Wyatt’s eyes quickly opened as the sound of the morning bells chimed throughout the temple, he moved himself from the bed and into standing position in the middle of the room – he then dropped the ground prostrating himself on the floor, then climbed back up to his feet.
“One,” he muttered to himself.
The morning ritual continued with the days prostrations. A way to show service, a form of fitness, and a request of his teacher. “Two hundred prostrations first thing each morning,” were the words his teacher had used. Wyatt accepted this without frustration, or confrontation, and now has begun to enjoy his morning routine.
After the prostrations, Wyatt left his room and descended the stairs heading towards his teacher’s meditation room. He knocked before entering.
“Young monk, welcome to today, take a seat. I have a request of you,” the master said.
Wyatt sat, silently as his master proceeded to talk.
“A Sasquatch has invaded our village, it is currently being held captive in the guest room of the biggest house in the village. It will not be held at bay for long. I wish of you to go and help the villagers, rid us of this invader as you see fit,” the master stated, closing his eyes as he finished and going into a deep meditation.
Wyatt stood up and left the room quietly. He stood silently for a minute thinking about the best approach to the current situation; he remembered his master’s flute. It had been rumoured that playing this flute calmed Sasquatch and allowed people to touch them. Even though his master had always denied the rumours Wyatt grabbed the flute from its home and hurried of toward the captured Sasquatch.
“Wyatt has arrived, let him through,” shouted a few villages as Wyatt arrived at the house. Obviously, he was expected.
Wyatt remained silent as he walked past the villagers who were all crowded around the house; he made contact with each and nodded discreetly to a few. He climbed the front steps and opened the door to the home.
He was suddenly thrown back as the six foot Sasquatch, no longer imprisoned jumped through the front door throwing Wyatt ten feet back into the snow. Wyatt sat up slowly, as the Sasquatch began to terrorise the villagers, chasing them back and forth growling hideously. He pulled out his master’s flute and began to play, closing his eyes and breathing slowly, praying that it would work.
The screams and growls began to die down as the Wyatt continued to play the flute’s music. Soon all was quiet. Wyatt stopped playing and opened his eyes. Beside him lay the Sasquatch staring up contently at Wyatt.
“Come, my friend,” Wyatt muttered to the beast.
He walked through the town, beast right behind all villagers stunned and staring until he reached the mountain pass.
“Please, return to your lands, be with your family, take care of yourself,” Wyatt again muttered staring into the animals eyes.
With one quick howl the beast leaped off into the mountains.
Wyatt sat down, meditated for three hours then returned to his master.
“What will you now have me do master?” asked Wyatt upon return.
“Clean the bathroom,” he replied.
