In a perfect world we could have perfectly civilized debates without getting heated. But this isn't a perfect world and people have tempers and seek to defend their own opinions. You are guilty of this just as much as me and everyone else on this site. Now, from my understanding, you saying that we should be able to keep the debates in of themselves civil. What Leo is proposing seeks to do just that. Right now our tempers and such are flaring up within the debating threads, if there was a forum, say this 'black hole', then people could filter out their anger and their tempers within that thread, and the debate thread itself would remain civil, in theory.
Yes, it'd be great to have perfectly civil debates all the time. But that doesn't happen. Leo is arguing that by filtering out the tempers and the anger and putting that into a different thread, then the actual debate thread can remain civil. I think.
And I'm saying we don't need that shit here. You can rage at each other on your own time. In case you have forgotten, this is a forum for roleplaying DBZ (or it was, until you guys have kind of turned into your own universe kind of from my understanding). Now, think of people coming here to roleplay, and they see the off topic forums as this giant black of hole of people constantly attacking their opinions and raging at them for whatever reason. Do you really think they're going to want to stick around?
This forum isn't for attacking each other and debating, and you should feel lucky that the moderators and admins have even provided you with a place to debate at all, as this really isn't the place for that kind of thing. In fact, I'm sure the only reason they have is because they were tired of people derailing other threads because of trivial debates. The least you can do is keep this forum civil so that maybe more people will join in order to fulfill it's primary role, to roleplay.
