If you believe in "defending your country" or supporting ideals or whatever recruitment phrases are popular nowadays, then you're going to tell yourself that following those beliefs will be more fulfilling than sitting behind a desk. It's a self-fulfilling kinda thing.
Pretty much.
In reality, just living day to day is doing something with your life. People then gage how important, or fulfilling what you do is based on their own interpretation of worth.
An example would be sports, like Basketball or Baseball. Those guys get paid a lot of money, and are often called "heroes", but I still think that a Janitor has more importance in this world than a guy who can bounce a basketball, or has a 6ft vertical jump.
