But I have spoken with SEVERAL members who simply will not waste their time RPing if they aren't going to get anything out of it beyond a set bonus of appeasement. This isn't so much a work-around to me getting my stats OMG!!!11!!1 as it is me trying, in yet another way, to ease the blow of everyone getting ganked of their hard work to this point.

@ Krillan... it does NOT defy the purpose of a reset because it is fom this point on with the knowledge that a reset is coming. The rewards (the whole poitn of writing in and RPG format with stats btw) wouldn't be given until after the reset. And if all we're getting is a set bonus for activity... I won't RP. There is no reason to. I'll just write things in word and save them up for after the reset amd I'd advise everyone else who enjoys this site for it's GAMING options do the same.

Think of it this way, if staff could snap their fingers and apply a perfectly ironed out re-set to Chubbs right this second they would. They can't though, it takes time. Well... most members aren't going to set around and play a game that will only give out a set minor bonus for four months of RPing. Instead, look at it as the RP reset happening from here on out, and people just having to wait for the reset to get their rewards.

It's still a reset because everyone will be starting from aquare one. But what I'm suggesting is a way of moving square one up to right now without inhibitng staff's timeframe to get things ironed out. I don't think it's unreasonable.

Ok. Then they won't roleplay. That's their prerogative. And, if we decide to give a bonus, or create some rule that connects keeping a canon with continued activity through the however many months, then they will simply be left out.

The fact that they consider it a "waste of time" is very pitiful, though.

You want it to be done so that people have a reason to roleplay. The Staff's stance has always been that it should be for roleplaying's sake alone that people roleplay. Again, you seem to think we're under some sort of unnamed law to give you guys shit for writing. Not quite, bud.

Then do that. I really don't see what the big deal is. If you want to leave Chubbs for however many months (assuming this is how we're going to be doing it), then make sure you shut the door behind you.

Yes yes, I know you guys dont have anything finalized yet and everything is still being developed. I got it, but when staff shows up here to straight out shoot down a perfectly valid compromise... you're gunna get people fired up. Not just me, super buu. brli, burter, or whoeever. Deep breaths people and think rationally. Remove yourself of bias and do what you say you're trying to do: what's best for the board. RPing for 4 months without reward is not good for the board, regardless of how many people are ok with it.

Your first sentence contradicts the way you've been arguing. As you told me in AIM too, it's like all that matters to you is points and power. Reset is a reset, if anyone gets anything it'll likely be the same for everyone else.

And stop being an ass about it, I know I'm trying to be civil and treat everyone with respect on the matter. We aren't trying to pretend anything here, or act like we're smart in fooling anyone.

You were a cool guy when I met you, and it hurts to say this, but even if you leave it won't change anything. The fact that you think it'll be a waste to RP proves that you think writing only ever gives rewards. We never did reward normal RPs, why start now? Only once the new system is put in will we start that, because as it is you're still getting your regular TP.

From what I am seeing the only proposition that you'll like (and therefore, "SEVERAL MEMBERS") is this one:

You keep your characters.
After the PCIII rewards are given, you may convert to a custom character if you wish at the normal stat penalty for switching characters.
New joinees will only be able to join as Customs from here out.
The minimum stats be raised again to get people once again to a certain point below the high level members, perhaps raising them to 600 each (for sake of a number)

Everything is solved. Everone is happy. Stat system stays the same because its perfectly balanced and in the six months you've been here has proven to work.

"a reset is a reset"... ok so re-read what I have written. Applying what I suggested above would be like saying "ok we've reset, but it will be a few months before you get any kind of reward." I feel like I'm beating my head up against a wall because staff talks about this stuff in a place where none of us can contribute then comes to this thread and shoots down ideas because they have a different, understandably, mind set.

You're acting like im asking for people to get bonuses or boosts... or whatever. What I'm saying is, you guys will come up with a system later for updating finished threads. From what i understand, it involves PL. You'd take the threads done from today until the reset, save them in another board, then update them with the new system. Yes, it's a reset, but it's a reset effective immediately that allows staff the chance to keep working and the members a reason to keep writing.

If I wanted to just write to write, i would do something for school. I come here to play a game, as do many others. Don't expect everyone to be thrileld with the prospet of writing for no reward in what is supposed to be a game. I wouldn't expect you to play WoW for 4 months if you knew you couldnt advance your character in any way... how is this any different?

No Rei, i understand the need for a reset. What I'm pushing for at this second is the time from now till then. If I was unclear I apologize.

EDIT: I'm trying to compromise and work with the information I'm being given and the arguments with which I'm presented. If I lose cool points for this, and people dont like me... fuck it. I honestly feel like im doing some good right now, whether staff sees it that way or not. it's like the public and their senator. It is our job to push and question our staff if we do not fully agree. If I were being illogical or unreasonable, I would hit myself with a mace... but look through my posts... I've really tried hard to understand everything, help others understand, and work with you guys to make this thing right. It's the member's site just as much as it is the staff member's.

Depending on your roleplaying activity from this point on, you will be given rewards on your new character by applying the reward system that we'll apply then to anything that happens from now till then as well, meaning that all roleplaying now will be just as effective as it will after.

You have been here a few months, you can rebuild your character. I bet staff will allow you to keep your history, just reset stats and ish.

Unless im overlooking something (and i very well might be) i think that covers all the bases.
