The thing with MMO plots is that you have to have a willing suspension of disbelief.

Ie, sure you've seen everyone else kill Fizzle Darkstorm in WoW, but ZOMG we have to put a stop to his threat before he destroys the Barrens!

So I doubt it'll matter that much. For DW, they'll probably just set it in a certain year and have the quests run alongside key events in that time, or leave it vague.

Watched the first movie, and a little into the second, and I can already say two things:

1) Fans still suck.

2) Same old game, just online.

Describing the sheer level of disappointment at realizing number 2 is not something that can be expressed in words. Rather, is must be what God felt of Adam and Eve. So much potential, and all squandered!

Enemies still standing around going "BUUUUH?" while you cut them to ribbons? Missions look like they're even shorter than they were before? You can still 'skip' (run past) goddamn near everything you don't want to fight? And even when you DO fight, it's 2-charge or 3-charge you enemy into dirt?

No thanks. I've got Dynasty Warriors 3, 4, 5, Empires, and a few expansions which do all of the above. All of them have promised "new" shit, but what they really mean is that "o look! Taunt does something now!".

The only thing those games don't provide is online multiplayer community... Which I guess is a positive thing this title has going for it - with the lack of depth inherent in DW, a community is pretty much a necessity. Dynasty Warriors has always been infinitely more fun playing with a friend than alone... But here's the thing. Can you see yourself playing the same old Dynasty Warriors for more than a straight month, even if it DOES offer a community?

I can't see myself doing it. TBH.

As for best character... Come on.

I don't know why everyone gets so pissy at Dynasty Warriors. Yeah, its basically the same thing. Did that stop you from buying it? Playing it? Renting it? Shit, the series makes money with every single title it launches in the DW series. What do you expect them to do?

I wish that they would put in a game mode where you and a friend could be the commanders of opposing armies and fight each other. To my knowledge, they haven't put in something like that into the game. If they did that, I may just wet myself.

Actually yes, it's stopped me from buying any more of their games. 3-4 I bought because I enjoyed slaughtering so many troops, 5 I bought with the hope that there would be some sort of change to the formula - perhaps toning down the number of enemies and making what remained much more threatening and aggressive - and Empires I bought pretty much for its Create-A-General alone. After all that, I was really hoping for something different with the chance to play with more than just 2 people, but... Oh well.

Never said DW was a bad series. Hell, I play it. I am just saying that it's kind of sad when I can pick up DW 3 and have almost the same exact game as DW 5. That went for GTA too, until they made GTA:SA, which was a stroke of genius.

I wasn't talking to anyone specifically. A lot of people get made at KOEI because they remake the same game over and over again. Its a sentiment I simply can't understand. You don't like the game, don't buy it. If you know that most of the storyline is Guan Yu walking around stomping ass then you really shouldn't be expecting anything more. If you have enough kill-a-million-people-in-three-swings then you shouldn't bother. It just amazes me that people get all indignant about it when it doesn't matter. The games have always been pretty much the same and they'll probably always be pretty much the same.
