Just played my first normal game as Alistar. 3/13/14

Not bad. Their Tryn was a force to be reckoned with. Basically we just had to keep him stunned to kill him.

I keep running practice games with tanks to increase my survivability in normals. So far: health regen Mundo (beastly), armor and health Malphite (always fun), and AP Alistar (didn't finish, was too tired). Need to buy Nasus and check him out. I've also been looking into "hit-and-run" champions, too.

2.5 is the attack speed cap. It IS pretty intense. However, you were way past that cap.

I took out the Greaves and Nashor's and you only drop to 2.398 (that number, btw, represents the number of attacks you perform per second).

With that in mind, I'd recommend using Boots of Swiftness or Mercury's Treads for movement (depends on the team your against) and probably Executioner's Calling.

The net effect is to lose a little bit of attack speed, ability power, and cooldown reduction to gain magic resist, CC resist, lifesteal, crit chance, target healing reduction and it will cost a little less gold (1200-something versus 1300-something).

I'd get Phantom Dancer once you can afford it. It's a huge upgrade over Zeal.

I think I'd try

Boots > Malady > Stark's or Phantom Dancer > Triforce

and the game is probably already over by that point

Depending on who you are fighting should determine what boots you get. Ninja Tabi or Mercury Treads imo. Also, against certain champs it's a good idea to grab Executioner's asap.

I'll be running a bunch of practice games with him.

I think Tiger Stance + Malady will make for some decent DPS.

EDIT: Maybe I lied. I'll probably be trying the new Tryn.

Yeah, they dropped a patch today.

New Ryze sounds cool. Adding AoE is always nice, and his Overload should get a decent increase in damage.

I'll be very interested to see how the new snowball items perform. I'm a little sad the soulstealer was changed, but oh well. Also, hell yes to having Cleanse on an item now.
