Nope, that's the big fuss about GW. It's the only real mainstream MMO that doesn't charge to play online. You buy it and you've got a lifetime subscription. Anyway, I'm online on Rako Dakato so someone invite me to the guild

Double post...I called EBgames to check the price, they said it was fifty bucks...but what's this about one character being free, and the rest you get charged for?

FFXI charges you for characters, I believe, and that's the only MMO as far as I know.

GW you get x number of characters (4?). I can't remember. I have two characters currently and haven't paid them anything beyond the $50.

Aye, on Guild Wars you get the four characters, no extra charges. I think making people pay extra monthly to have extra characters is really freaking lame. One of many reasons I chose not to buy FFXI. Four characters still isn't enough for my taste though, I like being able to make 10 characters per server, 50 maximum on WoW

I'm kind of a character whore myself, like Buu. I generally end up with whatever maximum is allowed on a game.

In FFXI's defense, more than one character is really not needed. I was a bit skeptical myself, but the way the game is set up, extra characters really are kind of superfluous.

One very good thing can be said about how alts are handled in GW though. You get a shared 'bank', so transferring items between characters is uber-easy. On WoW you can have more alts, but using the mail is kind of cumbersome, and buying extra bank slots is kind of pointless when you can just have a mule alt.

Alt whore is definitely me... I have a number of active WoW alts, and I love them all

I said that it's just one of many reasons I chose not to get it by the way... The main ones being that I already have quite a few MMORPGs I'm inactive on like CoH, and I don't want to pay a month's subscription when I want to pick up and play something that's not WoW Basically there's other MMORPGs I'd rather play if it comes down to paying a subscription. CoH is teh sex, but I wouldn't have near enough time to be active on it and still be active on WoW. It's just my backup, y'know, incase Blizzard's HQ explodes.
