The diploma thing was a little fucked up. Do the guys with the most bling usually tip less?

Not even. What they usually do is pull out an envelope full of 100s, drop a couple of hundreds onto the check and then hand it to you. If you ask them if they want change, they don't answer and just keep talking on their bluetooth or to their friends. If you go and don't bring them change, they get pissed, say "Hey dawg, where mah change at? Shit..." and when you go back and get it, they pocket whatever is on it and bitch that you "aint gettin tipped" because you just assumed that was for you, which was rude as hell. If you DO bring them change, they act like that means you didn't want your obvious tip and just pocket it.
Sometimes that little exchange doesn't actually happen, and its all quiet and standard practice. They throw a hundred or two onto the check. Their 32$ check. You go get their change. They pocket every bit of it, set a napkin on top of the tray the change came with, and walk out the door. Everyone thinks "That dude been had money, look what he left!" and you lift the napkin and retrieve your empty tray.
