Android Seventeen slammed against the outside wall of the Friend or Foe Production Building. Gasping desperately to prevent unconsciousness, the cybernetic warrior watched as his short-term ally came in contact with the claws of their mutant adversary. Yajirobe?s eyes widened in the seconds before the monster struck him from the sky. The samurai tried to move out of the way, but it was too late for him to evade the deadly blades protruding from the bloody stump that was the creature?s right hand. A stream of blood escaped the giant lesion along with the monster?s set of claws.
Yajirobe shrieked in agony as he struggled to pull himself free from the three serrated, curved weapons, but all the effort from the samurai only seemed to please the monstrosity. The mutant lifted the dead and still-impaled samurai off the ground and angled its claws upward. The weakening fighter slowly slid closer to the base of the trio of blades. More and more of Yajirobe?s blood began escaping him at dangerous levels and pooling to the ground. Android Seventeen watched as his one-time partner thrown like a rag doll through the concrete wall of the Production Building. Yajirobe?s corpse vanished, crushed by the avalanche of concrete and plaster that ensued.
The android knew that Brim told them no one would really die unless it was at the hands of another one of the competitors, so he knew he could not afford to mourn the human?s temporary passing. Seventeen just hoped that the diabolical game master would not go back on his word. The machine-hybrid continued to ponder what would happen when the loud footsteps of his mutating opponent stirred him from his thoughts. With each step, the creature?s enormous feet would crack the dried, lifeless dirt with a thunderous clap. The monster raised its natural weapons, the blood of Yajirobe still dripping of in excess. Android Seventeen started to back away as his overwhelming adversary started to transform before his very eyes. Its skin started to bubble and pop as the small spikes and thrones over the mutant?s body were forced outward. Something was bulging underneath the surface of the creature; from the impression they made from the outside they appeared to be almost tube-like
With an unnatural wail, the beast?s sides split apart as two thick tentacles forced their way free. The pain must have been excruciating, because the massive monster was dropped to his knees. Its new appendages whipped and flexed as they continued to constantly move. Both of them tapered into a single, needle-like tip. Seventeen gawked at the twin tentacles, still glistening with blood and internal fluids in the light of the rising sun.
Rising sun? The cybernetic warrior raised a hand to shield his eyes from the yellow rays. Had it only been a single day since the android had just arrived on the asteroid to partake in Brim?s competition? Only a mere twenty-four hours ago had the machine-hybrid started this game in the dark, cadaver-filled hospital. In the span of a day Seventeen had been mauled by zombies, killed Piccolo Daimaou, been nearly slain by an avatar, watched Piccolo die at the hands of his copy, fight Yajirobe, and then watch him be brutally murdered. All of it seemed like a lifetime, but only a day had transpired since then. The machine-hybrid turned to see his silent, mutating assailant. The creature had relaxed, but now it was slowly making its way towards Android Seventeen.
Seventeen watched the blackened creature steadily decrease the space between them, but it was the free-moving tentacles that were the interesting part. They were extending outward in both directions?constantly moving about. Now the cybernetic warrior had two more targets to watch out for. The android rushed forward, allowing his anger and resolve empower him. Slamming his shoulder into the monster?s chest, the machine-hybrid staggered his opponent, but suddenly the situation went terribly wrong. As Android Seventeen went to strike again, the creature?s twin tendrils swung down, capturing the flailing android between them. Fighting feverously, the cybernetic warrior tried to escape the crushing power of the mutant?s two tentacles as they squeezed down on his stomach. Unwilling to die by asphyxiation, the android began to quickly focus his dwindling energy into his palms.
Throwing his hands together, Seventeen unleashed the beam of golden ki into the chest of his monstrous adversary. Most opponents would have been destroyed or at least knocked-out by the power of the Final Flash; however, the android didn?t have much time to gather the energy to slay the giant. The power of the ki wave managed to burn through the armored flesh of the monster, and stun it enough that its tentacles loosened their unyielding grip on the machine-hybrid. Android Seventeen put his hands on the thick tentacles and pushed up, his legs escaping the released appendages seconds before they tightened once again. The machine-hybrid, his hands still firmly planted on the thick tendrils, pushed himself as high as he could. Seventeen brought his legs up as high as he could, and closed them around the small, square-shaped head of the mutant.
The android twisted his body; a giant snap was followed by the entire form of the monster instantly becoming limp. Kicking away from the falling creature, Android Seventeen landed in a crouch a few feet from the mutant. With a deafening thud, the body struck the ground, causing the earth to crack underneath it. The machine-hybrid stood back up, wiping the sweat from his brow and eying the still corpse. Something was just not right, but the android was unsure whether or not he really wanted to stick around. Seventeen turned around and took the morning sky calmly, but he had only traveled a few yards when he heard the sound of breaking bones and churning internal fluids. The cybernetic warrior looked back down at the twitching carcass and felt his dread swell.
With a deep roar, the mutant sat back up and glared directly up at Seventeen. Even though its eyes were tiny, black pools on its short, stout head, the android knew the monstrosity wanted him dead. Even worse, the creature?s back was surging outward, and something new was preparing to break free from its internal prison. The swelling flesh suddenly burst open as black appendages escaped. The wings, still dripping with fluid, blood, and excess skin, shook a few times to clean themselves of the internal residue. Satisfied, the creature stood back up and flapped its new accessories. Reminiscent of bats, the wings themselves were the same size as Android Seventeen, and it seemed like the giant was growing larger before his cybernetic eyes. This was starting to become a situation most dire.
