This is going to kick ass and the good thing is the director has stated it's for movie goers. Not for Fans. I must admit, that was a smart move considering how the Dragonball Movie tanked.

There's no telling who exactly the dragonball movie was for. Wasn't for fans or movie goers. I suspect the 100 million that went into the picture went elsewhere and they used maybe 3 million to make the movie. Someone pocketed that money...they did.
As far as this movie goes I am really really surprised I've heard nothing from Trekkies going 'OMG THEY'RE RUINING IT!' or something. I'm not a Star Trek fan at all, I will likely rent this though and not watch it online. It seems like one of those movies where you'll rather watch it at home on your big screen telvision with a bowl of popcorn and bottle of soda.

I want my sternum to rumble when I watch this. Theatre FTW.

I don't know...maybe the theaters I've been to are pretty crappy but I'm sick of seeing the little crackly spots and shit on the screen. I would rather be patient and wait if it's a neat movie like this seems to be.
But if it's something awesome I want to see like Harry Potter, Transformers or something I'll go to the theaters.

I'll be honest. I'm not a Trekkie, although I do greatly enjoy the show whenever it happens to be on, regardless of episode (and someone series). I haven't seen any of the previous movies. I know this is a "reboot".
This movie looks fucking amazing, and I'm going to definitely see it. From what I DO know of the characters, it seems to be very well done of an adaptation. I'm hyped about it, and not just over the "Syler = Spock" thing. That opening scene with him doing the XTREME stuff and then later going to the Enterprise as it was being built, it was visually extravagant and still true to the point (of what I know of the characters).
If ANYONE is going to whine about someone "ruining their favorite ____", it would be Trekkies, as they still fight and debate to rationalize every single loophole and physics impossibility that exists in every one of the old series, similar to a comic fan that refuses to realize why they wrote half the shit off as "alternate universes/ages". So to me, the absolute silence coming from them speaks louder than words about it.

I'm stoked, of course I never really enjoyed the original Star Trek (I watched it a bit when I was younger because Krik was pretty hot then). I ended up loving all the other Star Treks though, but not to the point of obession.
I will definetly be seeing this in the theater.
DA08 Winner. "Screw them, this was her show now."

TOS was retarded. That people try to defend it still is hilarious.

I have no idea what TOS is.
EDIT: The Original Series?

Yeah. And I'm not even making fun of the acting or the plot (well, okay, I am, but I should try to focus here).
But the logic that went into it. They met Roman Gods, for fuck's sake.
You can't justify that! It was just magic with a different name.

I am what some may consider a Trekkie. I am really looking forward to this movie, mostly because it looks freaking awesome.

Liked Voyager and Next Generation. I suppose Enterprise and the original were ok. Definatley going to see this movie. Just based on the previews it looks like its in a whole other league.

From what I've heard, they showed a surprise screening to a bunch of trekkies, and they ate it up.

TOS is not meant to be taken seriously. My favorite episode is when the met space Lincoln and did battle with Genghis Khan.
When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

Space Lincoln was badass.
But at least the later series tried to use the concept of the holodeck as an excuse for their really ridiculous episodes.
