While I don't really follow the Yu Gi Oh game (I played some of the DS version of 5Ds... does that count?) the idea of Synchro monsters always struck me as really odd.
They're trying to reward a player for putting themselves at a card disadvantage. A synchro monster requires a minimum of two cards to create one. Lets say you drop some sweet Synchro using three monsters to churn out some big bomb. Your opponent then flips over a single spell/trap/flip-monster and kills it. They just used one card to sack four of yours (the tuner, the other two, and the synchro).
Its actually more appropriate to say they used one "effect" to sack four of your cards, since if it was a monster's flip-effect, then they still have a monster on the board.
How does this relate to your deck? If you don't really care about the competitiveness of a deck, then it doesn't. If you're trying to make something that can hold its own in a competitive setting, though, you'd want to look at using cards that are similarly effective without creating disadvantages for yourself. Card advantage wins games.
