Last year, Burter made it into this Battle Royale format, and he did say that it is based on the book.

The weapons are new that's for sure, and the island map is from BR I think. But the being dumped on a planet, exploding collars, kill everyone and win is something was started by Jeff an old staff member back in the 2000~2001 era.

Although it's more of a straight competition now, as the old D.A. tended to be plot driven and no one actually won it as it turned out there was a plot that would occur during the course of the game.

Oh yes, there were also bunkers/shelters that you had to go to ever 24~48 hours or your collar would explode; those are gone too.

Yes, my version was inspired by Battle Royale. The original concept pre-dates it, though.

And no, I doubt we'll go back to the old version anytime soon, but I wouldn't throw the idea away entirely. I personally don't like the old format as it was TOO free-form (people could just run away from every little encounter and never actually do anything), but some people liked it so it's not out of the question for the far-off future

Are you planned to run DA next year?

Yes, that's the plan as of right now. Obviously, I can't 100% guarantee that all the cards will lay out that way in 365 days

The thing I like about Burters way of doing D.A. is that it's an actual competition, the old D.A. started out as a competition but would always escalate into a full blown saga. You'd have a main baddie and people would join up.

Even if the staff decide to take DA back and do it the old way, I still will fight to host this game (even if I use a new name) as long as people still want to play.

This DA felt like Risk mixed with Battleship.

I never really liked playing either of those games XP But everyone was like 'omg, DA is epic. Join! Join!'

If there were two versions, I wouldn't mind. Everyone would get their piece of pie.

No offense Kol, but you're in the vast minority. I respect that you arn't a fan of the game but, well, sorry. I can't help that. I don't expect it to change anytime soon as long as people keep asking for it

I didn't ask you to, and I didn't expect you to. And I've been talking to a few people, minority isn't as minor as you might think. =P

People might keep asking for it, but it doesn't mean they wouldn't like the old way as well if both were possible, does it now?

I'd actually like to bring back a tournament run in the same style as the old DA. Most likely, we'd give it a new name and keep DA the way its been this year and last. I know there are a number of people who would prefer to write their own fights and I think there is a lot to be offered from the old DA style of tournament.

I have to point out one thing. The original DA format was true death. One survivor was the intention. If you were killed, that's it, you were fucking dead. Going to the Afterlife Dead. Not "Oh, you wake up on your planet". It was actually a competition that would force Trunks and Bra to fight to the death even if they loved each other. Or everyone died. Kek.

I would def. help if people wanted to run an old DA style tournament. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I agree some things would have to change.

I obviously have no problem with the old DA coming back if capable staff members can help and members want it. But like Rad said, either my saga or the old saga would have to change it's name so it wasn't confused
