Krillin, staff is obviously not all working on these rulings. I direct you to Burter.
Broli, I look in the Development Forum, glance over the many, many topics we have in regards to this idea, and see that nearly every single Staff member from VJ to Akane are working on this. It's very conceptual still. We don't all agree on specific items. It's still being refined.
To put it metaphorically, we have a large lump of impure gold, and we're doing our damndest to refine it. As of right now, it's still just a lump. It would be impossible to say anything more on the issue.

I've said before that nothing is concrete.
And no, you can't. We're not eliminating canons completely. We're bending over backwards to make sure canons are included in this system.

In an effort to defend all points, keep in mind that, as I just posted, everything is still being discussed. The only thing we have finalized is that Canada doesn't count.
I think Canada just got owned =D

I read the list from top to bottom, and it's a great reason for why to allow custom characters. I agree completely.
But it doesn't explain why we're trying to get rid of the canons still. The only reason I can think of is trying to avoid copyright issues, but that's never been a problem before. Has Akira Toriyama opened up a lawsuit with VJ or something?

If you're not trying to get rid of canons, wtf is this post? >_>

If you're not trying to get rid of canons, why bother with the ruling disallowing people to rejoin as their old character if they lose it on a MIA check? I can understand not allowing other people to rejoin as someone else's canon, but that's not the case.

I am probably going to rejoin very soon based on the whole change in my life as of recently. You know most members are going to go for Saiyan, right? I don't know what I'd choose, it'd depend on my mood really.
It's been proven wrong.
He means new joinees. And he's right. But that's beside the point anyway.

eventually. not today, not tomorrow. but SOMEWHERE.
Like it's been said before NOTHING here is for sure yet. We're in the early stages of this and mistakenly came to the members for input in the creative process. Burter is suggesting we get rid of MIA all together and that very well may be what happens.

After some SMALL discussion, we're currently agreeing on (we being about five of us, meaning not a majority) canons being owned by one person and not going MIA. But, canons won't be able to be "joined as" or "switched to." So if you switch away from your canon to a custom, you can't switch back
In other words, Broli and SB would be the last people to ever own those respective characters
This is strictly in terms of the topic at hand, and what we are working on to compromise everyone. This is NOT final

We're discussing this. What Waffuru mentioned is one possibility. Another is that those who now have canons will be allowed to keep them, but only they will be able to use that canon. If they ever switch to a custom, they can never switch back to the canon, nor can someone else switch to that canon.
So essentially, under that system, you will be the last Super Buu ever on the site.
EDIT: Oh, and Burter sucks.

Seriously, guys. Concerns about canons going MIA and stuff are being discussed.
Please, just give it time.
EVERYTHING is in a "well, this is what we've got so far" phase.

I was assuming that was the case until Waffuru came out with the 'new ruling'. But yeah, that's what I was looking for.
And I don't see why bringing this to the members was a mistake, Waff. The way I see it, there were some massive mistakes about to be made, and now they've been ironed out somewhat.

No offense to the wonderful members of Chubbs, but it really wasn't the complaining about conceptual, suggested rulings that changed the way we thought about this. It's been a factor, yes, but it wasn't like:
Staff: What about this?
Members: Oh, dear god, no. That's a bad idea.
Staff: Oh shit, you're right. Our bad, that really was dumb, wasn't it?

There were too many posts too quickly, people said one thing and it quickly turns into something else and everyone hears different things. There's just too many of you guys and too many people who were ruthless and unreasonable. People are/were quiting over this and just going apeshit. Yeah, it's a big change but it's not like I said "tomorrow we're doing this" like we usually do. I'm TRYING to make a change that was requested by you but there's a reason we haven't done it before. It's hard to keep it together.
I think a lot of positive input came/comes from this thread but the headache was twice that.
There have been over 450 posts in less than 24 hours, I can't keep up with that much less correct everything being said and making sure everyone is on the exact same page. Sorry.

There's always gonna be a headache regardless of what you do. I think you made the right choice announcing it now, and I think the shitstorm is worth it to pick out the few good ideas (not saying any of those came from me, necessarily, Retane ).

When everything is discussed and decided upon, will members get another opportunity to voice their opinions, or are the final decisions going to be exactly that - final?

I suspect we will introduce a thread will details and accept input then.
We're less flexible after the coding is done.
I don't know if there will be a thread before that, but possibly.

Within a matter of days, the Shit Pile is going to have nothing on this thread...
I41 love the idea of making Chubbs all custom. I love Koola, and where I was going to go with him, but I could easily change into another character. I was planning on making a character a member of forgotten water users who lost his ability to bend water to his will. Or, I could be a Namekian who is a traveling badass mofo who goes from planet to planet, solving random troubles. Or, I could expland my NPC's sortylines by becoming them. The adventures of Koorsala; the trials of Flemings. I could go on.
There is serveral things you could think up of within the next few months before staff attivates this new ruling. Don't repell the idea, imbrace it.

Eh? I don't get it? What I say? What was I gonna say?
Ohhhhh... you mean from what I said in THAT thread about staff shouldn't do these kind of threads? Oh well YOu;'re arguments been proven and so has everyone that didnt get it. Do you see how many posts were made? Do you know that when I got on like ....say the last page was 3 and I was on it whenI went to respond.... the mother fucker was already on page 4 or 5. It was like that damned there everytime Itried to post.
WIll someone make him staff already so we dont hasve to have another one of these threads for another year?
Surely they could have known that a decent number of people would not be happy and refuse to give up their characters. It's just thatWaff was hard headed wanted it his way and came and posted shit to early to satisfy you peop[le who swear up and down you mmust be involved in everything. Once agian they are staff because they are staff and staff do all the work ... not members =/
