Switching between weapons and styles in the middle of combos was a whole lot of fun. Ok... it was frustrating as hell, but so damned worth it when you pulled it off. I thought it was a little lame to make you fight the bosses for a third time, but it was still pretty sweet to hit the DT-throw on the earlier bosses. There are some badass animations. And the fact that there were very few time-sinks also made the game appealing to me. You can sit down for an hour, be a badass for a couple stages, and then go on about your day. Oh, and I have the PS3 version, so I don't have to bother myself with achievements. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."

Just finished it acouple of hours ago. I really think the second half of the game was poor, it's like they had originally intended to end the game at chapter 11, but at the last minute decided to add Dante and just chop up a few extra bits, have you refight some bosses to stretch it out to chapter 20. I'll probable play through again on devil hunter, and then sometime in the future I'll have a go at the level above that, but I doubt I'll be playing Dante must die or trying to get S grades on all the levels. I'm all for challenging myself and attempting to get the max amount of gamer score from a game you can, but Devil may cry is just one of those, throw your controller at the screen, type games. Add to that the fact that you need to replay the same locations over and over, and I'd rather just enjoy the game for what it is and forget about the achievements.

That's definitely a case where achievements aren't so great.
The only time I was really frustrated with the game was when I entered an extra mission I couldn't do. Seriously... if Nero can't do the Royal Block, he shouldn't be able to enter a mission that requires it. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. I wasn't really ever frustrated, but then I was only playing on human mode. But I know what you mean about the secret missions. Once I died on the mission where you have to build up your style points without hitting the enemy (wtf?) and found out I had to restart the real mission all over, I decided to just avoid the secret missions completely.

The only item I used in the entire length of the game (also on Human mode, though) was one yellow orb because I entered a secret mission I knew I shouldn't have.
I know that dying in a secret mission has always acted like you died in a normal mission, but I still think its dumb. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."

So I was playing Rainbow Six 2 and I overheard these two guys talking about Grand Theft Auto. They said there was going to be up to 16 players online multiplayer. What the hell. This is so retarded. How am I supposed to afford all these great freaking games that are coming out. I wasn't really bothered about this game until I heard about this. But now I'm thinking about roaming round the city with 16 other people, running people over, drive by shootings, beating the shit out of random people with baseball bats, how can I not get it!?

Oh, man. I care so little about online play it makes me laugh. Well, okay, it's not that bad, but I'm tired and I took a really bad hit to the head so leave me alone.

Bra Wrote:Oh, man. I care so little about online play it makes me laugh. Same here. For console games, mostly, I find online playing to be annoying and full of idiots. Computer games suffer from the same thing, just to a lesser degree, in my opinion. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."
Back in the day, I played a mod that made Vice City go online, and I remember it was really good pointless fun. Just pulling off stupid stunts over and over, running over your friends and landing on people with helicopters. The best was when you managed to pile 5 or 6 people into a vehicle, and then you (accidentally or not) crashed. It was a griefer's paradise.
If GTA 4 online is anything like that, I'll probably get it. I remember that once the mod got more advanced and they changed the 'sandbox' style in favour of a 'real' sort of team-based game, it became a lot less fun. So I'm hoping they just leave objectives out and let you do whatever the hell you want; whether it be senseless massacring, forming gangs to senselessly massacre people, or driving around crashing into things like a drunken retard. ![]() Bra Wrote:People are dumb, essentially.

There should at very least be a sandbox server.

From what it sounds like, the game is a LOT more story driven, with the little rampages being less favorable in game play.

That doesn't mean the multiplayer can't be chaotic. Missions in multiplayer would just be lame.

I doubt it, Akane. GTA was built on the fundemental idea that you can at almost any point ignore the storyline for a month if you feel like it and go around making shit up. I once went on a rampage through Area 69 in a golf kart, before driving it up to a tank, climbing on top of it, and opening fire on the encroaching soldiers with the anti-tank gun thing for a while, before stealing the tank and driving it (and whatever vehicles I needed to commandeer on the way) all the way back to CJ's house in downtown Los Santos, just because I could.
If they took the random idiocy like that out, I think the game would lose a ton of it's appeal. ![]()

It would lose all of it's appeal, actually. Once you think about it, the other elements of the gameplay are pretty mediocre.

Read the interviews from the creators of the game. It's a lot more story driven. Also, in this game, you can't take fifty shots from a machine gun and live. It's more realistic.

I want to take fifty shots from a machine gun and live. I want to randomly drive on the sidewalks. I want to get a prostitute in my car and drive off a cliff and into a large body of water. If they're taking that away from me, then they're idiots. All of them.

I don't exactly remember being able to take 50 shots from a machine gun in the first place. Once those FBI guys showed up in the all black SUVs, it was always a wrap.
