What exactly...
#1
... is the role of the Story Guide? The position has seemed to evolved over time, and I'm curious to know exactly what a Story Guide can or cannot do, or rather what it is or is not supposed to do.

I suppose that depends Broli, I myself have access to update the roster, make quests, grade quests, grade spars and the like. I suppose Rad or Rei would be better suited to answer that question.

Thing is, you do Uub but Tapion is a SG but he can't do that.

Really? Then it's a good question indeed.

Exactly my point, 18. It may not be my place to ask, but I was under the impression that a story guide was exactly that. Or, to be more specific, the SG's role pertained specifically to that of the IC World. So, is it more of a moderator position now, or does it vary from person to person?

Mainly moderate the forums; help out in the Q/S/U, Join, and Staff board; and update if granted the power.

Though I think Rad or Rei could give you a better explanation.

Yeah Rad and Rei would prolly have a better answer. I figured they dealt with spars, and IC stuff, but they're doing a lot of the moderator stuff too. I have no problem with that, but maybe a little explaination of the SG would be good.

A SG is basically a moderator in training.

It's a trial staff. I haven't been able to be on as much so I probably look like a slacker =P

But yeah, SG's are supposed to watch join board, and QSU and give opinions in staff board basically. Or do what higher-ups say.

The original intent of a Story Guide was, as Broli implied, what the name suggests. People who can oversee the IC happenings of the various members and assure the rest of the staff that everything is running as it should be.

Over the course of its, admittedly short, lifespan, the role of a Story Guide has changed. They've become, basically, our little update monkies. When they can not make an update themselves, they report to other staff members who can complete those updates. Their activity, attitude, and overall desire to be useful determines when and if a Story Guide is given further priviledges to aid them in their updating.

So, why the regulation of power between Uub and Tapion. Don't they both hold the same title and should thus have the same power?

Bido, it's usually a combination of both free time and talent. And by talent, I moreso mean maturity. As for the amount at a certain time, that's completely arbitrary. I'm sure staff don't see the need for a 3rd SG, or else they would promote someone to one.

Uub is the third SG since I am one. =/

We are just there for when they need a mod, so if some story guides take up a mod spot, then another would most likely be chosen.

I can't answer for Rad or Rei, but maybe I have more powers to update because I am able to be on most of the time *shrug* I honestly don't think it matters as long as everything run's smoothly.

The whole staff nomination basically goes like this:

[Random staffer]: We should make [random member] a staffer
Rad/Reijin: uh... ok
