Here are your options. The majority of the time, you already have 1 point Summoner's Insight and 3 points Expanded Mind. Your next 3 points are likely in Meditation. This is all working on the assumption that you'll have one extra point left over, so that is why I'm disregarding builds that do 4 points Swiftness and such - they aren't relevant to the conversation.
So you leftover single point has the following options if you want to get your last point in the third tier (thus removing the option of other trees).
- One point in Good Hands. This will give you 4% reduced time dead. Its a judgement call of how often this is going to matter. Its going to maybe give you a single second or two on your level 18 death respawns. A lot of times, you are in the shop or something and end up delayed about that much time as is when you respawn, at least in my case.
- One point in Swiftness. You get 0.5% additional movement speed. So if you are running around with boots and have something like 350 speed, you'll go up to around 352 or so.
- One point in Scout, increasing the vision range of the wards you have placed by 5%. The actual view increase is so negligible - it will almost never actually help you escape a gank that you would otherwise have died to. Your reflexes will have to be godlike to matter in that situation. Also, take into account the way line of sight actually works and no matter where you place it, you've gained nothing. There are images up as well that show exactly the increase it gives you - nothing strategic.
- One point in Improved Recall. How often has someone walked into a bush when you had just one second left on your recall after a bad fight or a juke? What about that Karthus ult that starts up when you are recalling and you almost made it to the fountain? I'd say the closest thing this has contention to is less time spent dead, as far as allowing you active time in the game, and I think it will be relevant a lot more often than any of the other choices, if only a single point were to be put into them.
