Resident Evil 4

This is the best last gen console game ever. Don't get it for the PC though, because its terrible. So buy it for 12.99. You won't regret it.

I back this topic wholeheartedly. I loved Resi 4 so much I bought it twice (GC when it first came out, and then Wii later for all the PS2 bonuses and the wiimote aiming).

So ... yeah. SB endorses RE4.

*Snicker*

Nintendo Wii and shooters do not a good pair make.

"Oh lawd I can't aim! It's- HEY! STOP BEING SO TWITCHY!!! WTF, I have no control and it looks worse on my console."

"Who could have predicted this would suck so hard?!"

I did. Just... putting that out there.

According to what consensus? I actually think Wii shooter controls are vastly superior to dual analog when done right, with the bonus of feeling like you're actually there. With PC coming #1 in accuracy.

You just don't see anyone trying to sell shooters on the Wii anymore because Nintendo's market has become the Wii Sports and Brain Training enthusiasts. It's a big shame if you ask me, but that's the truth.

The... general populace?

And pretty much experience. I gave it the ol' college try. And laughed myself silly at the absurd results doing it. It's almost criminal.

Bwahahaha.

Obviously 'the general populace' is playing Red Steel.

And Far Cry. Just as an example.

You mean the game which got 37% average on Gamerankings?

I see what you mean. They were obviously maxing out the Wii's capabilities, there's no way an FPS could do better than that =P

Oh come now.

Is it so hard to admit that a console is bad at something?

I can admit the X360 - "my" console - is a flaming pile of shit reliability wise. It might as well have been built by Kia. They all got their shortcomings, bro.

I play the 360 a lot more than Wii. Hell, at the moment I play my PC more than the Wii. I don't consider it 'my' console. Of the many things I hate the Wii for, here are just a few: online play is a pile of shit in every way. Not enough face buttons on the controller. Bad specs. Not enough games for people like me.

But shooting? Hell naw. Sounds to me like you're just saying everything sucks about the Wii, the same way you seem to think I'm saying everything about it is good.

For the record, the only FPS I've seen on the Wii where the developers bothered to get the controls right is Metroid Prime 3 (with Advanced controls, fuck the aiming box of Red Steel). All of the other examples I can think of are 3rd-person shooters or games with shooting elements (like Zelda's projectiles). In all those cases, the games have noticeably benefited from being able to point n' shoot rather than having to adjust an aiming reticule with an analog stick. Lots of reviewers and journalists have pointed this out and dismayed because of how under-used it is.

It doesn't make a game good, but it can make a game better. As with Resi 4. The game is actually a lot less challenging on the Wii because it's very easy to make accurate shots very quickly.

It's not even like I'm saying Wii has the best shooter controls - it doesn't, PC does - I'm just saying it's better than dual analog, which really isn't saying a lot. Dual analog is notoriously bad, that's why most console FPSes have auto-aiming to some degree, or simply target locking like GTA4. This shit is well documented. It's like game science, bro!!!

If you say so. I find precision aiming way easier with a real controller than on the Wiimote. And I tend to turn off auto-aim.

Are you sure you're holding it right?

I just wanted to make a passing comment on your potential ineptitude.

This also gave me a reason to use the word "ineptitude." Which is awesome.

I didn't particularly find anything hard to control for Wii shooters. <.< Red Steel included.

To those ends, I'm not sure what the "general populace" was expecting. If they were actually expecting to feel like they're holding the gun, well...I don't know what to say.

EDIT: Actually, that's not true. They're idiots.
