The Omniverse - opening 28/8/13

So I got permission from Kaden to post this. I've been working on an RPG for a while. Since I stopped work on Another Destiny, basically, and in a lot of ways it's a successor to that.

It's a crossover RPG that I built from the ground up around the idea. Rather than be set in space, it's set in a world where everyone is brought from their own universe, and landed in this weird-ass setting where you can essentially create anything, even worlds, with stuff called 'omnilium'. The Omniverse is basically a place made up of several 'verses' that are connected by gateways, some public and some hidden. There's an ocean verse, a high-tech metropolis verse, a forest/jungle verse, and so on. Right now the story is set eight years after the creation of the Omniverse, and there are already many established NPCs, factions and a history.

RPG and stat-wise, it builds a lot on what I did before on AD. Like AD, you can be a canon or custom, you can buy any power, and having a significant statistical advantage is something that takes a long time to earn. There is a damage/injuries system and you can use 'Super Moves' at the end of a fight post to try and inflict injuries on your opponent. People can block these, try to counter them, etc. Aside from super moves and transformations, which cost SP to use, using your moves is freeform just like Chubbs. Judgement is a combination of injuries and writing. Check out the rules if you want to know more.

The starting story will kick off one week from today, on the 28th. Until then, joining is open, so you can create your character and familiarise yourself with the rules, or chat. Right now it's just me, Anzekay, Captain Blue and Violet over there, so come over and keep us company ;D

Since I'm using this venue again...

So I've recently decided to expand my résumé! For a while I've been doing minor free lance things here and there having to do with graphic design, company branding, etc. and recently it's been a bit, well... slow. I've been preparing to set aside some time for some proper college courses regarding the matter of learning website designing but I'd also thought I'd bring myself up here and see any there was anyone with any experience (or knows of anyone) who could possibly link me up with some helpful pages for getting my feet wet.

So initially I thought it was my... Graphics card... and with the side open ... a heat sync screwed down... and a fan onit... I left today and the computer died.

The monitor recognized connection... but something in the computer didnt work...

Unplugged and replugged it all.... Computers Fan just kept blowing...

Going with my sister to get a new one tomorrow...

But there are still things on my old Hard Drive I want...

Are most computers still plug and play? Can plug the Hard Drive into another computer... and get the files?

Here's my question: Can you think of any work of dystopian fiction that is set on a planet other than Earth? And not a sci-fi, we're on Mars, but we're originally from Earth. Just purely set in a different universe.

I've been thinking on this for weeks, and I can't come up with any examples that are divorced from Earth. I'm wondering now if the nature of a dystopian work is rooted in our inhabiting the same space. Like, in Hunger Games, we know District 12 is in the Appalachians, and comparing its current condition to how it's portrayed in the book stirs a reaction in us. Is that the backbone of the genre?

I just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way about this. Also, maybe to make this fun, people could also include what it is they wished would happen or was possible.

I wish that it was possible to format forum posts like novels. I've always tried very hard to self-edit and proof all my stuff, it became a big thing for me. I saw it as my posts being something people read like they would a book so why not make it at least legible?

I've tried for years to figure out a way to make forum posts look formatted like a word document (indented paragraphs, more specifically). I think the only way to do it is by using a spacer gif/png to add the space at the beginning of each paragraph.

Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest .
