To be honest tho, I did learn a lot..and I got the ring jitters out..I gotta say I was so fucking nervous stepping in there..
No offense, but somehow I think it wasn't really that much of a bullshit call. You might have not got up immediately, or started swaying around and not looking stable enough. Of course, it might have been one, but from the experience I have with fights, both fighting and refereeing, when someone goes down and stands limp for 2-3 seconds, and even gets up, but starts stumbling around because they're very affected, it's a technical knock-out. Depends on how far the fights can go, because I've been in tournaments where a real knock-out is the only way out of a fight short of giving up, and in ones where you get knocked out for a simple kick to the head.
Just because a really hard kick to the head doesn't knock you out, doesn't mean it couldn't affect someone very badly or even make them pass out. And there are people who simply hide it well enough to not appear injured. Hence why referees have to end it then. The risk is huge in fighting.
And yeah, when I was in that real-knock-out tournament, I gave up within 30 seconds of the start.
EDIT: Oh, and think of it from a referee's point of view, keeping in mind that there would be tons of competitors. You don't want huge injuries, and you have to pay attention and see when enough's enough. You can't always tell right. And you can't ask, because the fighters won't admit being fatigued or injured, unless it's something severe and they can't hide it.
