Role-play Suggestion
My biggest problem with Chubbs was always that quests, spars and personal roleplays were completely inproportionate in reward (for 3000 words each, you might get 5 TP and 500 Zeni, 3 TP and 30 Zeni, and nothing, respectively. My best work, TMW2, got nothing because of this Sad) and that weekly training was always more important for power than actual roleplaying done. But if I'm not mistaken, personal roleplays are allowed to be graded like quests now, right?

Ages and ages ago (probably almost a year) I PMed Rad some stuff about grading systems, and he/we came up with something that was similar to this. I don't know if was ever implemented, but in case it was forgotten, it went something like this:

When someone submits a personal roleplay, spar or quest for grading, staff rates it from 1 to 10. 5 is an average roleplay, 1 is Metal Bon Para, 10 is an accomplished roleplayer writing the most incredible, gripping story you've ever seen on an RPG. If there's time, multiple staff can grade it and use an average for the reward (to eliminate bias). Obviously the grading is done on the staff forum, and staffers can't grade their own work.

For every 1000 words a member does, they get X TP and X0 Zeni (where X is the grade from 1-10). So an 'average' quality 5000-word roleplay might earn 5 TP and 50 Zeni. These are arbitrary numbers, but you get the idea. In reality I'd probably up the rewards because of what Belle said.

Obviously it's not perfect, but I think it's a hell of a lot fairer than the old system (10,000 word spar gets 3 TP/30 Zeni each, 5000-word roleplay gets 20 TP and 2000 Zeni). If something like this WAS implemented, then feel free to totally ignore this post Wink

I was thinking back to the bounty system that (I believe) Zangya made a while ago. It got me thinking. How bout we combine that Rep system that Mino suggested with a bounty system? I'll use Rad as an example. Rad, as we all know, is super haxorz (powerful) and a universal figure of awesome (famous). Because of this, there would be lots of NPC's that might want him, dead or alive, and would be willing to pay, let's say, 10,000 Zeni. However, somebody like Uno, a weakling and nobody compared to most of the chubbers, would not get such a high bounty. Maybe 1,000 Zeni.

Anyway, I was thinking a system like this could be represented through ranks (0-10). The deciding factors would be 1) How powerful you are, 2) How many events you have taken part of (DA, spars, personal sagas that would involve somebody wanting a bounty on you, etc.), and 3) How active you are.

I don't know where I'm really going with this, and I probally didn't explain it very well, but whatever. What say you? *points at screen*

Heh. I've been wrong plenty.

But still, even if that would be a 'neato' idea, I don't think it's a step in the right direction. Part of the problem is that practically the only thing that gets run these days is competition sagas and divides player characters rather than uniting them.

We don't need MORE incentive for that, really.

Still, I figured I'd throw it out there.

I was thinking earlier what about a job system? You rp actual working(if you don't participate you get the usual 250 zeni or whatever the hell it is) you may gain a small boost. How much? No idea. Just food for thought because I like the idea of rping my character working and making some extra cash instead of having it appear out of mid air and it would be nice to earn more than doing quests and stuff.

How about the first person to gather the dballs gets a million real dollars? That's we'll get that boost in activity we needed.

I like this idea.

Been suggested before. It was generally thought that RPing out a job would have been very annoying for most players and would not have been widely used.

Do you got a million you can front me till payday, homie?

As far as the jobs, I'm a little iffy on it. I mean, it would suck for people who are in active to take one up and just sit there reaping in money while those who actually put forth work get the same amount.

I can see why you're iffy, there could be zeni based quests/jobs posted up or something. I don't know. I just know I hate the fact the only way to earn zeni is to quest or do a sagas and weekly zeni. Probably just me though.

I don't think the day-to-day worker thing really fits the DBZ vibe. I mean, go ahead and roleplay it if you find that fun, but I wouldn't make jobs an actual system.

I really doubt staff would mind if you say your character works part-time or whatever (explaining where they get their weekly zeni), but you don't actually roleplay it. I mean, when was the last time you roleplayed your character going to the bathroom or taking a shower? For the most part, menial day-to-day tasks are just assumed. I say jobs should go in the same category unless they're interesting enough to merit their own personal roleplay.

Roleplaying a job is gay.

What you guys are talking about sounds like the guild system we had.

Bring back the guild system.

Whatever, I was saying rping a job is optional. You rp a job you get a little extra zeni other than the 250. I just want a way to get some zeni that sounds 'reasonable'. Guild System, didn't get a chance to get into it or read over the rules involved. Change is necessary for chubbs to get out of the slumber it's been in for the past few months, that's already known.

The system was gay, the concept isn't.
