Kill Town

TYNTK #1: The Game (You just lost, by the way)

1.) The game is modeled after Mario Party, and will generally follow those guidelines. In other words, players will be roaming Kill Town in between rounds, free to do whatever their little hearts desire. Then, once the next round starts, a device that the players wear at their hip (kind of like a pager) will go off, and an automated voice will tell them that the next round it about to start. A portal opens, leading them to the location of their event. The entire place—Kill Town and all—is simulated within a giant machine, so literally anything is possible.

2.) To win, players need to collect “badges.” These are small, round buttons that are worn on clothing. There are three ways to get badges: buy one at the shop, steal one using a “covet” item, or get one in a mystery capsule.

3.) During each round, each player will be graded by yours truly based off of their performance, and will be ranked from first to last. The ranking will determine the amount of “monies” that is gained: first place will receive 40 monies, second will receive 30, third will receive 20, and fourth will receive 10.

4.) There will be 5 rounds, including the finale. Each event comes with a one post minimum, a three post maximum (competitive events only), and a four day deadline. The time given in between rounds will generally be three days.

TYNTK #2: Kill Town

1.) Kill Town, as you can see above, is a gigantic carnival that is split up into several parts: the rides (roller coasters, Ferris Wheels, etc), the concession area, the water park, the hotel, the games area (knocking over a stack of bottles with a baseball, throwing a ping pong ball into a fish bowl, stereotypical carnival stuff), an arcade, and the shops. Each booth has its own robotic attendant, and everything will be in working order.

2.) Kill Town can be as big or as little as you want—I’ve just given you guidelines as to where all the stuff should be. Naturally, it would be prudent to read the work of other people to get some sort of sense of consistency with the things that you roleplay being there, but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem. You’ll be killing time here a lot, so make the most of it.

3.) Players will be wandering around Kill Town in between events. This is mostly just for story purposes, as it’s possible that not every character will be matched together during an event. Characters could ride rides, sleep in the hotel, eat in the concession area…whatever you want to happen can happen, unless it’s to escape or kill players or important NPCs. In addition to action during downtime, there is one other major purpose that Kill Town serves: buying items (a list of said items will be given, along with costs).

TYNTK # 3: Prison

1.) Eliminated players go to the prison, which is pretty much a society built in a desert. Imagine the Corel Desert Prison if you’ve played Final Fantasy VII. If you haven’t…well…imagine a village made purely out of junk parts in the middle of a desert. The only exception to this desert-like setting is Yuffith’s home, which is in an area of the prison that’s filled with lush plants and wildlife.

2.) I know some people are bawing over the competition aspect, but that’s only part of it. Players who get sent here are thrown into another storyline, which ties into the game itself. I won’t reveal too much, but once you lose the game, don’t think that you’re out.

3.) Prisoners, as I will affectionately call them, may be called to participate in an event. They will either be pitted against other prisoners in a loser's bracket event, or in the event of inactivity, slotted into a "main event" with players still in the game. They will not earn the typical monies prize, however.

TYNTK #4: Items

1.) The IC place where items can be bought is the shops, which you should be able to spot on the map. You don’t need to actually roleplay your character buying all this stuff; just write up a transaction like you would do for a normal item outside of the saga and post it in the shopping thread. Assuming you have enough money for such things, your item will be added to your saga profile and you’ll be able to reap the benefits for the next round.

2.) There is a variety of items that are available for you to get, though some are rarer or more expensive than others. The most common items available are “thefts,” which steal a randomized amount of monies from an opposing player (normally ranging from 1-20 monies, though rare thefts can steal all the monies). An advanced form of a theft is a “covet,” which steals one badge.

3.) A mystery capsule will be available for purchase, and the outcome can be anything from a new ability (for one round only) to a badge to a gag item or even one that takes away monies or badges. It’s a “buyer beware” kind of thing.

TYKTK #5: Grammar, Entertainment, and Adaptability

1.) I am, in a phrase, a grammar Nazi. This doesn’t mean that I utilize perfect grammar, because I make plenty of slip ups in almost every post. Knowing this, I can’t exactly expect perfect grammar from any of you. It does, however, detract from the value of the post if there are a lot of blaring grammatical errors. It’s a personal preference, and you might think that it’s lame, but that’s how it is. If you don’t watch your mechanics, sentence structure, spelling, sentence flow, etc, my overall grade for your work will probably suffer.

2.) These posts are meant to be entertaining. This can come in several fashions, as I’m sure you know by now. Make your post funny, dramatic, or a little bit of both—it doesn’t matter to me as long as you keep me engaged for all or most of your post. I’m not the most careful reader when it comes to reading outside of my saga-running capacities, and although I’ll try to read every single word that you write, a boring post might make me start skimming. And that’s bad. Keeping that in mind, try to mix things up a bit. Try to make every post have a point. Filler is good, but an entire post of filler makes me want to punch a dolphin in the face.

3.) Adaptability is the key to success in this saga. Some of these events will be silly, as the main antagonist of this saga is in essence a silly person. Your character will be asked to do something that may seem out of character, and there’s really no way to avoid it without dying. Part of my task in this saga is to test your ability to look at an event from all angles. As an example, if I ask you to write your character cooking, for instance, and your character is the most evil badass in the universe, I still expect that character to cook something, or at least make an attempt to. It doesn’t have to come out perfect if your character doesn’t know how to cook. Make it taste like shit. Have the kitchen catch on fire. Use your imagination.
TYNTK #6: Miscellaneous

1.) I’d like you to have an updated bio. I don’t need a comprehensive history, but I’d like a personality and appearance section so I can adequately roleplay your character. You can say you won’t complain if I butcher your character, but that’s probably not true. Please get it done. =)

2.) On the subject of me roleplaying your characters, I probably won’t be able to include every single character in every single post. It won’t be anything personal, I assure you—it’s just how these things go. I’ll make an attempt to include every character at some point, but if your character isn’t included in a post, please don’t fret. It’s hard enough to write these things as it is.

3.) This shouldn’t be a problem here, but I swear to God, if any of you wants to switch your character in the middle of this saga, I’ll kill your character off. It’s rude to me, and there’s just really no reason for you to be doing it. If you’re in doubt of your character before the saga starts, be sure to get that straightened out then, and not during round two.

4.) I would prefer it if I didn’t have to make extensions on rounds, but I understand that things happen. If you would like special consideration for extenuating circumstances (and “writer’s block” and/or “lack of motivation” are not among those kinds of circumstances), just PM me and we’ll go from there.

5.) This only applies to you, Orion, so feel special. Dead people can play. Just do what you did for DA, more or less, only this time you’ll be stolen. You’ll know more once I put sign-ups…up.

6.) Don’t be depressed if you get eliminated. The prison people are just as important as the game people. In that same vein, don’t throw the game if you want to be in the prison group. The competition is still fun for me to watch.

7.) Placement in the game is purely for bragging rights. The winner might not necessarily get the highest rewards. I’m handing out said rewards like I would in a storyline saga, because again, that’s what this is.
