Hate:
nerdrage first-world-problems inside
Having to replace my iPod Touch. Literally two months out of warranty, it fucking breaks for no discernible reason at all. Just refuses to be recognized by anyone's computer. Can be charged, but never synced again, which is kind of a problem. So I have to replace it, but at least they give me 25% off the floor price! /sarcasm . I was really good with the damn thing, too - I don't think I ever dropped it onto a hard surface, maybe once or twice on the carpet, and the connectors were pretty much spotless.
Frustrating as fuck after my old click-wheel iPod, which was working amazing four years after purchase and only had to be replaced because the charger broke and, of course, they didn't make it anymore, and no one was selling them.
So the thing that probably should have had tons of problems was totally fine, and the thing that should've been totally fine ended up breaking for no clear reason.
Also hate: This fucking shit about Foxconn. Not the company, but the reaction to it in some media is nauseating. The sudden surge in liberal posturing makes me want to punch these people in the face. Apparently they can't be bothered to care about this shit until it's their Apple fashion accessory that's linked to China's brutal labor market. Where the fuck has this anger been otherwise? After all, Foxconn is not exactly fucking unique in taking steps to stop suicides in their manufacturing campuses. This happens A LOT in China, because manufacturing jobs are MISERABLE there, and it's been going on for YEARS. This is how we've been getting our cheap electronics and bargain price cashmere sweaters, assholes!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the companies or anything. It just drives me up the fucking wall that THIS is what it takes to get people to even pretend like they care.
Like: The Death and Return of Superman video, despite some wrongness in the summation of the story. The section on Hal Jordan is just so perfect.
