Yeah, I'm definitely going to want to post first. It might not be TONIGHT, but it'll be up by... eh... one o'clock-ish tomorrow, EST. Most of it's going to be just Juno, so work on your own intros. The end, however, may involve more people. We'll see what happens.

Please do. I've never even heard of the game before so when I read over the description I had no clue as where to begin.

Basically you're a kind of "knight" that is really good at killing demons/undead, and they are called "Darkspawn". There are only a few of you left, you're greywardens, and you can sense darkspawn too. So you kill off the hordes, and the arch demon (dragon) is very powerful.

It's...pretty much like killing zombies all over again!

You have a really hot witch as a companion and an attractive Bard too. You quest to gather the treaties formed by the Greywardens into effect so you can mass an army and defeat one giant ass dragon.

Obviously, Vad's story is the actual game, not the one we have to use, though I'm definitely incorporating elements into my post.

Posted. I was thinking that each of our first posts could be at camp/getting to camp, especially for those not familiar with the game, and then myself or someone else who knows the game could roleplay getting to Ostagar after we've all settled into the setting.

Anyone can feel free to roleplay Juno entering the camp. Keep in mind he currently has an accent which heavily resembles a French accent.

As far as specific references: Ferelden is the country we're in. Orlais in their direct neighbor, who had control over them until thirty years ago, when Maric, the father of the current king, Cailan Theirin, led a successful rebellion. Ostagar is an old fortress the king has chosen to make his stand at, in south Ferelden (a few hours' journey from our camp).

The "Maker" is basically their equivalent of God.

A Grey Warden had to go through a ritual known as the Joining in which they drink darkspawn blood to become a Grey Warden and recieve the darkspawn 'taint.'

Oh, and hurlocks are taller, more muscular darkspawn, usually who use melee weapons, while genlocks are shorter and fatter, usually using ranged weapons. Hurlock or genlock 'emissaries' are darkspawn mages. I think that's all the basic info. Any more questions, just ask.

But thanks for the link Juno. The Darkspawn look kinda cool even though they're fucking ugly.

Although I have played Dragon Age, I never got around to finishing it. I never got past the part where you have to gather everyone for the big fight. So I am wondering if we are doing the first battle (the one towards the beginning of the game) or the second battle (the one towards the end)?

If it is the first battle, then we preety much have three points of interest as far as the battle itself is concerned:

One is the narrow chokepoint leading to the entrance, the other is the large tower right above the red exclamation mark and the third is a hidden flanking force located some distance away. The plan as it was in the game was for the main force to engage the Darkspawn at the chokepoint. Then, a team would lit a fire on top of the tower. This would serve as a signal for the hidden force to flank the Darkspawn army, from where the combined Grey Warden army would crush the opposition.

However, there is a problem with all three points. Number one, well...you are engaged in battle, obviously. Number two, the tower is attacked and occupied by a significant amount of Darkspawn, forcing the team to clear it before they can lit the tower. And number three, Loghain, the commander of the hidden flank force, finds his loyalty to the king waver due to his hatred for the Orlaians and wants to retreat rather then fulfill his part of the plan.

A way we could go about the battle is that we split up among these three points and dealing with the situation that arises there. Then, once we are finished and the plan is brought to full fruition, we face the leader of the Darkspawn army, arch-demonic dragon. Just a suggestion, that is all.

Also, should we incorporate the Grey Warden ritual in our roleplay or should we just assume we already underwent it? Beacuse in the game, the main character undergoes the ritual just prior to the battle. That said, considering how much ground we have to cover already, I do not think we have the time to gather all the necessary ingredients and whatnot.

I'm not sure we're fighting a particular game in the battle, as Sophia specified that the archdemon would appear, but also that it was in a field with mountains nearby. Hence, I took it to mean an original battle in the same universe. Therefore, I basically combined the first and the second battle, giving us Ostagar as a "base of operations" so that we would have more to do than post about slashing some Darkspawn in a field. I also chose Ostagar because it would be most familiar to those who haven't played much of the game, if any.

I do not think that using the Tower of Ishal segment is a bad idea, however. If we wanted to incorporate the lighting of the signal fire into our game, then that would be fine. However, I agree that we have way too much to cover to incorporate the Joining, and as I did in my post, I think it is safe to assume that we all already went through it.

Like I said, I don't think it is imperative that we stick exactly to the storyline. In fact, I think Sophia would much prefer it if we took liberties. Most of the history is the same as it was at the beginning of the Ostagar segment of the game, but I have pretty much assumed that we were to nullify the game itself and make it as if we were the heroes of the same battle under very different circumstances.

For example: during the game, the Grey Warden and his companions travel across Ferelden, meeting with the four different "races" (humans, Dalish - or wood - elves, dwarves, and mages) and informing them of their obligations to help battle the blight. We can either assume that the treaties have already been shown to the four factions, and they are there fighting with us (the most interesting and easiest option to me) or we can assume that they are not there, and that the only help we have are the king's soldiers, perhaps soldiers from a region called Redcliffe, and the mages.

Like I said, I think it would be a good idea for all of us to begin posting at the camp, where we can be conversing or attempting to form a strategy or preparing for the battle, or whatever, and then those familiar with the game lead us to Redcliffe (as of right now, that seems to be myself, Tamsin, and Kazuya).

I am suprised nobody besides Juno posted. It would be good if we got the planning stage done as soon as possible.

Anyway, posted. I just had Tamsin awake from her "vision" in the camp, so she is present.

Yeah, I personally would like for our camp posts to be up by tomorrow afternoon, if possible, that way we have Monday and Tuesday to work on the battle.

I talked to Tamsin, and we'd like for our two characters to take the Tower of Ishal signal fire, if that's alright with you all. That would leave you three either fighting darkspawn or doing something else equally strategic that we could discuss.

That said, is everyone going to have a camp post up tonight?
