Like I said earlier, I didn't reveal my role until I already had majority votes. At that point, I could either wait until the day ended and be lynched or hope that my power (not my character name) seemed townie enough to pull me out. If Singed wasn't a "bad guy" I think my power would have seemed defensive enough to pass scrutiny.

In order to buy some time for signups on LoM2 as well as to possibly provoke more interest, I wanted to finally address some things with the last game. I apologize also for failing do wrap up as appropriately as intended, as I'd had some things come up shortly after that prevented me from even participating in the following Mafia games and by the time I had the spare time to do so, it seemed like the timing was pointless.

---

Notes: This game was a blast to run with huge participation and effort from nearly all parties. Of 18 people to sign up, 5 people were originally mafia. I'll try to divulge what I can based on the notes that I took, which were fairly thorough but my memory may interrupt. I'll also try to offer some GM perspectives on things that might have come up.

1 - Josh (Evelynn)
2 - Kami (Urgot)
3 - Vad (Leblanc)
4 - Whompt (Singed)
5 - Jonathon Meer (Mordekaiser)
6 - Kaden (Warwick)
7 - Waffuru (Kog'maw)
8 - Kole T. Merr (Amumu)
9 - Jarka (Lee Sin)
10 - Sigfried (Karthus)
11 - John Doe (Olaf)
12 - Rafael (Soraka)
13 - Celena (Kayle)
14 - Piper (Shen)
15 - Leo (Zilean)
16 - Rose (Cho'gath)
17 - Mal Nova (Twisted Fate)
18 - Orion (Pantheon)

Mafia members:
Josh, Kami, Vad, Whompt, Meer, *Kaden (As the Ghost of Warwick)

Townspeople:
*Kaden (at the start), Waffuru, Teemer, Jarka, Sigfried, John Doe, Rafael, Celena, Piper, Leo, Rose, Mal Nova, Orion

Other Factions:

On day one I sent the following PMs to the following people:

Kaden:
Quote:Warwick - Bloodscent -If no player is lynched, then the role, alignment, and abilities of the player with the most votes will become known to you. This is not a targetted ability. Town. Triggered ability.

Waffuru:
Quote:Kog'maw - Icathian Surprise -When you die, you may choose one person to kill. This may not be redirected or prevented by any ability. Town. Triggered ability.

Whompt:
Quote:Singed - Poison Trail -If someone targets an ability on you at night, they will die after their action if not protected. Mafia. Triggered ability.

Teemer:
Quote:Amumu - Curse of the Sad Mummy -All posts you make must sound whiny. All night actions requiring a target will be unable to resolve due to no one being able to move that night, instead forced to listen to you complain.

One time use. Town. Night role.

---

I'm amazed, 18 people, random, and yet you get him.

Jarka:
Quote:Lee Sin - Blindness/Safeguard -All posts you make must be in white font. Each day that you do so, you will reduce the number of total lynch votes against you by one. Town. Day role.

Jonathan Meer:
Quote:Mordekaiser - Children of the Grave -Choose a target. That player loses all abilities and is now your Ghost. You and this player can communicate directly with each other and they can not vote you for a lynch vote. If you die, your Ghost dies. If investigated, your Ghost's role will be revealed as "Ghost" instead of their previous role, with the "mafia" alignment. One time use. Mafia. Night role.

Sigfried:
Quote:Karthus - Death Defied -You can continue to post for two days after you die and can still vote during that time. Town. Triggered ability.

John Doe:
Quote:Olaf - Beserker Rage -You are now a bro, bro, and must speak like one while typing your posts over some Graggy Ice. Every two lynch votes against you will add one lynch vote to votes made by you, bro. Town. Triggered ability.

Rafael:
Quote:Soraka - Infuse -Choose a target. If the target is an enemy, their ability will be unable to resolve. If the target is an ally, you will add one charge to any limited use ability they may have. Four time use. Town. Night role.

Vad:
Quote:Leblanc - Mirror Image -At the beginning of the game, choose one person. If an action or lynch would happen to you, it would happen to that person instead. Lynch votes against you will be totalled seperately from your target, not adding together, and thus can not make a majority vote if one would otherwise not happen. One time use. Mafia. Triggered ability.

Celena:
Quote:Kayle - Intervention -You can choose a target to make immune to all lynch votes and targetted abilities for the current day and following night, or current night and following day. Your role will be announced. One time use. Town. Day role or Night role.

Piper:
Quote:Shen - Stand United -Each night, you may choose one target to save from a single death attempt if one is made. Town. Night role.

Leo:
Quote:Zilean - Chronoshift -You can save someone from a lynch vote and end that day. Your role will be announced. One time use. Town. Day role.

Rose:
Quote:Cho'gath - Feast -You may kill a target. If you do, your role will be revealed, but not your alignment. Two times use. Town. Night role.

Mal Nova:
Quote:Twisted Fate - Destiny -Each night you may choose a target and reveal the name of that player's role to yourself, as well as a description of their abilities. Town. Night role.

Kami:
Quote:Urgot - Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverser -Choose a target. All actions choosing your target will be treated as if you were the target instead, and vice versa. Mafia. Night role.

Orion:
Quote:Pantheon - Aegis Protection -Posts you make must have a picture of a baked good. The first time you are targetted for a kill attempt, you will deflect it, protecting you from death. One time use. Town. Triggered ability.

Josh:
Quote:Evelynn - Shadow Walk -You are immune to all targetted abilities but not Bloodscent. Mafia. Triggered ability.

***

There is one ability that I immediately changed as I was sending it out - Twisted Fate. The original version of this was going to only inform the opponent of what their character was but no further information. It would not reveal abilities or anything else. The moment I saw it going to Mal Nova in his first Mafia game, I had a choice to make. I could either leave it as is and risk it scarring his enjoyment of the game as he had not played LoL before and thus could not be expected to know anything about the characters, meaning outside of announcing their names to other players who could believe or disbelieve him at will, his ability was entirely useless to him as a person - he couldn't even begin to deduce what their possible skills were.

So I added the tweak that it would say their ability as well despite really not wanting to give that information.

As I was sending out the pregame roles, I was receiving PMs asking me immediate questions about roles.

The very first PM that I received was at from Whompt, stating:
Quote:Clarification: does that mean that they will die before the next day phase? As is, before they can say anything if they are the sheriff? Also, I'm Mafia? Double also, by triggered ability, do I need to activate it or is it always on? Triple also, shouldn't I know who else is mafia? Quadruple also, can this power be used more than once?

My reply was:
Quote:They will die after their action resolves, if it is night. So their result will happen, and it may or may not affect something - depending on the type of role. They will be unable to speak before their death because they will be dead by morning from poison. If they use an action on you during the day, your ability will not trigger and they will not die.

You are mafia. I will send a new message to the mafia stating who all is mafia.

I'm going to post a game rules.

I then sent a message to four people - Meer, Kami, Vad, and Whompt:
Quote: Followup
The four of you are mafia. You are able to speak to each other at night and can have one person of your choosing send in an action each night to kill a player mafia style.

Kami - Urgot
Meer - Mordekaiser
Whompt - Singed
Vad - LeBlanc

In my preperation, even I overlooked Evelynn's stealthiness and had to immediately follow it up with a fix:

Quote: Re: Followup

Amendment - There is one more mafia role that I forgot on the list due to bad notation. Hopefully this doesn't unbalance things too much.

Josh - Evelynn

I then needed to send a bit of errata to Waffuru to fix an amendment that I had overlooked from his skill, adding on my way of explaining True Damage in game terms at the time.
Quote:Quote:

Amendment - This is not considered to be a targeted ability.

He simply responded "Surprise!" to acknowledge it.

Sigfried messaged me asking me "Do I still count as 'Alive' for the purposes of victory conditions?" to which I replied "During that time, sure."

Vad messaged me back regarding his choice for a Mirror Image target with "I'd like to mirror Rafael. Thanks." as his message.

---

Entering Day One, we saw lots of discussion and little actual action. John Doe immediately leapt onto his role by typing like a true bro, while Teemer immediately began whining his ass off in great Amumu action. I responded to any questions that I could while really enjoying the way many people were interpretting their character roles in public, watching with amusement as the speculating had begun.

On Day one I noted that Vad (LeBlanc) had chosen Rafael (Soraka) for Mirror Image.

John Doe voted for Josh.
Josh voted for John Doe.
Teemer voted for John Doe.
Waffuru voted for Sigfried.
Kami voted for Rose.
Rose voted for Kami.
Mal Nova voted for John Doe.

Doe = 3 votes, Sig = 1 vote, Josh = 1 vote (+1) ((2)), Rose = 1 vote, Kami = 1 vote.

Doe's ability as Olaf kicked in, causing him to add +1 to his vote against Josh in his Beserker Rage, totalling Josh at 2 votes without anyone knowing exactly why.

However, a true lynch did not happen, and thus the wolf howled...

"Kaden's Bloodscent tracks John Doe" was what I wrote for John Doe having the highest number of votes on a day when a lynch had failed.

I sent Kaden the following PM:
Quote:Quote:
Warwick - Bloodscent -If no player is lynched, then the role, alignment, and abilities of the player with the most votes will become known to you. This is not a targetted ability. Town. Triggered ability.
This may or may not apply to this specific situation, but I want to clarify something that I may not have properly worded. I will not state the name of the player that you have sensed. I will tell you the role, alignment, and abilities of the player with the most votes after abilities are checked. This will usually coincide with what is posted on the forum, but it is not perfect information and there is the possibility that the information you receive, while accurate, may not be the player you believe it to be.

--

Your keen senses have detected the foul, beer ridden scent of Olaf! The fierce viking warrior storms into battle on the plains, absorbing his opponent's taunts and blows (BROJOB BRO) until he bleeds out viciously, inciting him to simply hit harder and faster. You stumbled upon him as he vanished from within a bush, but the strong blood alcohol levels flowing through his veins lingered with such ferocity that even one without your abilities would know he had been there.

Quote:
Olaf - Beserker Rage -You are now a bro, bro, and must speak like one while typing your posts over some Graggy Ice. Every two lynch votes against you will add one lynch vote to votes made by you, bro. Town. Triggered ability.

This sent us into the Night Phase, where someone would be denied their right to Day 2...

The first night was an interesting one, starting with Mal Nova sending me the following PM:
Quote:LOM: Using Destiny on...
John Doe

Not one hour behind him, I began to receive more questions regarding abilities. Celena sent me the following:
Quote:What do you mean 'Town'? My role can only be used on a townsperson?
My response was
Quote:http://www.cdbzrpg.com/forum/showpos...40&postcount=1

First post, first section -

Quote:
Every player has been sent a role. A typical role card will look like the following.

Quote:
(Character Name) - (Name of Ability) -(Description of ability)(Use limit if there is one)(Alignment)(Ability Classification).
Here's an example that is not in the game:

Nunu-bot - Love of Pushing - You must use the word push at least twice in every post you make. Lynch votes you make will receive +1 to them. Town. Triggered ability.

His name is Nunu-bot. His ability (and desire) is "Love of Pushing". This requires that he use the word push at least twice in every post he makes. Additionally, all lynch votes he makes will have +1 added to them. The ability does not state anything about "revealing your role" so the effect will be a secret modifier that will not be known until the final result. He is a member of the town. His ability is a Triggered ability.

His response was to send me the following two messages: "Okay. I'd like to make John Doe immune to lynch votes." "and targetted abilities." Given that this was the first day, I wanted to make sure people didn't make a simple understanding error so I replied to him the following:
Quote:Alright. What will happen is that at the end of the Day phase, he will gain invulnerability, so if a lynch would happen on him (if he has the most votes), he will not be killable. He will also be unable to be targeted for any targeted abilities in this next Night phase.

When this happens during the Day's final closing post, you will be revealed as Kayle. This ability will consume its One Time Use charge, which means that most likely you will not be able to use your ability again this game for anyone else.

Are you sure? (I'm not encouraging or discouraging, I just want to make sure you understand how it will play out - barring any other ability interfering with your own).

Becoming aware of this, he decided "If I can only use my ability once throughout the game, then I'll save it."

---

I also, after a lot of consideration, decided to amend the Karthus ability a bit as I (at the time) didn't feel that the Requiem side of things was properly tuned for the game. It felt like Karthus, but I felt that it could be so much more. I sent him the following:
Quote:I modified your ability.

You will now only be able to continue posting and voting for one day after you die. You will be considered part of a win if the game ends within three days of your death.

I have added Requiem onto your ability. "When you die, you will add +3 lynch votes to all players in the next Day phase, allowing the possibility of multiple lynches due to multiple "majorities"."

I now know that, due to the way things turned out, that if I did something like this again, I would absolutely not do it to the strength that I applied it.

---

I also fixed a simple error regarding Jarka's Lee Sin ability with "I meant to modify something. Your ability is not a Day role, it is a Triggered ability."

She fired back for a question of "Oh, I was also wondering: does the effect stack cumulatively? (Three days of doing so = -3 lynch votes)" to which I simply replied "No."

---

On a similar note, Josh asked me: "My shadow walk ability, does it tell me when someone has tried to use an ability on me?" to which I replied "No."

---

My response to Mal Nova's attempt at using Destiny was:
Quote:Your Destiny reveals John Doe to be...

Olaf - Beserker Rage -You are now a bro, bro, and must speak like one while typing your posts over some Graggy Ice. Every two lynch votes against you will add one lynch vote to votes made by you, bro. Triggered Ability.

---

During all of this, I also received a notice from Rafael with the following:
Quote:Gonna use this on...JD. 3/4 charges left

Quote:
Soraka - Infuse -Choose a target. If the target is an enemy, their ability will be unable to resolve. If the target is an ally, you will add one charge to any limited use ability they may have. Four time use. Town. Night role.

---

At the end of the night, my notes said the following:

Mal Nova - Targets John Doe for Destiny
Rafael - Targets John Doe for Infuse
MAFIA NEVER SENT A KILL REQUEST

*Now this last comment is huge as it really shifted the momentum quite early in the game. As seen above with all of those PMs, not one was a target for the Mafia's ability, which might have made or broken the game, we'll never know...

And on to Day 2.

Day 2 was rather eventful and heavily accusing, with a much larger amount of votes cast towards a possible lynch victim.

Teemer voted Josh
John Doe voted Sigfried
Josh voted John Doe
Mal Nova voted Josh
Sigfried voted Josh
Waffuru voted Josh
Jarka voted Josh
Vad voted John Doe
Kami voted Rose
Rose voted Josh
Celena voted Josh
Whompt voted Teemer

Its interesting to start noting who the actual mafia players began to place their votes for, specifically voting against Teemer, Rose, and two votes against John Doe. Also, with absolutely no information to be proven as of yet, Kaden managed to completely gain the trust of everyone and was able to build a near majority vote against Josh while retracting his vote at the last minute in a bid to use his power once more to help build more security amongst the other players. No one call him on it and voted for a majority bid, instead opting to take the risk that the mafia kill someone while they miss another lynch attempt, for an ability that no one knew for sure existed in the game or had even been informed, falling on just a "trust me".

The hilarious, and in some ways unfortunate, part is that Kaden's specific ability was the only one in the game that would be able to really directly investigate Eve to find out anything. It was such an unfortunate occurance because Eve was protected from so many of the game's effects, and yet on Day 2 through nothing more than crowd manipulation, with no foreknowledge of any kind, Eve found herself revealed.

---

John Doe - 2 votes
Sigfried - 1 (+1) ((2)) votes
Josh - 7 votes
Rose - 1 vote
Teemer 1 vote

Doe adds +1 to Sigfried using Beserker's Rage.

Kaden's Bloodscent tracks Josh.

---

The PMs of the day...

To Kaden:

Your keen senses become aware of the Mistress of Malice, Evelynn... She strikes silently in the night, dealing out death for the mafia with a subtle dagger in just the right places, quickly vanishing the moment anyone tries to interfere. She is safe... but not from you!

Quote:
Evelynn - Shadow Walk -You are immune to all targetted abilities but not Bloodscent. Mafia. Triggered ability.

Additionally, John Doe specifically asked me "Are you eliminating any inactives? I don't think Piper has posted once since we started." to which I replied "No."

And thus we moved into the night...

Night 2 was quite interesting and as mind blowing of timing as Kaden's tracking of Eve. Kami sends me a target for the mafia a bit early to ensure that SOMEONE sent SOMETHING this time. His message simply states "Kaden. It's early but whatever." Definitely better than no target at all. So I'm beginning to think that Kaden is boned, now that he's made himself a target, and Eve might actually be safe, her identity secure and all loose ends tied up.

Fuck no, not in this game. Teemer sends a PM an hour and a half later with the following:
Quote:Quote:

One time use. Town. Night role.

---

I'm amazed, 18 people, random, and yet you get him.
I'm doin this thing. Night Action tonight.

Turns out, when Kaden leaves a message at the end of the day explaining his retracted vote with "I'll explain tomorrow. There's a good reason for it," that's the type of thing that Teemer wants to find out, enough so that he's willing to blow a one charge effect to ensure that he DOES find out, one way or another. Now this blew my mind, because I fully expected this to be used later, but the timing was just... insane. Flat out insane. And crucial. This prevented so many effects that night, but most specifically stopped the mafia's kill attempt, mostly because, as he said later, he just thought it would be hilarious to see the mafia miss two nights in a row of kills. This was something that made that first miss even more crucial and also gave the town more time to gather information.

---

I also received PMs from others, such as Rose:
Quote:Quote:

NOT USIN MY ABILITY TONIGHT!

Just in case you're waiting on me or something. I probably should've done this yesterday too.

---

Mal Nova, informing me in the title that he was Using Destiny on... "Whompt".

---

Piper, throwing some activity in with:
Quote:Quote:

I choose John Doe

---

Rafael, wanting to use Infuse once more on Kaden:
Quote:Kaden Again

Quote:

I think he was assuming that Kaden's ability was a charged one, because I wasn't actually telling him directly if his target was silenced (which would note a general message that something prevented the effect, which could have been a number of things) or actually granted a charge, as that would tell him if someone was Mafia or Town indirectly. I tried to leave him completely unaware as to the effect unless he knew who a player's role was and if they attempted to use their own ability.

---

Kole T. Merr - uses his Curse of the Sad Mummy.
Mal Nova - Targets Whompt for Destiny.
Piper - Targets John Doe with Stand United.
Rafael - Targets Kaden with Infuse.
Kami - Targets Kaden for Mafia Execution.

Amumu's ability prevents anyone else from acting.

Going into Day 3, I had to laugh at how much Doe's ability was actually taking effect, as I don't think if it had landed on anyone else (with perhaps a more innocent resume in previous mafia games) that it would have gotten to such strong limits, though I don't believe at this moment that it ever did actually swing a vote. Even still, today was a day, the day that Kaden lived and could spread the good word - Josh was a traitor, but one that only he could verify.

This left the townspeople and mafia alike in a gamble. Could Kaden be bluffing in his ability to investigate? Surely the real "Sheriff" role would be able to verify as well, right? But what if there wasn't another role and Kaden's was as good as it got? Mal Nova knew what his own role was, but could he trust in Kaden's claim that only he could say for certain what Josh's role and alignment were? What if Kaden himself were the mafia member?

He hadn't died the previous night, but then Amumu's ability had been used preventing it.

The town decided to go with it, nearly unanimously voting for lynches on Josh, which Jarka recieving one vote, though they later saw that she avoided that vote... What allowed this, they could only wonder. And speculate they did.

Josh - 17 votes
Jarka - 1 vote (-1) ((0)) votes.

Josh gets lynched by majority vote.
Jarka prevents 1 vote with Safeguard.

---

Suspecting the result, Josh sent me the final PM like the bastard he is...
Quote:So it looks like they are going to Lynch me, if at all possible, can you make it seem like they lynched a towns person at first in your post and then have it revealed it was Evelynn all along?

I just want Kaden to panic for a moment :x

LOLZ.

I replied "I'll see what I can do."

---

I also sent a message to Rafael informing him "Your ability was unable to be used due to Amumu's Curse of the Sad Mummy. You still have your three remaining charges."

Furthermore, I contacted Mal Nova to inform him "Your ability was unable to be used due to Amumu's Curse of the Sad Mummy."

Finally, I gave Piper the bad news, that "Your ability was unable to be used due to Amumu's Curse of the Sad Mummy."

Though not to be forgotten, I told Kami "Your target was unable to be killed due to Amumu's Curse of the Sad Mummy."

That mummy was wrecking big plans.

Now we enter the third night, where all the fun began. The first person to die had been a Mafia! No one expected this, not after so much inaction the first few nights. People smelled blood and it wasn't just Warwick.

Rose immediately sent me a PM informing me: "Gittan hongray ... I think Imon ... EAT KAMI"
I replied with: "When you send me an action, just to make sure I don't do the wrong thing, try to send me your ability. The title made me think this was a mafia kill target before I realized the character."

---

Mal Nova starts getting suspicious or paranoid and tells me to use Destiny on "Johnathan Meer".

---

Jarka mentions to me that my original vote total at the end of the day was messed up and "Silly goose, I should have had zero votes at the end (unless two people voted for me). All my posts were in white."

My response was "Its true, I forgot when posting, was half asleep and mainly just cared about the Josh post."

---

Piper contacts me with "They probably won't hit him since they'll imagine he'll be protected anyway, but...

I'm still gonna protect Kaden with my Shen powers"

---

Now we enter a series of PMs between the mafia regarding the death (or impending, as this began during the day apparently) of their colleague, Josh.

Kami begins with addressing the crowd with the following... "Well this sucks. Sorry Josh.

Murder Doe tonight? He's gathering quite the little following. Kaden needs to die as well."

Josh responds "Meer has his ability to make someone do his bidding, if you could get it to work on Kaden then you'd have someone with bloodscent and then you could use it on yourselves to make it seem like your townspeople." preparing for his eventual but not yet occuring death. After all, a good member of the mafia always gets his arrangements taken care of before making that final trip.

Jonathan Meer chimes in with "If I use my ability, he loses his.

It should be pointed out that he will know I'm Mafia, though he will not be able to lynch-vote for me. There's nothing keeping him, however, from just declaring that I made him a Ghost.

I don't have a problem with using this now. But what are the thoughts of the rest of you? Use it on Kaden, or save it?

One plus side of this is that Kaden will be the definite target of Soraka heals for quite some time."

At this moment in time, everyone still believed that Soraka was healing all kill targets and was what was interfering with the Mafia; after all, the reason behind no one dying night one was only speculation. The mafia decided that Soraka was a real thorn in their side and wanted to find her, not knowing the truth, though it mattered not.

Whompt contributed to the conversation with: "I don't think Kaden will dime you out because your ability makes him Mafia. He'll want to win. And if he does he'll die too, because of the Ghost stuff.

Go ahead and get Kaden on our side. We should whack Doe. With him out, a lot of the talking will be done."

Thus it was decided, prompting Meer to forward all of these to me with the final context: "We're all pretty much of one mind here: kill Doe.

Also, I'm going to be using my ability on Kaden. Just to confirm, this makes him Mafia, correct? Does this give him the ability to participate in the nightly killing vote?

Also, if I could get a forward of the PM you'll be sending Kaden to inform him of his Ghostiness, I'd appreciate it."

I responded stating that "It will make Kaden a member of the Mafia.

It will not give him the ability to participate as a full member of the mafia towards killing votes or even to declare a target - I repeat that point, he is not able to be the one to send in the kill target as he is simply a Ghost, under your control, essentially. If you die, he dies, if he dies, you are unaffected. This is not a kill ability and won't be prevented by things that prevent kill attempts, but there are still other abilities that could possibly interfere.

Should the ability resolve, I will try to remember to forward you a copy of the text."

Thus we reach the conclusion of these abilities, leading to the following scenario...

---

Rose targets Kami for Feast.
Mal Nova targets Johnathon Meer for Destiny.
Piper targets Kaden for Stand United.
Meer targets John Doe for Mafia Execution.
Meer targets Kaden for Children of the Grave.
John Doe was slain by the mafia.

By now I've been addressed on vent with accusations and shenanigans being called. What had been a series of unfortunate and snowballing luck against the mafia from day one was being read as the game being rigged. It didn't help that I made mention of Mordekaiser's appearance and use of his ability, though I declined to announce who the target was. This didn't matter to the townspeople, who were systematically figuring things out (or trampling through things with the stupidest luck, I'm still unsure).

The mafia won an ally by taking the greatest asset the townsfolk had, Kaden. It, unfortunately, cost them both as the townspeople figured out exactly who Mordekaiser targeted and just decided, with no real proof, to ignore anything he said that day. Rose, at the same time, had just completely randomly, with no forewarning, decided to eat the mafia playing Urgot before this ability (that I was concerned would completely break some interactions) could even be used. I am still just... dumbfounded. He later even said it was just a random gut decision, and to this day I don't know how that could have lead to there. I completely do not blame the mafia for speculating a rigged game at that point.

To further seal this fate, I had to begrudgingly (and I hated doing this, because I felt things were just collapsing for the mafia) give Mal Nova his PM informing him of the results of his Destiny...:
Quote:Johnathon Meer is Mordekaiser, the Master of Metal!

Once per game, he can use Children of the Grave on someone, causing them to lose all abilities and become a Ghost under his control.

The timing could not have been more upsetting.

---

At the same time I had sent Kaden and Meer both the following message: "Mordekaiser has created a Ghost of you!
You have been slain by Children of the Grave, piercing any attempts to protect you. You are now respawned as a Ghost of Mordekaiser! You are now a member of the Mafia, only winning the game if the Mafia win and if you survive. If Mordekaiser dies, you will die. Your death will not affect him. You are unable to vote for Mordekaiser in a lynch vote. You will be able to communicate privately through PMs but you will not be informed who the other members of the mafia are unless Mordekaiser chooses to bestow such knowledge upon you. Serve your master well... his success is your very existence at this point."

---

This lead to Mal Nova being able to swing the votes against Meer, causing them to be:

Meer - 8 votes
Waffuru - 3 votes

Meer has been lynched.
Kaden has died as his Ghost.

Additionally, I finally had to drop Orion for simply not participating.

The results of this did not help the opinion that the game had been rigged in any way, leaving only Vad and Whompt as mafia.

This moved us into Night Four...

Night Four began with immediate PMs asking a number of questions...

Celena sent me the following thoughts: "I'm using my ability to protect Mal for this night phase and for the following day phase. If there was ever a time I needed to use my power, it's now. I reckon Mal has sussed out the thrid mafia, and as a result, I'm 75% sure of who the forth mafia is, or rather, the person under Meer's control, and I'm going to lynch that person with my reason during the day phase coming up."

I replied with the following, trying to be sure that no misunderstanding took place with the use of this ability. "Ok, if you are preventing for the Night and following Day, it will be considered a Night ability, not preventing any lynch of today. If you use it to prevent a lynch for today, then you will protect this Day and the following Night instead.

If you wish to use it this Night (to prevent a kill) and the following Day, I'll add that to my list of Night actions."

He confirms "Yes, do that."

---

Similarly, the following exchange occured with Rafael, who asked "Hey, if I use my ability on someone and they have no charges, can they use that skill that night phase?"

I responded with "If you refresh a charge on someone that has a "Limited Use" ability with fewer charges than the maximum, they can use it whenever the next available time to use it is. They will be informed that they have been Infused by Soraka during resolution of your ability, which is at the conclusion of the Night. They'd have to wait till after that before its considered "infused"."

His response was "In that case...I choose Rose" to which I had responded with "You now have 2 charges left." but needed to immediately make an on the spot ruling given that, even if this would be a limited set of giveable charges, I did not want to see this situation develop as far as it was appearing to become. "Also, something I meant to write in there that I didn't realize I had missed. You are unable to target the same target more than once in the game, to prevent some balance problems."

It was a bit inconsistent with the earlier portion of the game, but the mafia had enough going against them. I couldn't allow this potential exploit to happen.

---

Rose lets me know that "Just confirming that I will not be feasting tonight. Saving some room."

---

Piper makes his thoughts known with "I'mma protect Jarka"

---

Whompt also sends me a note regarding 'The big kill' of the night being "Merr. He needs to go."

---

Five hours after Celena's conversation concluded with me, Mal Nova sends me a message informing me that he wanted to use Destiny on "Whompt". I knew the outcome to this already - Singed's Poison Trail was not an ability requiring a target, so Kayle's Intervention would have no effect on it. Mal Nova created his own death here, but I have to admit to being once again frustrated that he directly targetted a mafia member through some preternatural senses I've never seen before or after from him. I regret that this situation came up, given that I know Celena's playstyle and he's very, very careful about the use of an ability like that, so having him completely waste it was not going to be taken very well.

I finally had to conclude the night.

---

I looked at my notes and had the following:

Celena targets Mal Nova for Intervention. Continues to next day.
Mal Nova targets Whompt for Destiny.
Piper targets Jarka for Stand United.
Rafael targets Rose for Infuse.
Whompt targets Merr for Mafia Execution.

I then had to begin the PMs informing people of the results of their Night Actions, leading us into Day Five...

Day Five began with a series of PMs to address those awaiting ability results, though they were, by now, mostly aware.

Mal and I had the following conversation: "Congratulations! You have revealed the mad alchemist, Singed!

His ability is that... if someone used a targeted ability on him during the night, they would receive their result and then promptly die afterwards, if they were not protected from a kill attempt.

You were also given immunity to targeted abilities (such as Mafia execution and Cho'gath Feast) tonight and immunity to lynch votes tomorrow by Kayle, the war angel.

Sadly, Singed's poison is not a targeted ability but a triggered result of you targeting him, which means that you are now dead. You are not able to post your find into the new thread."

His response was "So Soraka didnt protect me lol", continuing the MAJOR assumption that had perpetuated through the game. Since he is out of the game, I inform him that "Soraka isn't a protection role." to which he only says "Oh lol".

---

Rose gets the following: "You have been Infused by Soraka! You have received an additional charge to your Feast ability! You are back at two charges. Use them wisely."

In retrospect, I don't think I like how Cho'gath's ability actually worked. See, I fully expected that the downside of revealing himself with this type of ability would lead the town to thinking he was mafia, making it a risk. But it didn't happen that way. No, the town honed in on everyone who was mafia with no ability to convince them otherwise, yet when actual bait was thrown in front of them, they completely never even considered that it might mean anything at all. Rafael wasn't even informed what the result of his Infuse was, directly anyway, so given that Rose had not Feasted the previous night, there was the thought possibly out there that Cho had been silenced on an attempt, which would make him mafia. Nope, never even got considered.

---

I assume that since Twisted Fate killed himself inspecting Singed before he could reveal anything, Whompt would be safe. No, fuck no. With no reasoning whatsoever to be known, Waffuru just begins a vote to lynch Whompt out of thin air. I can't not do yet another double take by now. He names a few reasons and convinces the others to follow in suit, using information that had slowly began to consistently build from voting habits of those involved.

The votes go through...

Whompt - 6 votes
Sigfried - 2 votes

Whompt has been lynched.

We enter the night, the night of Night Five. At this point there is one mafia left and I'm hoping for an upset, hoping there is something, some way, that Vad can turn things around, having stayed in the quiet for the most part.

All PMs of the night...

Rafael tells me "Jarka, one charge left" for his Infuse ability.

---

Rose decides "Tough call ... but I'm going to Eat Sigfried."

---

Vad inquires "Am I allowed to make a night action because I'm the only mafia? Or was there a specific champ that had to do it?

If not I'd like Leo nuked this night. "

to which I reply "You are the remaining mafia, so you call the hits. Leo it is." and he says "Thanks Big Grin"

---

Piper fires a quit "Protect Jarka."

---

This means that...

Piper targets Jarka for Stand United.
Rose targets Sigfried for Feast.
Vad targets Leo for Mafia Execution.
Raf targets Jarka for Infuse.

We enter Day Six uncertain of the result.

Unrelated to the events at hand, Mal sends me the following PM speculating that "The last Maf is Vad or Raf"
Not wanting to reveal anything despite him being removed from the game by now (and again groaning at his guess, having no idea how) I only say "We'll see. This could get very interesting, and this could fall to a rules interaction if it goes the way I'm afraid it will. Which means, despite the fact that I already decided how it will work out and players are going blindly on huge assumptions, someone's going to cry that they got screwed in the end." I can't help but feel at this point that people are going to be angry, as its just been one thing after another with this game, leaving me spinning in circles.

---

Since the situation is drawing possible, I send Waffuru a message regarding his ability of Icathian Surprise.

"So, uh, if you die to something, what happens is that I PM you early to inform you that you are dying and ask you who you wish to target, as they'll die at the same phase. In a night phase, this wouldn't create a problem as I'd either hope you wouldn't tell people information I'd say (I wouldn't let you choose a target that is already going to die at the same time, since this happens just a bit after that in game), or I would simply "lock in" actions but delay further actions until I had a target from Kog. In a day phase, people see the lynches in advance and you'd PM me accordingly.

That said, if everyone in the Town dies today and only one person is left alive, you'd auto target them and that would end in a draw. Sig has made a bold move based an assumption of information to try to fill the blanks, and its a strong play, but its still one that he's convinced people of when the simple fact is there is limited information that he's not accounting for that may derail his scheme entirely."

---

After the discussion begins about the use of the improved Karthus ability (of which I am REALLY annoyed at this point), Mal sends me further thoughts. "None of them has even remembered that Jarka said her ability is a defense and removes 3 votes from her as long as she types in white..."

I respond that "She said it removes 1 vote, but yes, I've already noticed they are missing that. In addition to some other hidden information.

HUGE risks are being taken.

I'm expecting a stalemate."

---

These are the last of the PMs that I have regarding this. Due to Rose Feasting on Sigfried, Karthus was now channeling Requiem while voting for Death Defied (which while awesome, was not tuned appropriately and I regret that as this situation was the exact worse case scenario it could possibly have been).

We ended with an even spread of results that meant...

Waffuru - 4 votes
Vad - 5 votes
Celena 4 votes
Rose - 3 votes
Jarka - 3 votes
Piper - 3 votes
Rafael - 4 votes

Waffuru gets lynched!
Vad gets lynched!
Celena gets lynched!
Rafael gets lynched!

---

I'm taking a pause here to point out the significance of this. Jarka survived, Piper survived, Rose survived, and Vad had one kill shot coming at him, which his Mirror Image of Rafael would have succumbed to despite dying from his own lynch. I had already decided that the Mirror would die to protect Leblanc before dying to its own effect. Except Waffuru came along and decided that his Icathian Surprise would target Vad, yet another thing I hoped would not happen.

---

Vad's mirror image Rafael takes the fall for him!

Waffuru targets Vad for Icathian Surprise!

---

Everyone was so certain for some reason that Vad was the mafia, making sure to kill him twice just in case while allowing Jarka, Piper, and Rose to all three survive with one vote short of lethal.
