Custom Technique Approval
Kaden Wrote:Illusion: that would definitely require Telepathy and it would be expensive.

Heaven's Layers: not approved. Pretty much take out the second paragraph and then we'll see.

....I'm not sure you understood. The hangman drawback affects the person using the technique. Not the person attacking. The layer shielding can block any single attack but at the price of losing the ability to project ki for the remainder of the battle.

I understand how the technique is supposed to work. The problem is that you could walk up to Joe and go "here's a shield" and then Joe gets hit with something and suddenly can't use ki, or transform, or whatever else it says is a drawback.

That's... not cool.

It would target the person who uses the technique. Not the person the shield is on.

Using the shield 'commits' the USER'S energy in those parts of their body to the maintaining of the shield.

Then, next time, just say that. When you talk about "targets" it makes it sound like you intend to use it on people other than Melancholy.

Enhanced Foresight: Gives Kokukashin more power over when his visions take place, and how long they will last. As of now, most of his visions are spontaneous.

Enhanced Regeneration: Namekian-level regeneration. In one of my RP's, my character lost a limb. He regenerated it, however, it took hours, and he lost a lot of energy. Enhanced Regeneration allows Kokukashin to heal minor wounds in a matter of seconds (at the cost of his ki), and large wounds in minutes.

Undying Flame
When Oliver Nash was struck by lightning, his "Chi Structure" changed fundamentally. Oliver is currently oblivious to this. It seems now that he draws his power from an unknown source, outside the common meridians. The combat application of this is that attacks that specifically target chi meridians or power conduits on the human body are rendered moot. While the Wizard is still weakened by these attacks, the undying flame fuels his meridians and therefore prevents them from being completely compromised. That isn't to say that he has limitless energy; such isn't the case. He has normal limitations on chi-use and can certainly run out if he over-exerts himself. Since Oliver requires meridian stability to remain 'combatable' the absorption technique can be effective in rendering him unconscious because a continual sap from his conduits forces him to either fuel them with his undying flame (remaining conscious but could lose all of his chi) or sever the connection (leaving him un-conscious with remnant energy). The last note worth mention is that fighters with adept Chi Sensory may develop a counter-measure to this but it is time consuming. They first must discover the unknown source and its link to Oliver Nash--a challenging feat in its own right--and then may procede to develop a special technique for targeting the undying flame.

I do intend that and I did say that. Clearly you didn't understand. I can target the shield onto anyone. The drawbacks affect me, the person who uses the technique.

Melancholy Wrote:Heaven's Layers - This is a shielding technique that creates up to seven shields around the target. Each shield or layer can and will block the next seven(or how ever many shields were used) attacks. A layer can block a single attack of any magnitude(a rapidfire technique would count as one attack) before it fades away.

Every layer is grounded into one of the caster's ki centers located in the left and right arm, the left and right leg, and the heart and stomach. When a layer is used that section of the body will become numb(still usuable, it just loses feeling) and will be unable to use ki(any technique involving that portion of the body will not work. For this reason, ancient user's of the technique were nicknamed "Hangmen". Losing stomach center destroys revitalizing techniques. Losing Heart center disables transformations).

You only named six ki centers for the seven layers =O What about head?

(I love the idea, by the way)

bah forgot, and yes the head is the last ki center. Can't use mental or sensory stuff(telepathy, telekinesis, energysense, etc.) when its gone.

You know what, I just realized I could probably go without using that technique; forget about it :p

Sorry for wasting your time last night, Rad.

Ok, dis one iz fo' real.

Ki Shotgun

A blast of ki can be shot from the white mark on Oliver's upper torso. The energy is scattered similar to a shotgun. And like a shotgun, the attack is weak at a distance but deals explosive damage at point-blank. Upon further development he may be able to fire it from an appendage.

Koku: You don't actually need a Custom Tech for either of those things. Just RP your character learning to control his abilities. If you're absolutely determined to spend XP on something you don't really, I guess your Customs would be 5 XP each.

Heaven's Layers: 25 XP.

Ki Shotgun: 12 XP.

Ki Globe

Oliver’s first conscious use of his “magic” powers manifested itself as a ‘Ki Globe’: an energy sphere that forms in his palm. It can grow to about twice the size of a human head. This archetypal ki technique is quite an anomaly. Unlike most ki-based attacks, ‘Ki Globe’ deals strictly concussive damage. Similarly unusual, the ball can’t leave his grasp because his ability to launch energy attacks is still undeveloped. Instead, he uses the sphere as a carry weapon in close quarters and it does considerably more bludgeoning damage than a closed fist. Another note-worthy characteristic of the globe is that its durable and can be used to block mediocre ki waves. Lastly, maintaining the ‘Ki Globe’ requires a continual feed of energy.

• Palm-generated ki orb that is stationary
• Deals bludgeoning/concussive damage
• Defends against basic ki waves
• Costly and inefficient to maintain

20 xp for Ki Globe.

Question, can one lose a technique later on? Are they exchanged for a small amount of the original spent XP or is all XP lost (I expect the latter, but I'm still curious)?

Oh, and this:

Sin Sight
Quote:A very limited and restricted form of telepathy that delves into the nature of the technique, but comes out as a rudimentary form of the original. When Oliver is in thirty feet of a target, past sins project themselves from the target's mind into his own. They come in a variety of forms including but not limited to: verbalizations, cinematic recall, or photographic images. This 'Sin Sight' can acquire up to seven targets at once and it is involuntary.

The minor flaws of this ability are that it isn't reliant on the user's perception of sin, but rather based on King Yemma's scale of judgement (or the next dimension's judgement of good and evil). A major flaw is that even sinful THOUGHTS can be perceived as actual deeds done by the target and often, the majority of projections are hallucinatory dramatizations of a person's thoughts; making it impossible to tell the difference between real acts and those of the mind.

The curse of Sin Sight often leads to the progressive insanity of the user. So long as Sin Sight remains in the user's arsenal, they can not acquire telepathy.

A final note: Sin Sight will not acquire background information about other characters unless given permission, and 'past sins' of PCs will NEVER be improvised and will come from the source (unless permission is given to override the aforementioned limitations).

I understand what you want to do, but Sin Sight would require telepathy.

This attack involves Piper concentrating two balls of ki around her fists that act essentially as gloves with which to bludgeon her foes. After nailing enough hits, she can cup her palms and release the energy focused around her fists as a fireball-shaped burst of energy with a little more kick than your normal blast. Although not necessary, Piper may shout the name of the technique prior to releasing the blast.

Price check, please?
