Revolution and Reformation: Sign-Ups
#1
Welcome to sign-ups for R&R! The saga currently doesn't have an official start date, but for now, sign-ups are open until May 1. You don't have to be on Earth to sign up, but when the saga starts, you MUST be on Earth. And unfortunately, since I'm not staff, I can't offer free transportation. Bummer, I know, guys.

Here's the "sign-up form", which is basically just a profile of you that you need to fill out so that I can have 'em to post info about your character so that my story guides/other players don't go totally blank when roleplaying them. So yeah, fill it out, post it, etc; and then just below that I've quoted the 'what this saga is all about' to help you make decisions about which faction to align yourself with.

Quote:Character Name: Self-explanatory.
Age: Self-explanatory.
Brief Biography: A brief description of their life and events that may influence their decisions.
Personality: A brief, one-paragraph description of their personality so people portray them accurately.
Fighting Style: Just a few brief words. Could be a type of martial arts or just an adjective.
Alignment: Government / Revolutionary / Assassin / Independent
Why They Fight A brief description of why they fight for the faction you chose.

Juno Wrote:
REVOLUTION AND REFORMATION

"Revolution and Reformation" is an unofficial, member-run storyline saga that will take place in an apocalyptic, lawless, dystopian Central City. It will be a faction warfare saga, concerning a war that takes place between three different groups, each fighting for a cause they find to be the "greater good": the Noble and Trustworthy Government of Central City, fighting for order and their selfish desire to keep power; the Vienna Revolutionary Faction, a group of vigilantes who stage a coup de etat of Central City's current government; and the Shadow Walkers, a group of assassins who have the power to turn invisible that have recently begun to hire non-invis assassins due to the need for pure manpower.

STORY - In recent times, the Earth's capital -- Central City -- has been the center of mass conflicts for the very future of the universe. Never once, though, has the city had to fight solely amongst itself. This is all about to change.

The current government of the city is collapsing in upon itself; the city is turning into a dystopia, and though the Governor and his Council members consistently attempt to remind their people that reconstruction takes time, the people are getting listless.

Eventually, a young woman named Juliet stepped up to the plate and took control of a revolutionary group disguised as a popular arms dealer in the galaxy. Only just now have they begun to plan their first attack on Central City's government.

But we cannot forget those from the outside -- a dark, mysterious group of assassins that have been chasing the revolutionary leader and anyone involved with her for months. They are not about to let Juliet take control, but their leader -- whose face remains hidden in the shadows -- has seen an opportunity for the marred Central City to be the new base of his guild, and has ordered his assassins not only to go after the young, lavender-haired woman, but also to take the city for themselves.

A three-sided war -- the Government, the Revolutionaries, and the Assassins. Which will you pay loyalty to?

______________________

FACTIONS -

The Noble and Trustworthy Government of Central City: Names aren't a good representation of a group, as is perfectly exemplified by the self-proclaimed "noble and trustworthy" people working for the government of Central City. A corrupt group of individuals who are just now experiencing conflict to their reign since the tragedy that charred half the city, the Governor -- Markys Darrow -- is searching for some way to quell this crisis. The government will attempt to use diplomacy at first to preserve their image, knowing that it will fail; following that, they will then in desperation hire anybody who can fight the Revolutionaries -- even people they don't fully understand such as the Assassins.

The Vienna Revolutionaries: Dissatisfied with the way the "noble and trustworthy government" handled the crisis that destroyed half of their once glorious city, the Vienna Revolutionaries are a group of people searching for change, led by a mysterious woman who came upon them in their time of need: Juliet Bracken. Juliet is a puzzling figure, but has shown nothing but loyalty to her revolutionaries, and that, combined with her splendid beauty, has led them to follow her like dogs. They are fighting to take down the corrupt government and establish a new civilization known as New Vienna, which they hope will become a cultural, economic, and political center for the entire planet.

The Shadow Walkers: A group of assassins that have recently entered the watching eye of Central City, it was originally a group composed only of those with the inherent ability to walk unseen, or, more crudely, "turn invisible." However, their leader, a man known only as Rafique, has recently expressed interest in eliminating the nomadic element that Shadow Walkers have become accustomed to, and would like to throw in their hand to take control of Central City and create an assassin's guild in its place. Currently working under the shadow of government mercenaries, the assassins are awaiting the time when it will be their time to take over. Of all the groups, they are the most mysterious, and players who join this group will, at the outset, know little to nothing about the ones they fight for other than its goals. The Rafique will not make his entrance until a good ways into the saga.

______________________

FACTION LEADERS -

Governor Markys Darrow: Markys Darrow is an ex-military operative, so he knows his fair share of combat, and will not let the government be defeated easily. However, being a military man, elected because of his prowess as a war hero, he knows little of government besides that, and often is able to be bent to his corrupt advisers' will; he is steadfastly loyal to all decisions he makes, however, and will fight wholeheartedly to keep what he sees as a functioning government alive. Of all of the faction leaders, Darrow is probably the most archetypal good.

Juliet Bracken: Juliet Bracken, a young, lavender-haired woman with hypnotizing beauty is the leader of the Vienna Revolutionaries. She is a highly intelligent woman -- perhaps the smartest woman on Earth at the current time -- and knows her tactics, but is still an enigma. She used to be a sweet, bubbly person, but events of the last few months have hardened her, transforming her into a true warrior. She goes no-holds-barred on everything, and is a violent, cruel person. However, her cruelty opened a soft spot for the cause of the mercenaries, so she has joined up with them out of sympathy and been elevated to a leadership position due to their adoration for her.

Rafique: A true enigma, even moreso than Juliet, Rafique has never been seen by anyone but his few advisors and viziers that direct his orders to the people. Rumor has it that he will come out to play if the going gets tough for his assassins. However, he has confidence in them. Little is known about the Rafique other than the fact that he has had a dark, tumultous past even from childhood, and has registered more kills than any other person in his guild and continues to do so, using the fact that no one knows what he truly looks like to his advantage. He is cunning, and finds in Juliet a true intellectual challenge. He is strong, and finds in Markys a true challenge of strength. He looks forward to attempting to overcome both challenges.

Character Name: Juno Profeta
Age: 19
Brief Biography:
Quote:Born on Earth to a Saiyan father and a Human mother, his father was enlisted and died in the Changeling Wars shortly after his birth, leaving him with his mother, who was lost without his father. At age thirteen, Juno ran off to Mercy, and discovered his abilities of foresight and possession throughout his trials. At age sixteen he became a mercenary and was on a spy mission to Yggdrasil when he met Juliet, who at that time was a bubbly young woman in the prime of happiness. However, he was tricked into thinking her dead, and found himself back on Earth participating in Friend or Foe. Recently, he was eliminated from the competition and captured by Juliet’s compound on Earth disguised as a Yggdrasil base.
Personality:
Quote:Juno is young, to say the least. He's still got the youthful spirit, and the eagerness to please others. However, he's not always sound on everything, and often turns to stubbornness to get his way. He's overly curious, and his curiosity often gets the better of him (it often also gets him in danger). Following Friend or Foe, however, he has become more cognizant of the world around him. Over the years, his tendency to look further into things has made him an intelligent young boy, and a good intellectual asset on any mission. He's always looking into the future -- quite literally -- and likes to see inside the minds of others, therefore having no qualms with invading someone's privacy, even if it is his own. He's also sarcastic and witty, always trying to come up with some sort of quip or comeback. He is, however, a teenager, and therefore is subject to one of the teenage years' many problems: he is quite hormonal and can become quite sex-obsessed when the opportunity arises.
Fighting Style: Calculated
Alignment: Revolutionary
Why They Fight: Along with his love for Juliet, which is the primary cause that compels him to help her, Juno fights for the revolutionaries because he does see corruption in the government, and he sees that Earth—and Central City—have deteriorated since his childhood and that a change in leadership is needed. His newly arisen Saiyan thirst for brutality also gives him reason to fight, if an unconscious one.

Character Name: Oriole Sands

Age: 22

Brief Biography: Oriole is a low-ranking priest for an organization simply known as The Cult, which has always had pleasant arrangements with the established government regarding the disappearance of people from all walks of life for the sacrifices their god demands.

Personality: Oriole is a reserved, relatively intelligent young man who feels he has the perfect balance of determination and fear, willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals, but not the type to hope for the best against overwhelming odds, preferring to vanish into the shadows and strike again at a better time.

Fighting Style: Cautious, relies on high speed mixed with a relatively well-balanced array of combat skills.

Alignment: Government / Revolutionary / Assassin / Independent

Government: The government has allowed The Cult to act out its wishes freely, something Oriole would like to see continued. This, combined with the Revolutionaries cutting in on the weapons industry and the Assassins' unpredictable nature has led to Cult-backing for the current ruling party.

Quote:Character Name: Gozen

Age: Undisclosed

Brief Biography:
Gozen is a man from a long pas time, lost and forgotten only to return for an unknown reason. Apparently under the employ of a higher force from beyond the world of the living, he seeks the Dragon Balls to return order by preventing any from passing between the realms of the living and dead.

Personality:
Gozen is a cryptic, wild and possibly insane spiritual warrior with the will to drive himself through great hardship. His motives are mostly unknown beyond the work that he does, and it is unclear why he moves forward with such presence, considering he has never seemed to show a liking for his job. He is not much one to explain himself, and will often appear out of the blue and go about his business with no prior warning or apparent reasoning.
He is however, extremely clumsy and easily distracted despite his speed and focus in combat however, many times finding himself in comical positions of misunderstand or misfortune.
His diction is somewhat archaic and confusing way of speaking, all done in a voice that seems to scrape across the air itself.

Fighting Style: Acrobatic and evasive with a focus on counter attacks

Alignment: Independent

Why They Fight:
To take vengeance for all the souls who are restless due to their death for another's quarrel in the fight between Vad and the Saiyan forces. To redeem their spirits and send them on to the afterlife, Gozen feels it necessary to defeat Vad and quiet the battle that wracks their homelands.

Character Name: Alexander 'Ace' Trafford

Age: 19

Brief Biography:
Trafford is the offspring of two very successful, very wealthy socialites. Throughout his life Alex has been shifting between a number of private education institutions, constantly being relocated do to behavior and work ethic problems. Between the ages of 14 and 17, his parents 'volunteered' him to be the subject of experimental military testing being performed by his father's (General Samuel Trafford) massive corporation. The research and experiments reached a climax on his 17th birthday, when he was injected with raw, pure energy that had been harvested north of West City. That same day he left home and has been enjoying the life of an alcoholic, cigarette-addicted vagrant in the projects of West City. The experiments have had interesting effects on his physical, psychological and mental state - most notably his abilities and, more recently, some behavioral quirks.

Personality:
Trafford personality could be best described as 'nervous arrogance'. At first glance, he may seem rather full of himself and rather cocky, but beneath the exterior lies a man who is unsure of his abilities and his potential, and is frightened. Alex is not the shy type, even around strangers and will likely be the first to break the ice - albeit probably a demeaning remark or sexual joke in order to make himself feel superior.

Lately, a darker hue has began to color his mannerisms. He has, sporadically, shown indifference towards violence and even giddyness at suffering. Although, this seems to be linked to some twisted view of justice, where he has no remorse for those who threaten him or do him harm. He always thinks he is doing the right thing, even when he isn't.

Fighting Style: Ranged Deathstrike: Not very adept at melee combat, Alex will try to keep his difference and will use anything (literally) to attack his opponent. Environment is key to Trafford's fighting style since he can make any object a highly explosive projectile. He'd rather not waste time with formalities and enjoys ending fights quickly and efficently, using underhanded methods if necessary. In Melee combat, if he finds himself caught in such a tragic circumstance, he augments a pair of leather gloves with energy in order to balance his weak physical strikes.

Alignment: Assassin

Why They Fight:
Though Trafford’s interests lie on a separate track than the goals of the assassin’s, he finds that the two sets of desire lie parallel to each other. Incredibly distrustful of government, and viewing revolutions as a cyclical means of replacing one state with another, without any meaningful progression, Alex finds home with the group that, rather than maintaining the status quo or replacing it with more of the same, changes the game.

Character Name: Cain

Age: Appears twenty three.

Brief Biography: A recent rediscovery of things past has led Cain to speak freer, but question everything spoken by fellow users of chi. Wears round, dark sunglasses. "If the glasses come off, somethins' bout ta' pop off."

Personality: Speaks freely, fights meanly, smiles even when in serious thought. May gesture with the hands to ask someone speaking to carry on with what they're trying to say.

Fighting Style: Anything goes, physically. "If it costs the opposition their eyes, so be it." Questions, mentally, because he believes questions inspire thought. "So what does it. . . mean?"

Alignment: Independent

Why They Fight: Cain fights for whatever his conscience tells him to. Either, "This is right," or, "This is wrong." Though he may stray from right, he always returns to it.

Independent is basically OMGcaughtupintheshuffle. Eventually you'll be forced to pick a side, but the difference is everyone else is pulled in during the first update, and the independents slowly trickle in. Quite basically, they end up caught in the crossfire and have to decide who to shoot at.

Character Name: Jonathan Meer
Age: late 20s, early 30s
Brief Biography: Lived a quiet, serene life in a monastery, seeking to better himself through seclusion. Found nothing there and moved out into the world, looking for salvation.
Personality: Lacks many types of inhibitions. Has largely jettisoned a moral or social framework for interaction with the world and lives amidst the chaos. Does not maintain connections to individuals, or morals. Is largely utilitarian in his moral understanding, though he is quite loose in the way he values the lives of others. Is not self-sacrificial. Employs reason to interact in the world, but molds it with his emotions. He is not constrained by social understandings of masculinity, and can appear emotionally unstable. The one value he strongly respects and seeks to maintain is life of any sort. Can appear unpredictable, but is not dangerous, and is not quick to fight.
Fighting Style: Very controlled; while he is emotionally open, he does not tend to have strong emotional responses to combat, as he rarely engages in it. Defensive, acrobatic, controlled.
Alignment: Independent
Why They Fight: For the experience.

Character Name: Piper Juunanagou
Age: 28
Brief Biography: Hailing from a bleak future, Piper didn't have the most wonderful life (see my bio for the long, melodramatic tale). On the bright side, things have gotten a lot better for her personally and mentally since her arrival in the present time. She has made several friends and has grown to a peak physical condition. Her recent successes in life have given her a bright outlook on the future.

Personality: Piper is a very reserved woman with a very obvious distrust for strange men. Around those she can feel comfortable with, she comes off as being somewhat witty and always supportive.

Piper is empathic, which means she can become attuned to the emotions of those around her. She also has telepathic and telekinetic abilities. She tends to shy away from touching strangers (even accidentally) as this can trigger her to see/feel the pasts of others. These episodes can be highly traumatic for Piper.

A military field medic, Piper is very accustomed to blood, pain, and death. As a result, she is not squeamish, but this does not mean she is desensitized to the pain of others. In fact, the opposite is usually true, and Piper is sometimes known to go out of her way to protect human life. This does not mean, however, that she is by any means not a fighter.

Fighting Style: Tactical (teleportation and heavy offensives are a frequent)

Alignment: Government

Why They Fight: Piper works for a somewhat secretive military/research organization that operates south of Central City (a ways south, around 70 miles). Her first mission was to help quell insurrectionists in Central City who were trying to overthrow the government (ironic, inorite?). This stems from her organization's interest in the city. As a result, Piper will fight to maintain peace and order in the city, even if the government isn't the best and the brightest.

Character Name: Talon Holmes (The name he adopted once he immigrated to Earth. He doesn’t use his Saiyan name. Only people I allow can “know” his Saiyan name, or much of his history before he took up the name Talon Holmes.)

Age: 34

Brief Biography: Talon is a member of the Saiyan elite, and is a famous retired Intelligence Officer, from the Vegeta Intelligence Agency, although he doesn’t use his Saiyan name for reasons of his own. Many times in the past he has been the Saiyan’s government go to man, with regards to Intelligence, Counterintelligence, Tactics, and battlefield Command. He has been through many wars, and campaigns, and has helped to conquer many planets, and solve many problems for his King in the past. On Earth he has become a famous Consulting Detective, and has been called upon many times by many of the Earth’s governments, and elites, but has also taken less note worthy client’s cases that interest him. Talon is a veteran with an incredible amount of experience, and intelligence.

Personality: Talon is one of (if not the) the smartest men in the universe, and is relatively famous. He is an egoist, an elite, and has a generally “conservative” viewpoint, although many of his views seem radical to Earthlings. With that said though most people that know him say he is very understanding, charming, and kind when he wants to be. It almost impossible to get in his head, although he knows how to connect with people, and has a very good grasp on the underlying physiological reasons that most people do what they do. His old fashion ways and style has been known to have a calming effect on people around him. His natural good looks makes it easy for some more reclusive souls to interact with him.

Fighting Style: Natural. Talon’s skill is based off of twenty plus years of combat experience, combined with a natural ability at fighting.

Alignment: Government/West City

Why They Fight: Talon was hired by West City to keep an eye on, and help Central City. West City has economic interest in keeping Central City up and running, well they have little trust in either the Rebels, or the Assassins. Talon is also there to attempt to keep some of Central’s less then reparable bureaucrats in check. He holds little sympathy for either the Rebels or the Assassins, although he has begun to understand certain aspects of their personalities already by reading their files. Although there to help, and make sure Central City’s government stays in power, he is ultimately there to serve the best interest of West City. Technically he is a foreign diplomat, with regards to his "official" standing.
