The Black Hole
#21
Milk Bubble, I'm sure Leo is aware of the rules. That isn't what's being discussed here. What Leo is proposing would require an amendment to the rules which would allow them to be broken in this forum.

Fighting to the bitter end is an advantage when your opponent does not wish to perish.

So, would you delete those 2 rules that apply to all boards, or would you just say "Hey well these 2 rules don't apply to this specific board".

How would that benefit these forums in any way?

If you really just want to rage at someone that bad, do it on your own time in PMs or contact them on AIM/a messenger program or whatever.

It isn't that black and white. We're talking about regulating a forum where it's okay to call someone out vulgarly. We would need to create an amended rule section for it that would separate the forum from the rest of the boards like I've been saying in my previous posts. As for the benefit I don't think it would do much. I hold Ashe's view for the most part.

Well, if that's your opinion, and if you're tired of people flaming in threads. You know, you are a moderator. You could like, moderate it.

Milk Bubble Wrote:And I'm saying we don't need that shit here. You can rage at each other on your own time. In case you have forgotten, this is a forum for roleplaying DBZ (or it was, until you guys have kind of turned into your own universe kind of from my understanding). Now, think of people coming here to roleplay, and they see the off topic forums as this giant black of hole of people constantly attacking their opinions and raging at them for whatever reason. Do you really think they're going to want to stick around?

This forum isn't for attacking each other and debating, and you should feel lucky that the moderators and admins have even provided you with a place to debate at all, as this really isn't the place for that kind of thing. In fact, I'm sure the only reason they have is because they were tired of people derailing other threads because of trivial debates. The least you can do is keep this forum civil so that maybe more people will join in order to fulfill it's primary role, to roleplay.

Then why are you here? You don't roleplay. Literally your only contribution is making asinine arguments and derailing threads. You embody every 'bad quality' that you listed that this site currently has. And I think it's time to wake up, this isn't a a forum solely for the purpose of DBZ Roleplaying. 75% of the people active on this site in general do not roleplay. Yes, that is the site's expressed purpose, but in practice this place is more like a community hangout, where people who have built relationships over the years come to talk about trivial shit, debate more serious things, and also, occasionally, roleplay.

If you stuck the Black Hole Thread as a sub-forum-thread thing within the Kame House, or made it something like the Kame House, then potential joinees wouldn't see it. As it is, potential joinees do not see the serious debates within the Kame House, I don't believe. So your whole point about people not wanting to join is literally mute. But if you're arguing that people would join and then leave after realizing what they are, then I'm going to say that that point is mute in practice anyways. Who do you see walking through that door? People join and never post, OOC or IC, or post for a week then vanish, before they ever even witness the confines of the Kame House. Do you think it's the asylum that scares them off, or the lack of activity, or maybe the fact that DBZ has kind of passed as a fad? People aren't coming in, we have to realize who we are, and build a community around that. It sounds defeatist, but it's the truth.

Also, look, for example, at the rage-rant that Orsalis posted towards Kaden in the Kame House. Yes that was heated, and it was kind of ugly between T. Merr (not even involved) and Orsalis. But Orsalis and Kaden worked out differences in a day that could have boiled over into other threads for much, much longer then that BECAUSE OF THE RAGE-RANT THREAD. Now obviously that won't happen every single time, but I know that there are a number of members on this site who are not particularly fond of me, and who I am not particularly fond of, but if we had a forum where we could air everything out, it must just work out something good in the end.

If you were so gung-ho about getting this site 'back on track' as a roleplaying community strictly for roleplaying purposes and one that avoided debates of any kind, then your first order of business would be to show yourself the god damn door.

Why the hostility? I know I'm a moderator and I do moderate threads. I moderate most of everything.

But the feelings would still be there and meld into their debating. It's very clear, particularly in CDBZ debates, when some people simply get enough and it colors the way they debate vividly. This is to vent these feelings and make the debate purely debate.

I'm here because I tried to leave and people asked me to stay.

And you're right, I don't have any reason to be here. I would like to leave because everyone here is kind of a complete asshole to me for no reason. So thanks for making that even more apparent. I WILL be showing myself the "god damn door". You guys can attack each other all you want, but I'm tired of that shit, and I'm tired of you doing it to me for no reason at all. I thought you guys could be civil and debate things without being giant douchebags. I guess not.

You are one of the biggest offenders of uncivil debating. You use underhanded sarcasm and derailing and such in order to accomplish the same thing, while appearing like you are not. That's why people are assholes to you at times, because you are an asshole to begin with. For example, earlier in this thread, you made some snide comments towards Vad and I literally, literally had to withhold the urge to rip you apart on a public forum, because you are so hypocritical.

You don't have to leave, all you have to do is admit that your view of this site is incorrect. It's okay to be here without roleplaying and it's okay to have a nonroleplaying community. I'm okay with that, I said that, you are not, which means if anyone is showing you the door it's you.

The whole reason I don't want people to be assholes to me is because it hurts. I'm not calling them out on it because I just want to insult them and call them an asshole, I want them to stop because it hurts my feelings a lot. So many times I have read Chubbs and just burst into tears because someone has insulted me and hurt me personally. I'm so tired of coming here and crying and being depressed, the whole reason I came here in the first place is because I literally have zero friends in real life and I was hoping to finally have people to talk to and maybe make some friends. But I guess if all I do is be assholes to people, and that's why people are always so mean to me, then I will leave, because I'm tired of people hurting me here. I can only take so much.

Just going to politely bop this thread to remind everyone that we're here to discuss Leo's idea. I know tensions run high, but please try to keep it on topic.

This is a awesome idea. Well, as long as it doesn't carry over into other threads/pms.

Personally, that's the only problem I see. I could easily see a heated abortion topic slipping into the like/hate thread, for instance. Or causing actual hatred between members.

I mean, I'd like to pretend everyone is mature. But let's be honest. When people get angry, bad stuff can happen. Stuff people regret. I mean, sure, you could strip them of access to the forum but the damage would already be done.

Still, if there is a way around that, I'm all for it. Not that it matters that I'm all for it.

I honestly don't see any reason to have a thread where we can yell "GOD VAD IS SO DUMB WITH HIS TRILOGIES". If you need to vent to someone, jump on AIM and vent. I can't see anything positive coming out of a thread where people can see how much other people hate them.

You know, I could see this forum working. Fuck, there are lots of times where it would be really helpful.

Take a look at Orsalifried's Kame House post to Kaden/T. Merr. He was PISSEEDDDD last night. I certainly couldn't calm him down. He vented his rage in an individual thread (like a lunatic). Guess what? Everything's all better now.

It would probably save a lot of derailing/locking of threads, which I really fucking hate.

I mean, C&C could be a really poisonous forum. You have open grounds to criticize somebody's writing! Criticize their art. However, most people are really grateful when somebody points out things they're doing wrong.

I know I would be pleased as punch if a person were to vent their issues outside of a thread instead of taking things away from the discussion at hand, even if they were bitching about me. Also, it gives the attackee some room to explain themselves without having to take MORE attention away from the original point of the thread.

Bitches need to stop getting so worked up over the internet.
