No words came back toward the android. Perhaps the girl hadn?t even heard her words. The blond fighter shrugged her shoulders back slightly and went further into the safe bunker. She made sure to grab another senzu bean just in case and stretched out her limbs to make sure she was fit to go back out. Her fight was not one she liked to recall, the woman had been stupid. 18 didn?t enjoy what had happened, but maybe it won?t happen again. She shook her thoughts away and started to leave the bunker after a short rest, she had to get into the next area still.
The air was hot and steamy. She had not realized it before. She was further in to the land and now she felt that the ground was rather hot. Earlier a cool wind had hit her, but that had been when she was close to the barricade to section B. She glanced around and noticed the charred earth and ash like vents that seemed to glow and threaten her. She had spent more time hiding and getting around than she had to look at the land. Carefully she trekked toward the northeast in hopes of reaching the barricade again. The hot air pushed against her frame and she found that this way was different from when she had been going to the bunker. It was more open, and she found herself trying to dodge the pot spots on the ground. She took in the sites now; off in the distance she saw the peaking mountain as it bellowed hot smoke. It was obviously a volcano, not far from it a glowing mass showed that it had let loose a river of molten rock. Android 18 did not feel much like exploring, it was after all down south and far away from where she was. It was only a blotch of light, so up close it may be hazardous. She took back to looking northeast and hoped to make the barricade before anything happened.
What would she meet there? She couldn?t possibly know. The air was beginning to cool as if came in from the east. She also noticed that the ground was not as hot. She was getting close to the next area, which was good. Would it be as hazardous as this area turned out to be? It seemed that all the areas would be just as bad as the other; it was meant to be harsh on them after all. The worried android wiped her arm across her brow; she had been sweating under the heat. She continued on though, the harsh environment would not stop her. The question did hit her though, why not fly? But that would be a little foolish; if she were to fly anyone could see her and even try firing at her. She wanted to stay low, for now anyway.
The barricade was coming into view. Luckily she had been in the bucker further away from the Synex building so she encountered no problems. This far away it was hard to make out the barricade, but she knew it would not be so simple to get over. She just shook her head and continued to go onward toward her destination; she would just have to decide from there.
It seemed that fate was against her. As the blond trudged up toward the barricade she noticed that it shivered like a wall of stretched out ki. It was some sort of electrical substance that could kill anything, she pondered it. A few Synex fighters walked around the barrier but did not seem very alert; this place was not very active yet. Android 18 wondered how she could cross. Off on both sides of the barricade, though it stretched far, there was a way around. She could not attempt that though, there were Synex guards all over. They were NOT supposed to even try leaving the area, but she wouldn?t let the company stop her. They had no set pattern in their movements; they just wandered around guarding the area. She bit nervously on her bottom lip. There had to be some way, surely there had to be a power supply that made this thing work? She glanced around herself, all that she could see was a withered old tree, the pile of rocks she had been standing behind, and little else. Suddenly a thought clicked into her head, wouldn?t it be located in a more secure area? She looked back the way she had come. A smirk fluttered across her lips.
She would have to head back toward the building, the Synex. Quickly she started to trek back toward the base she had seen before her first fight. She knew where it was and so easily made haste with all of the speed she had. She did not stop to take in her surroundings, or to try and hide at all. She moved swiftly, knowing anyone could see her, but soon it wouldn?t matter. The building showed in the distances, it was more like a military base where the fighters were sent from and some stuff was kept. Cautiously the android slowed down and started to carefully approach, she had to be careful now. A synex solider was beginning to make his rounds and he was coming rather close. 18 perched behind her rock watching and waiting, this had to be where the kept the power supply. This was a risky idea, but if she planned it right it would work. Quickly 18 moved a little away from view as the guard passed by without notice, they weren?t really paying much to sight. They didn?t know she was undetectable. She quietly snickered.
Sneaking along she took in the sight of the base, a lot of things looked familiar, and especially the bulky mass and device that was close but not too close to the base. She eyed it carefully; large cables came out from the bottom of its bulk and were sent deep into the earth. This must be the generator. She could hear it buzzing, a soft sound that she knew from various cities and the like. Once more she looked around for any guards or figures. The area was clear so she dived and rolled toward the hulking device. It was not hard to work from there. The android continued to try and over load the thing, at least enough to give her time to get out and into the next section without notice. She pushed buttons, set miniature ki blasts against the cables and controls, and finally some sparking pursued. An alarm suddenly blazed to life in the air and she suddenly knew it had worked, but if she didn?t move now the troops would be on her. As quick as a rabbit, 18 set off like there was no tomorrow.
They were fast, but she was quick on her feet. The fighters came out and started to fire ki blasts but she had already been far off already, and their aim was short. She jumped, dodged and dived away from the blasts as they chased her, another group set to work on the damaged generator. The android kept running with as much speed as she could put forth. She had to make that barrier before they fixed it and set it back up. A glance over her shoulder told her that though most of the troops had just given up, a few followed still. No matter. She pushed on, sweat streaming down her face. Her heart pouded with each bound, she was close. The familiar surroundings came to her and she knew she would make it. The guards were alert, but she was too close now. She jumped, a mighty leapt that she added some power to, and she dived through the barricade section. Just as she had made it the wall of sparkly energy flashed yo life, it just singed one of her shoe laces. 18 landed and looked through the wall catching her breath. The warriors stood dumbfounded, she flashed a grin and set off through the new area. The synex troops turned back, she was not worth it.
