It's an aging guy with an overly repetitive guitar ringing behind him, both of which manage to find at least a slight variance to the melody so as to not quite reach monotone.
Honestly, I don't see the depth or talent displayed in songs like this. I could write this. Give me an instrument, and a tiny disposition in that direction (that is, anger or insecurity), and I'll bet I could crank a few of these out, without sounding like bubbling acid spread over toast.
And the hell goes on at 3:05-ish? He just grab a guitar in the studio and go, "Hey guys, checkit, I'm going to say things, and you're going to make noise!" Fuck that.
