Reading speed

We all know we can write, and we all know we can read, but how fast are you guys able to read? I can chew up most individual posts (roughly 300-3,000 words) in under five minutes unless I take my time for more enjoyment.

I'm a decent paced reader, about average I'd say. I usually enjoy to "digest" what I've read though. I'll read something and if it's of any considerable length or high quality then I'll just have to sort of sit on it for ten minutes or so to let it sink in, it helps to really feel it. I think I get a much higher appreciate for somebody's work that way but it can get a bit annoying when I'm trying to catch up on something multiple pages long.

Uhm, it really depends on the post. If it's really, really enthralling, it goes by way too fast.

The first paragraph usually is what determines how fast i read, that and if im distracted by something else, usually about 10 minutes.

Totally depends. I prefer to take it slow (not really sure how long that is), but I tend to read a fairly significant pace slower than I actually can. I find I absorb more this way and it lets me mull over whatever's happening (which might be the reason why I absorb more *shrug*).

So yeah... hard to say, I guess. I read a university text a hell of a lot faster than an RP. But I also consider gouging my eyes out when reading university texts, so...

I'm trying to read for pleasure whenever I read though. Also going to try taking notes while reading, for personal understanding.

I'm like Sage. My max reading speed is possible, but I find I might misread a word or not take in the entireity of what I'm reading. A little slower is better.

Generally if I read something at all, I read it slow (ie slower than my 'maximum'). If it's not worth taking the time to do that, seems logical that I shouldn't read it in the first place. I hate half-assing things, and skimming includes that. It's why I never manage to finish a lot of books, which is ironic.

Never really tried to gauge my reading speed. I'm sure that I can read fairly fast, but actually retaining what I read may be different.

I usually read at a rather slow pace, to make sure I fully comprehend what's going on.

Back when we had reading comprehension in sixth grade, I got 450 a minute at max, with enough comprehension to answer the easy-ass questions at the end.

That feels like way too much of a rush to actually enjoy something though. These days, most of my reading is accompanied with spacing-out time thinking about the things presented in the texts.
