Haven't been here in years, and from what I have been reading around, it seems that I need an alternative character. Although, as this current character was barely used, A permanent switch would be perfect. Alas, my join date was 2/09, anywho. Here is what I would like.
Name: Rose Brykein
Age: 23
Race: Human (generic*)
Sex: Female
Starting Planet: Earth
Profession: Unemployed
Fighting Style: Reserved
Short Bio: Raised by her father, Rose grew up without a mother. Having died when she was only three, nannies and house staff filled in where applicable, but they weren't the same. Leading a happy, yet restrained life, Rose's world came to a grinding halt at the age of 14, when her father was murdered.
A highly regarded scientist, Dr. Brykein had gained quite the influence in all matters of technology, and politics. Undoubtedly bringing about his untimely death. With no family, and no money, Rose had been removed from the estate, along with the hired help.
With nowhere to go, Miss Brykein resided to the streets, along with the criminals. Forced to fight off all kinds of cretins, Rose grew up hardened, and distrusting. But she has never given up on finding her father's killer, which is what still drives her to this day.
General Description: 5'7" 120 lbs. long red hair and pale skin.
Starting Abilities: Psychokinesis & Martial Arts Specialization
Trait: Tenacious
Stats:
Strength - 27%
Focus - 26%
Endurance - 22%
Agility - 25%

You aren't required to have an alternate character :P
Just for clarification purposes before I set this into motion you want that main account switched to Rose?

Oh yeah, I get the "not required" part. I never will role-play as Willow again, and I was reading that you can't switch, but have an alternative character. That is what I was meaning, I think, lol.
And yes, Main Account will now be Rose Brykein, thanks.

Done. You're good to go. I apologize for the delay. I was positive I had gotten to this, but alas I'm a moron.
If you need anything else let me know.

RULES, section 3 Wrote:Naming
This is pretty simple. You cannot name a custom character after a canon character. For example, no custom can run around with the name “Vegeta” or “Goku” or anything like that. Not even a derivative like “Trunks Jr.” or “Vegeta the IV.” Secondly, lay off the names of famous characters from anime, video games, and the like. A character cannot run around with the name “Sephiroth” or something like that. Thirdly, no duplicate names. For instance, if there is already a character named “Kane,” you can’t join as a character named “Kane” even if you use an alternate spelling. Fourthly and lastly, keep it appropriate.
We already have a character named Rose.

Seeing the Loophole.
There is a character named "Rose", and my name is "Rose Brykein", technically, it is not the same name, but if I must, I can change it.
But, looking at the alternate spelling, in my opinion, "Kane" and "Cain" are two completely different names/characters, no matter the similar pronunciation. Whereas, "Rose" and "Rose Brykein" could be mistaken for each other easier-ly. Anywho, yeah. Should I change the name???

As far as I can tell from the spirit of the rules, it doesn't matter what the first, middle, or last name of the character is. What matters is what that character is primarily known as, in a single word. If, for example, your character's name was Rose Brykein, but the character went by Razzy, and that was your screen name, and that's the main thing you called your chara in roleplays, that wouldn't be a problem.
But yes. There are inconsistencies in the member base from earlier, where members were accepted in spite of this rule. I'll leave it up to another Staffer (SM or higher) to decide.

He's pretty much right. Yes, your character is called Rose Brykein (in full), and the other is Rose Buuzamaki (or whatever the hell that last name was), but they are both referred to in roleplays as "Rose", which is where the confusion lies. Essentially, we are looking at the written identity of the character and trying to avoid confusion, so regardless of different last names, we'd have two characters running through an event named "Rose", which could create problems (this is, of course, in the unlikely chance that the two of you are active in the same event).
If your character was named something like 'Rose Brykein' and went by "Bree" to her friends, which was how the character was identified in roleplaying ("Bree leaped over her opponent, throwing a quick insult in his direction") then there'd be no confusion.

Rose doesn't RP, how does it actually matter? and this character has a last name to differentiate OOC.

We've explained above why the last name doesn't matter.
We're discussing the significance of inactivity for the retention of a name elsewhere.

He pretty much discussed the significance of the last name in IC terms. I'm saying that because Rose Buuzamaki never RPs, that's not really a problem. He never brought up OOC terms, which is where I used last names to differentiate. Essentially, for what Ashe brought up, confusion in IC roleplaying and events, both of them having Rose is insignificant since one never RPs. And on top of that I added that they can be differentiated OOC-wise by this Rose's last name in her username. So the last-name explanation that was used above is kind of irrelevant to what I said. The second part, which you are apparently discussing now, is the only bit that has bearing on what I said.

Rose isn't currently RP-ing, but may later.
The rule is in place so that we don't have two people running around with much the same name. If we allow a Rose, and the old Rose suddenly decides to start rp-ing again, we suddenly have the situation we're trying to avoid.

Actually, the part that's irrelevant is the fact that Rose is inactive. We currently do not have a rule that says that Rose must keep active in order to keep his character. Telling someone "this other guy is fairly inactive right now, though they might want to roleplay again, but that's their fault, so you can have the name" is not the route we wish to take. We also don't want someone to take time away and then get told "You have to make a new character, because you aren't allowed to use your name anymore" when that's a large part of why we are using a custom system instead of canons ("You have lost your character - yes, I know you built it from the ground up, but we gave it away" being the same as "You can't play that character because of its name/You have to change your character's name, hope that doesn't fuck your story up").
Unless our policy changes, we aren't going to take someone's character away if someone else signs up wanting to use a specific name. There are thousands upon thousands of names someone can use for a character, so there's no point in us ruling as if there's a strict limitation to someone's new character creativity by denying them certain names.
The person who has the name first retains priority over that name until they decide to completely relinquish their character entirely.
