[LoM-2] League of Mafia 2 Information
#1
General Gameplay:
At the beginning of the game, each player wil receive a Character Profile inside their Private Message (PM) inbox. Each Profile will contain information related to your part in this game, noteably what character you are playing, which faction they will start as, as well as any abilities directly related to your character.

Example -
Quote:User Name: Ashe
Character Name: Zilean
Faction: Mafia
Ability: Chronoshift - You can save someone from a lynch vote and end the current Day Phase. Your Character Name and this Ability will be announced. One Time Use. Day Ability.
Posting Rule: Time Keeper - Whenever you make a Lynch Vote, you must mention a song lyric related to time or a measurement or marker of such. (Example - "Its Friday, Friday, gonna get down on Friday!")

User Name - This is your name. I place this here simply for my records.

Character Name - This is the name of the League of Legends Character role you are using for the duration of this game.

Faction - This is covered more in depth under "Types of Factions"

Ability - This will have the name and description of any character specific abilities that you may have access to, as well as Ability Keywords (Covered under "Ability Keywords").

Posting Rule - The way you form your posts may be guided by a unique twist. The purpose of this rule is to increase enjoyment of the role itself while also diversifying posts. It also creates a minor sub-game of allowing players to speculate, however accurate or basis this speculation may be, upon what character would have such a rule if they notice a pattern or particular oddity exists. Not all characters may have a Posting Rule, however, repeated and blatant disregard of a Posting Rule may result in your character losing their Abilities entirely.

Day Phase:
During each Day Phase, a new thread will be created with the appropriate title. Everyone will be posting in this thread for general discussions, hopefully speculating and accusing as to which players are actually Mafia in disguise. Over the course of the day, each player may begin or contribute to a Lynch Vote. This is formatted by adding (in bold) "Lynch - NAME" at the very bottom of one's post. If you have already placed a Lynch Vote that day but wish to change your vote for any reason, you may say "Unlynch" or "Unvote" at the bottom of a post, followed by a new Lynch Vote if you wish.

At the end of each Day Phase, a tally will be added up among votes and then adjusted based on any modifiers that may exist. There may be some abilities that are affecting the vote scores without the knowledge of players, so keep in mind that the numbers you as a player are counting may not necessarily be accurate to what the final counts will be.

Any vote that reaches more than half of the remaining total of players in the game (7 out of 12, 3 out of 5, etc) will be considered a "Majority Vote", resulting in the player being Lynched (killed by the Town "Lynch" ability). If more than one player receives a "Majority Vote" at one time (Usually due to an ability interaction), I will only use the highest total unless an ability says otherwise.

If a Day Phase concludes and a majority vote is not reached, no one will be lynched. This means that if there are, for example, nine players remaining in the game with one person getting 4 votes and five other players each receiving 1 vote, no one will have reached the required 5 votes to be lynched.

Also, during the Day Phase, a player may send me their intentions to use a Day Ability through a Private Message. This Ability will happen at the conclusion of the Day Phase unless otherwise noted, but there will be a specific order of priority over which ability takes effect before another.

Night Phase:
At the conclusion of each Day Phase, I will lock the Day thread and we will enter the Night Phase. During this time, no one will be able to post in any game related thread and discuss this on the forum unless an ability allows otherwise. Use of Night Abilities, to include the Mafia's Execute ability, are allowed during this Phase. At the beginning of the next Day Phase, I will inform the Town how the previous Night Phase played out, usually involving a Mafia Execution unless something interfered with such an attempt.

---

Types of Factions:
Town - The Town consists of the majority of the players in the game, if all is going well. The town is the only public faction within the game and every player acts out the role of being a townsperson, regardless of their actual faction. The Town has access to a Day Ability called "Lynch". "Lynch" is an ability that will allow them to kill a player at the end of a Day Phase, likely revealing their role and alignment. The target of the "Lynch" ability is chosen by a series of Lynch Votes that are placed by each member of the Town. If a player receives a number of votes that is more than half the number of total players, he will be considered the majority vote and the target of the Lynch ability. The Town is not allowed to PM each other regarding the state of the game unless an ability allows such communication.

Mafia - The Mafia consists of a few players acting in secret while pretending to be townspeople. They will vote during the Day Phase along with the members of the Town, guiding any votes to help them save their own Mafia members or to help kill key members of the Town. The Mafia are allowed to send each other PMs to discuss the game given that they will know who each other is and will need to coordinate. Additionally, the Mafia have access to the Night Ability "Execute". "Execute" is chosen in secret by the Mafia through use of Private Messages during the Night Phase. The target of "Execute" is chosen by an agreement with other Mafia and then sent as a Private Message to the Game Master (GM). If multiple Execute targets are sent to the GM in a single Night Phase, the most recently received message will designate the target. Any member of the Mafia has access to this ability, so use it wisely and communicate with your other Mafia or you may disrupt their plans. "Execute" is considered a targetted ability and whoever has most recently attempted to use this ability will be considered the person targetting the other player. This is important for some rules interactions.

Other - Additional factions may exist within the game that will act in secret, with the general populace unaware of their existence. They operate as nothing more than a rumor, only tending to become known as their actions being to attract attention. If an additional faction exists in any particular game, members of the faction will receive notice of any rules regarding their faction, to include abilities and win conditions relevent to it.

---

Ability Keywords:
Passive Ability - This ability is always active unless otherwise stated.

Triggered Ability - This ability will activate as a result of a specific occurance within the game.

Night Ability - This ability is only able to be used during the Night Phase.

Day Ability - This ability is only able to be used during the Day Phase.

True Damage - True Damage is unavoidable damage. It can not be redirected or prevented by any ability.

---

Extra Mentions:
Some of these phrases are slightly reworded from their original uses. Now that I have access to previously used abilities, I can show updated wordings of how I would word them if their effect and power level were intended to remain the same using this system. Furthermore, I will include examples of some rules interactions that players were previously unaware of.

Example 1 -
Kog'maw - Icathian Surprise - "When you die, you may choose one person to kill. This is not considered a targetted ability. True Damage. Triggered Ability."

His wording is now cleaner while functioning the same as before. I also would have removed the mention of "Town" under his ability due to how I will now organize the profiles.

Example 2 -
Evelynn - Shadow Walk - "You are immune to all targetted abilities but not Bloodscent. Passive Ability.

The new wording for Eve's ability would be this, showing that it is now considered a Passive Ability. Interestingly, if Kog'maw were to choose an Evelynn as who his Icathian Surprise is going to affect, Eve would be killed as Icathian Surprise is not a targetted ability.

**All Examples used within this post are not intended to indicate whether any particular character role is or is not being used in any given game and any descriptions may not reflect the particular description being used in that specific game. Do not refer to these Examples as free information to use during the course of the game.**

**Please stay active and participate in Day Phase discussions. Short posts with nothing more than a Lynch Vote or not posting at all leads to very boring games. I will enforce this rule based on the spirit of the game and not on any specific guideline, so if I feel that you are trying to tiptoe the fine line of absolute minimal posting, then I will simply remove you from the game after some time.**

**Do not discuss game play related information outside of the current Day thread, even during the Night. While I do not mind small commentary regarding interest, I have to hope that secret discussions are not taking place outside of the forum. Unfortunately, I can't realistically enforce this rule and thus won't be, but it very much interferes with the spirit of the game to do so. The intention is for all discussion to take place publically on the forum rather than talking about suspicions through PM, AIM, or Ventrilo.**

**There may be particular forum features that allow one to monitor the actions of another member during any particular time or Phase. This will break the spirit of the game tremendously and will give an unfair advantage to the person cheating. If I become aware of such intentional destruction of the game, I will act.**

**Also, you can not quote PMs (or any other contact method). You must take someone at their word on your own risk. They could be lying to you, or they could be telling the truth.**
