being a lot of people are leaving because it's not the same game they started playing. Sunwell was a placeholder, despite what anyone says. A damn hard placeholder, but it was definitely a filler after realizing they needed to buy time after BT.

It's not a huge dropoff because a lot of new players join to compensate for the older players leaving, and by no means crippling (6.7 million players is still a lot more to boast about then any other pay to play game, period), but it hurts. Especially losing 6 Million players from China's *banning* or whatever it's called of WoW.

Hahahahaa...

Oh man. I genuinely laughed. It's funny to see someone say "if this is what you meant, you're wrong." amirite?

Feeling a sense of achievement is just as much on the player as it is the game. The old stuff is still there. If you can't feel achievement for beating something that's harder, then... I don't know what to tell you.

Shit, remember when people played games just to get a "high score"?

Personally, what I do enjoy about it right now is the flavor of everything. I was a fan of the Warcraft games before WoW had even been conceptualized, before EQ had been thought up. So I mean, I'd still love to play for the sake of going in an seeing the Arthas stuff. Regardless of how easy that is, though, I'll likely only see it in YouTube or maybe with a group of friends. I'm not a fan of pugs, if that isn't clear enough.

The important fact that everyone is missing is; I'm right.

Also, it's a video game. I don't think it deserves this kind of impassioned outcries. Of course, I know the sort of people who still play WoW after five years, so ... bleh.

GET A JOB.

Orion, murder and death has been in the name of World of Warcraft. It's hardly just a game anymore.

IT'S A WORLD.

I actually hate when people say that. Just because it hasn't been around long, video games are somehow a lesser form of entertainment?

Then they turn around and attempt to actually turn it into a job and people cry harder.

That's not what I said. I said it's stupid to take it so seriously. Just like it's dumb to get all whiny and bitchy when your favourite sports team loses.
