Grand Theft Auto IV Spoilers
#21
In the USA it's $400, only $50 more than the 360 Pro.

But the 360 has more games. Wink

EDIT: And significantly less in the 'raw power' department.

Not really... I bought a 360 and then looked at every game and only bought Mass Effect.

There's a huge amount of multiplatform games too, so you're pretty safe either way. In fact, exclusive titles are probably not going to ever appear again like they did in previous generations of consoles.. it's just too expensive to release your game on only one console, so unless they suspect it will sell millions of copies and they get a nice incentive from manufacturers then they need to branch out into a larger audience by going multiplatform.

So really, if you already own a next-gen console.. it really is going to be one game that makes you buy the console.

Oh. MGS4. Forgot that existed.

I really want a 360.

Oh, yeah, for sure. It really falls onto a 'to each their own' thing. I'm still holding out that Sony will do something to turn their machine around. I was disappointed, but that's just my perspective.

I prefer the selection on X360 versus PS3. I'm well aware other people think differently. That's not a bad thing.

Also, I've heard tell that PS3 variants of several multiplatform games aren't performing as they're supposed to. People're bitching about slowdown and 'jaggies.' Of course, that could all be a bunch of bullshit.

Everything I've seen shows the PS3 is able to make lots of things look lots prettier. :p

At the end of the day, though, I'd still consider getting a PS3. It was, afterall, the next-gen system I was rooting for the hardest until they actually came out. I'm still pretty convinced I'd never bother with a Wii.

Xbox 360 Exclusives (Current and Future):

Fable 2
Halo 3
Halo Wars
Halo: Chronicles (Screw all of you anti-Halo blokes)
Mass Effect
Ninja Gaiden II
Gears of War
Quake 4
Chromehounds
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Dead or Alive 4
Viva Pinata
BioShock
Splinter Cell: Conviction

PS3
MGS4
Resistance: Fall of Man
Devil May Cry 4
FFXIII
FFXIII Versus
Gran Turismo 5
Killzone
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Tekken 6
Ratchet and Clank 5

I probably missed a number of exclusives; this list is anything but complete or unbiased. I do think, however, that it is quite clear the 360 is the leader for exclusives (though, PS3 has pumped out some real zingers for the proportionally low number of total exclusives they hold).

BioShock: Fucking creeped me out a bit but damn it I loved playing that game, it was a bit annoying with those damn robots and security cameras catching me offguard. Great graphics and 'underwater' town/environment, gotta finish the game later this weekend when I visit my cousin.

Halo 3: Fuck me sideways I never really liked shooter games and haven't really played the story mode outside of the first two things with my cousin...I love online mode more than anything.

Fable 2: Saw the trailer and almost had to get a new pair of pants.

The rest...well damn it all to hell, fucking awesome. PS3 is just getting a good list of games going on and I'm not feeling any of those games listed, just the MSG4 which I'll likely rent IF I ever get a freaking ps3.

The only ONLY game that'll make me buy a ps3 is Kingdom Hearts III.

I haven't had any problems with the PS3 version of multiplats. I've seen the side by side of Assassin's Creed and another multi (can't remember which) and they look pretty much 100% the same on both consoles.

@Kril: Did you really just list Viva Pinata? Who the hell is going to play that? :gconfused:

Not gonna lie; I pretty much Wikipedia'd exclusives and checked GameFAQs for whichever games had consistently high ratings. Viva Pinata looked quirky, and had some great reviews.

DMC4 is on the 360 too, now.

I wasn't that interested in GTAIV previously, but I've looked it up and it seems like they are changing a lot, hopefully for the better. I'll probably pick it up.

Yeah, I'm more excited about DMC 4 than I am about GTA 4.

Meh. DMC3 is incredible, but still felt too one-dimensional. Beyond that, it's just difficult. Both Ninja Gaiden and DMC3 just felt inaccessible, even though I loved jumping off walls and doing stuff in them.

DMC 3 was only differcult because for some reason they made the European and US versions normal differculty equal to the hard setting in Japan.

I hope Devil May Cry 4's story is half as good as DMC3. I played the demo, the gameplay is pretty much identical, but then I expected that, it looked great though.

I'm worried you'll have to play as this new guy too much.

Are you talking about Nero?

He's like Dantes clone, he plays almost exactly like him too. You would have thought they'd try and make him a bit, you know, unique.

Nero is the main character, but Dante's playerable at some point in the game, so I guess that's a plus.

I heard the first half is with Nero, the second half is with Dante. I would have thought a more equal distribution of levels between them throughout the game would have been better ... but hey, they know what they're doing, and I guess it's kind of jarring when you want to play as one character but have to play as the other.

They don't really play anything at all alike. Nero's Devil-Bringer abilities make him a much more aggressive character. He also focuses far more on melee combat, since the Blue Rose is a piece of shit.

Dante's styles and weapons make him a lot more versatile. His guns are actually worth using, with the Gunslinger style. Being able to switch between Devil Arms makes longer fights a lot more interesting. I found it a lot easier, however, to be Nero.

Out of 20 chapters, you play the first 14 as Nero and 6 as Dante, I believe.

EDIT: btw, DMC4 is epic. Go play it now.

Yeah since I've had the chance to play Dante again I've noticed the differences.

And I'm pretty sure you get Dante in chapter 11. Also you switch back to Nero on mission 19.

I was really enjoying the game until I got up to the Dante part. Dante's great to play and all, but you're basically just playing through the Nero missions backwards, I mean you even fight all the same bosses (and again in chapter 19). It's just a bit disappointing, you'd think there'd be some new locations, acouple extra bosses. Add to that if you want to go for the achievements you basically have to play through the game 5 or 6 times, so it would have been nice if you could have gone through some new areas or something.
