Red Cross nurses tend to do this at blood drives. Also, you may want to ask if they can use toddler needles. They do the same thing, they're just smaller. It's less invasive, but it makes the bloodwork take a teensy bit longer. My former boss had teensy veins and would have them do this so it would hurt her less.
