It wasn't a question.

The car in your picture is a Buick Grand National, 3.8 liter turbocharged V-6.

A Chevrolet or Monte Carlo it is not.

blah. yeah. an 86 or 87 buick it seems like. honestly, i just typed in monte carlo 85 in google images. XD wanted to find the best angle, running throu pics, relying on the search. slipped me.

u gotta admit though, at a quick glance it they look alike (besides the difference in grills)

edit: and there's no need to put a "or" between chevy and monte carlo.

Yeah, true. That 'slight' distinction is worth a good 20 thousand dollars extra for the GN, though. XD

Worse yet, a minty GNX (an optional package on the Grand National) is worth over 100,000 USD, and is a better performing car than even the Corvette of its time. A minty Monte Carlo... is not. lol

Still, the Monte's are really nice. One in nice condition would be sweet, but please ditch the fucking boat anchor 305 those things came with. It's not worth investing any money into, given a fucking stock Honda Civic could walk you with that 5.0 piece of shit. Besides, a running 350 goes for... what? $300? That's instant horsepower and torque gains. XD

EDIT: To respond to your edit, I just meant 'it is neither a Chevrolet nor a Monte Carlo.' :p

The problem that most 80's Carlo's have is the transmission usually. At least from knowledge passed down to me. So I'm thinkin that maybe I'll get a used one that ain't worn down much. I'll probably try and get a car before that, boost it up, and sell it to get the money needed to get a minty carlo and put some rims, tints, and a system in it; then put money to the side to prepare for when/if i need to get it repaired, or parts replaced.

The stock 305 is still a piece of shit. XD

Anyway. Just swap out the trans.

The T-56s are starting to become slightly more plentiful if you're looking for a standard.

I have a T-56, and I've never had any issues. It's also the same transmission the Dodge Viper uses (well, the new one uses a TR6060, but whatever), so I'm pretty sure you won't have to worry about putting too much torque through it for a while. =D

If you're looking for an auto, either a 700R4 or a 4l60E would be your best bet. The 4l60E would require some computer nonsense, though, so if you'd rather not have computers under the engine bay then you should probably disregard the second option.

Oh! If you are going for a stick, don't even bother with the T5. It's a piece of shit. If you intend to drive your car hard once in a while, it will grenade. My friend has pieces of synchro and a broken shift fork to prove it.

EDIT: Oop, forgot to mention. T-56 is a 6-speed so you'd need to do some work to get it to fit into such an old car. I believe they sell mounting kits for the Monte, though, so it shouldn't be too big a stretch.

Second car: (it's kinda dark and hard to see. 98 Camry) http://b1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/00838...9521_l.jpg
What happened to my second car: http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/image...4aeb00.jpg
Third car: 99 Chevy Malibu (totaled in a collision with the guardrail on the freeway...then the other guardrail.)
Current car: 99 Ford Taurus

Too lazy to take pics of the latest car, and didn't get any of the Malibu.

Weren't you just talking about how worried you were that your engine was on its way out.

Investing money for adding power would be a bad idea if that's the case. =x

I know right? =/ Might as well just help it along and have fun.

Plus each time I open my mouth I learn something. Maybe I can save it yet. Muwahaha

Or you could just swap in a 4ag Formula Atlantic Group A Spec engine like I suggested.

Come on, man, I found one for only $11,500 AUD. The only problem is it's meant for a rear wheel drive Corolla but that can be fixed.

PLUS it's a smaller engine than the one you currently have so it'll, uh, be better on fuel.

*Ahem*

Yeah.
