You know what's cool? Being yourself and not giving a fuck.
The problem with that generalization is that, often, people simply didn't know about X until it became "cool." Then, once they knew about it, they found out they liked it.
The iPhone, for example. It went through that "its too cool so I can't like it" period. Then people were all "man, this thing is handy" and it moved on to simply being a thing.
