Buffs and Debuffs

For those who don’t know, a “Buff” is something that benefits a character while a “Debuff” is something that hinders them

Certain actions your character takes can have ramifications for them down the road. This comes in the form of Buffs or Debuffs. These can be awarded for almost anything, though that doesn’t mean we’ll be handing them out like candy. A common use of Buffs and Debuffs will be to affect players as they participate in sagas, given them rewards for a job well done or penalties for trying something too risky. Buffs and Debuffs can also be awarded for Quests or Jobs in addition to XP or Zeni.

There are no specific guidelines for Buffs and Debuffs. They can take almost any form and having varying degrees of severity. Some of them might affect your Combat Ability, making you weaker or strong. Some of them might give you a discount on your next shop purchase. Some of them may even remove your access to one of your character’s Abilities. Most Buffs and Debuffs last for a set period of time, but may also expire after a given event, such as traveling to a different planet or completing your next Quest.

Death

When a player dies, their spirit is disrupted and, as a result, they lose access to a great deal of their power. Death comes in the form of a Debuff that reduces their Combat Ability by 50% while they are in the living world. While a player has the “Death” Debuff, they can travel freely between the Afterlife and the living world once they complete a certain Quest, though in the Afterlife they will have full access to their Combat Ability.

In addition to the Penance Quest there is another special Quest that may be requested by someone who is dead. That is the Transference Quest. A Transference Quest is requested the same way a Penance Quest is and functions almost exactly the same way. Once the Transference Quest is complete, the player can freely move their character from the Afterlife to the Living World. While in the Living World, things function normally. It is not necessary to complete a Transference Quest in order to get or complete a Penance Quest. Zeni can only be spent by a dead person who has completed their Transference Quest.

While in the living world, the only distinguishable difference between someone who is dead is a halo that floats above their head. Otherwise they can walk around and interact with the rest of the world as though they were alive. While Dead, though, there are limitations placed upon the character. While a player may write personal or group RolePlays, they may not participate in Sagas, Jobs, or standard Quests while Dead.

There are a couple of ways to remove the Death Debuff and restore life to your character. The simplest way is to visit Baba, on Earth, and pay her a fee to fully restore your soul and have Death removed. Aside from that, a player can ask for a special Penance Quest on the Quest Forum. The Penance Quest will be designed for that character, specifically, and upon completion will remove the Debuff. Once a Penance Quest is given, the player can not request a different one. As stated above, a player may not undertake any normal Quests until the Penance Quest is complete and Death has been removed.

Behavior

No flaming or flame-baiting. Flaming essentially boils down to insulting somebody or making a personal attack against them. Whether you do this intelligently or straight up call them names or swear at them, flaming is flaming, and it’s an offense that will get you an Infraction real quick. Flame-baiting is equally guilty. Baiting someone is deliberately and purposefully provoking them into attacking you to and then turning around and crying foul.

No trolling. Trolling is somewhat different than flaming, although they can be very similar. Trolling is done with the intent of causing an argument or derailing a thread through the use of juvenilia, sarcasm, deliberately bad jokes, or other such method. They argue by insulting either a person or the subject without fully addressing the content of the thread and add no value or merit to a discussion. They can also purposefully go off topic or constantly threadjack.

Be respectful. We don’t expect everybody to be best friends, but we do expect that people act civilly towards each and every member, including staff. This means no insults, slurs, flames, pointless arguing, or any other bull like that. If you cannot get along with somebody, simply ignore or block them. It’s not that difficult. Even better: try to talk it out like adults and come to a mutual understanding or agreement. This goes double for people who decide to gang up on a single member and just keep picking on them.

Keep the profanity reasonable. We’re all capable of controlling our language. Most everybody swears once in a while, but it’s not necessary for every other word to be a cuss. Excessive use of profanity or tasteless language is subject to disciplinary action.

Staff

This is an excerpt from the joining page, and is the preface to the procedure for becoming a member. All future and current members are required to be aware of this policy:

Quote:By registering an account with our boards, joining, and/or becoming a member, you are agreeing to abide by any and all rules and regulations we the staff have set down on both the website and the forums, based on our interpretation only. They are not subject to negotiation. You also agree to accept any disciplinary action that may result in violation of these rules. All members and registered accounts are expected to read these rules and be aware of their existence prior to any infraction. Ignorance will never be an acceptable excuse: it isn’t bliss, it’s stupid.

We reserve the right to change any and all rules at any point and time under our discretion. We the staff will make every attempt to make these rules as thorough as possible, we will make every effort to provide you with the information that you as a member or registered account need to know. Some information is classified as staff-only and will remain as such.

The staff here at Chubbs will never abuse our power, but we are required to use it. We assure you that there is reasoning behind all of our actions, even if it goes misunderstood.

If you have questions, please ask them in the Questions and Suggestions forum.

Read the rules. Follow the rules. It’s that simple.

Staff ruling is final. Staff decisions are considered final. You don’t have to like it, but you do have to listen to and abide by it. Do not attempt to “petition” a ruling, and do not constantly ask over and over again if you’ve already been told the answer. Basically, what staff says, goes. Staff authority goes as follows, starting from the highest: administrator, super moderator, moderator.

No backseat modding. Backseat modding is when a regular member acts as an authority figure towards another member, or tries to tell staff how to do their jobs. We’re familiar with the rules, we know how to handle situations, and we’ll take care of the official stuff. Telling us what we need to be doing or how we need to do it is presumptuous and rude. If there is a problem, we’ll take care of it. If a staff member mishandles something, we’ll correct it. Your job is to role-play and have fun. So, you do your jobs, and we’ll do ours.

Be respectful of staff. We’re not the most popular people sometimes, but we are necessary to the function and continuation of this RPG. We are offering our free time to provide the best possible experience for everybody and to keep things running as smoothly as we can. We are human, and we do have lives outside of this. So we expect to be treated with civility at the very least, and that you understand we can’t dedicate every minute of our day to this site. If you have a problem with a particular staff member, please privately talk it out with that staff member in a polite and adult manner, or bring the issue up with an administrator. Bottom line: treat us with respect, and we will give you the same courtesy.
Staff also reserves the right to remove graphics at any time, without warning, if deemed as inappropriate.

WELCOME!

We’d like to start off by saying welcome to the Chubbs role-playing community! We are a dedicated site that has had its doors open to role-players for over seven sweet-lovin’ years, and we are proud to say through hard work and many hands we’ve evolved beyond your standard DBZ RPG and well beyond our roots of Dragonball Zento. Chubbs is a freeform play-by-post custom character RPG with an emphasis on quality writing. Feel free to explore our extended universe by taking a look at our Rules, which contains all you need to know about our world. We also offer much more than simple role-playing: we have games, contests, and other social outlets for just hanging out or expressing your mad graphic skills. Overall, we have fun! So please, browse around and we hope that we can welcome you into our fellowship. More importantly, enjoy your stay! Oh, and leave your mercy at the door…

!!READ FIRST!!

By registering an account with our boards, joining, and/or becoming a member, you are agreeing to abide by any and all rules and regulations we the staff have set down on both the website and the forums, based on our interpretation only.

First of all, thank you for your interest in Chubbs DBZ RPG. We’re always on the lookout for new faces. Before you begin the joining process, we ask some easy-to-follow prerequisites.

READ THE SITE! This cannot be stressed enough. You’re wasting our time and yours if you don’t. If you demonstrate that you have not read the site, your application will be denied until you do. If you continue to demonstrate that you have not read the site when directed to do so, this isn’t the place for you and you should look elsewhere.

NO PROXYS. Because of problems we’ve had in the past, and problems we still have today, we no longer allow people to join under a proxy address. If you’re found using one, we will have no choice but to instantly and permanently ban your account. If you have nothing to hide, you should have no fear of using your real IP. The only exception to using a proxy address is if you are already a well-established member and have cleared permission with staff beforehand.

ONE ACCOUNT PER COMPUTER. That means no two members should have the same IP address, because you’re not allowed to have multiple accounts. If you’re caught, any and all accounts with matching IP addresses will be banned. If you are, in fact, two different people sharing one or multiple computers, we require proof due to previous and potential abuse. Before you attempt to join, please send a staff member a picture of both people, each one holding signs pointing to who is whom. If you don’t have a digital camera or a scanner and you can’t borrow one, sorry, but you’re out of luck. It also would be a good idea to tell staff before you join if you’re using a public computer, such as one at a school or library.

CUSTOM CHARACTERS ONLY. We no longer allow newcomers to join as canon characters, or people of the DBZ Universe. You must join as an original custom.

BE COURTEOUS AND RESPECTFUL. Staff reserves the right to deny your application at any point and time on the grounds of you being an ass. We shouldn’t even have to emphasize this, but we REQUIRE all new applicants to treat us with the respect that we treat you. YOU are asking US to be able to role-play here, and if you can’t act like a decent human being, you’ll have to look elsewhere. We do not appreciate nor do we need the attitude. We don’t like IP banning people, but we will do it if pushed.

Once you’ve read the site, register an account with your character’s name. Don’t do something stupid like “ssj3gotenks” or “sk8rboi54987.” Fill out a join form by copy/pasting the one found in this section, and make a post in the Joining Board forum titled “Joining as [blank]” and fill the blank in with your character name. A staff member will respond and once you’re approved, will get you started on setting up your membership. Staff will delete registered accounts on a regular basis to keep the registry clean, so your name may be deleted on accident and you may have to re-register. If you have any questions, read the site and the various stickies, and if they are not answered there, feel free to ask in your join post. If your post has not been responded to in 72 hours (exactly 3 days), you are allowed one bump per 72 hours.

By registering an account with our boards, joining, and/or becoming a member, you are agreeing to abide by any and all rules and regulations we the staff have set down on both the website and the forums, based on our interpretation only.

JOINING

An “alliance” is a gathering of characters that band together through a common goal or mutual friendship. We encourage people to interact with others, and this is one of the ways you can accomplish that. There are benefits to being in an Alliance: you can support each other financially, you can hunt dragon balls for faster gathering, you can get friends who have your back in battle, or you can just have a bunch of people to hang out and role-play with. It may also provide for some good rivalry: many epic Alliance wars have been fought in the past!

In order to become an official Alliance, you must have a minimum of two (2) members and purchase the Alliance Headquarters item, which costs 7,500 zeni. You can split this cost among multiple people, or have one person foot the whole bill.

Each Alliance is also required to have a Leader, but you may have Co-Leaders if you want. The Leader is the overall authority in the group, and chooses the name, as well as has the ability to kick out members of the Alliance if they see fit. Co-Leaders must come to a mutual consensus. Leadership may be passed from one member to another. A Leader may select a “supporting member” who will take care of the Alliance if they are absent. If an Alliance Leader should go inactive and disappear for a long period of time without notice or instruction, another member of the Alliance may take over the Leadership. Leaders may also choose to dissolve the Alliance, and any joint purchases will have to be divvied up amongst the remaining members. Keep in mind that all items place in Alliance storage units are considered public property of the entire Alliance!

In the past, members of Alliances have often been given “ranks,” which can be actual official ranks of power within the Alliance, or simply nicknames just for fun. They also often either followed a theme (such as playing card suits), or were something that poked fun at the character itself (“Nail – something we stick in wooden boards”).

Aside from the advantages listed above, several items are classified as “Alliance Headquarters only” upgrades, and as such are only available to Alliances. For instance, you can choose to purchase the “Meeting Room” upgrade, which will grant you the use of your own private forum that gives access only to your Alliance members.

You’re also, of course, more than welcome to create your own Alliance forum outside of the Chubbs board. There are many free message board providers that have quality use and will get the job done just fine.

STATS

This is a very simple and easy system to understand. There are four actual stats: Strength, Focus, Endurance, and Agility. The fifth and final thing you’ll see listed under your stats is Combat Ability, which is the overall ranking of your character’s fighting strength.

Strength – this is your physical attack power. Basically, this determines how hard you can throw a punch, and how much physical punishment you can dish out.

Focus – this is your ki attack power. This shows how much of a sting your energy attacks cause, how quickly your ki moves, and how big of a mark it can leave.

Endurance – this is your defense. Everything from being able to withstand a kick to the gut to how you can hold out against an enemy’s energy blast.

Agility – this is your movement and attack speed. This covers how quick you can move, how fast you can deal out the pain, and how swiftly you can dodge somebody’s attacks.

Power Points - Abbreviated "PP" this is used to access the most powerful techniques and tap into higher levels of power.

When you create a new character, you’ll be required to distribute 100 “percentage points” amongst the four stats. How many points go where is entirely up to you. Each stat must have a minimum of 1%, be a whole number (no decimals), and all four numbers must add up to exactly 100. For example, your distribution could look something like this:

Quote:Strength: 25%
Focus: 10%
Endurance: 5%
Agility: 60%

Obviously, that character favors speed over attack power and defense. You decide your stats based on how you like your character to fight, or your personal preference of style. You can have a higher percentage for one aspect of battle or keep them all balanced. It’s up to you!

Once you pick your percentage distribution, these stats do not change.

Combat Ability

As stated before, this is the overall measurement of your character’s fighting strength. It’s a measuring stick that helps determine the stronger warrior when two or more are compared together, as well as it governs just how powerful you really are. Each character starts off with a CA of 500. Combat Ability is comprised of the XP you have pumped into it, and any items you’ve equipped with CA-increasing effects. Items only offer benefits so long as they are equipped to one of your Head, Body, or Accessory slots. Combat Ability is only permanently increased through the earning of XP itself. Your Combat Ability may also be multiplied through the earned use of Power Ups, although this is just temporary, lasting only as long as you are in a transformed state.

The distribution of your overall strength is reflected by the percentage of each of the four stats. For example, if two characters had an Agility of 60%, the one with the higher Combat Ability moves faster.

Power Points and Power-Ups

Unlike the other four stats, Power Points can be constantly changing. Power Points can be spent in order to activate Power-Ups, giving your character increased strength in combat. Once a Power-Up is activated, Power Points are immediately drained from a character and a Power-Up can only be activated if the character has enough Power Points stored. In addition to Power-Ups, it is possible to craft Custom Techs that draw on Power Points to greatly increase their strength.

Once a Power-Up is activated, it will last until the current threat has either been resolved or is no longer the focus of your character's attention. For example, if your character finds themselves fighting back a zombie horde and activates a Power-Up, it will last until the zombie horde has either been defeated, or your character has escaped. If, after winning or running, you character then comes across a big bad guy, your character would either have to pay the PP cost of their Power-Up again or return to their base form.

Aside from the Regeneration Ability, Power Points do not regenerate on their own. The only way to recover PP is through the use of consumable items that are available in the shop. Be warned, however, a character can not hold more than 3 PP-restoring items at any one time. Other Techniques and Abilities -- such as Ki Absorption, Venomous Ki, and Healing -- may be used to affect the PP of other characters.

There are only two situations where a Power-Up costs no Power Points. The first is while in the Afterlife. The second is when in a personal storyline; in a personal story, however, using a Power-Up against another player will still cost PP.

XP and Training

XP

Experience points, or more commonly known as “XP,” are a very important aspect of this RPG, as it is through XP that your character grows and learns new things. XP is earned solely by role-playing in our In Character (IC) forums, thus, if you do not role-play, you’ll never be able to rise in the ranks of greatness! Everyone automatically starts off with 10 XP.

There are two primary functions of XP: the first is to bolster your Combat Ability, and the second is as a type of currency used to “purchase” things, which will be one of two options: learning Techniques, which are a pre-set list of moves we’ve provided; or Custom Techniques, personal moves that you create. As you role-play, you will steadily accumulate XP through an automatic code built into our forums, and your points will be deposited in an individual “bank,” which is displayed beneath your username and Private Messages link in the top right-hand corner of the forums. Beyond this method, XP may be given by staff members for exceptional role-playing, although this is rare and should not be expected.

As you accrue XP, your Combat Ability will automatically go up according to a preset formula. No spending required. Your Combat Ability is not determined by the amount of XP in your bank, but rather, it will steadily increase as you continue to earn the XP. The more often you role-play, the faster your warrior will become stronger. Activity will be key to how competitive you are able to be!

The second function is for spending purposes. Once you have collected a number of XP, you choose what you want to do with it by Training, which is explained below. You can pick which Techniques better fit your playing style, or you can learn them all. You could have a variety of different Techniques, or you can choose to skip them entirely and play by your strength alone. That’s the beauty of XP: you earn it, and you choose what to do with it!

A word of caution, however: XP may be deducted as disciplinary action for those who break the role-playing rules. Beyond the minimum requirements, staff will also have guidelines for what constitutes as an acceptable role-play. Also, anyone who is found abusing or tampering with the XP system, which is frequently monitored, will be harshly dealt with. You will receive an automatic Infraction and XP deduction that will be equivalent to your offense. Repeated offense of XP system abuse may lead to a ban.

Training

So now you have your XP, and you definitely want to spend it. Any XP purchases are dealt with in the Training forum, and are treated much like updates. Each character is given their own individual “account thread,” which will be titled under their name. So if I have a character named “Bob,” my account thread will be listed as “Bob.” All of a character’s XP transactions are dealt with in this single thread. You are allowed to post your in your thread and your thread only; you are not allowed to train for someone else, either. Non-compliance will be subject to disciplinary action. If you need to bring something to a staff member’s attention regarding another account thread, use the PM system.

To learn a new Technique, you must meet the required XP cost, which is specifically listed and varies from Technique to Technique. Some Techniques will have other requirements, such as Ki Control being a prerequisite to any Techniques that use an externalization of energy. Once you fulfill the XP cost and any other potential requirement, you post in your account thread that you are “purchasing” the Technique to learn it. The Technique will be added to your roster and the XP deducted from your bank.

To learn a new Custom Technique, it must first be approved by staff in the Custom Technique Approval thread and given an XP cost. Then, you must meet that XP cost, and once you do, follow the procedure mentioned above for purchasing regular Techniques.

All Training accounts will follow the 72-hour update rule. Once you post your XP request, staff members will respond to it within a 72-hour period (3 days), after which you are allowed one “bump” per 72 hours (3 days). Anyone who bumps their thread before 72 hours will receive a verbal warning, and then Infractions for continued non-compliance. Manners are appreciated; so don’t forget “please” and “thank you.”

MONEY

The currency we use here at Chubbs is called “zeni.” Everyone starts out with 250 zeni. Like XP, earning zeni is entirely contingent on role-playing. The main source of your moneymaking is going to be through our “Profession” system, although you can earn additional zeni by other means, namely quests, sparring, or participating in sagas. Zeni may be earned through all of the above methods whether you’re alive or dead, but you cannot use your zeni if you are dead.

It is also possible to offer to pay people zeni as thanks for doing a graphics job. A person may not ask for zeni or require someone to pay them in order to do a graphics job. You may also make bets using your zeni for OOC purposes, or give zeni donations for OOC purposes. Normal transfer rules apply to all of the above.

Shopping

Obviously, if you have money, you are going to want to buy stuff. You can check the Shop for a full list of purchasable items. Any and all of those items are available for sale no matter which planet you are on. When you want to make a purchase, make a new thread in the Capsule Corporation forum. You do not have to role-play a purchase, but you need to fill out this form:

Quote:Items Buying:
Current Zeni: (amount before purchase)
Total Purchase Cost: (how much each item is, and what it adds up to)
Final Zeni: (amount after purchase)

Also, when buying items that increase your Combat Ability (e.g., Battle Chargers), please list the changes that need to be made for easier updating, and specify which items you will be equipping to your Head, Body, or Accessory slots.

If you wish to sell an item back to the shop, you may do so and you will receive one-fourth the price for it. You can sell an item to any shop you want, regardless of where you purchased it.

Transferring Money
The primary reason most people transfer money is if you don’t have enough zeni to make a purchase on your own. If this is the case, you may ask someone else to help you. This is one benefit of being in an Alliance, although you do not have to be in an Alliance to have someone help you out. When you make a purchase and you are taking zeni from multiple accounts, please state that you are doing so in the purchase form and that you have their permission. You do not have to know the person IC (In Character) nor do you have to role-play giving them the zeni.

In order to be able to transfer money, you need to have posted at least one minimum-length role-play within the last two weeks (14 days) prior to the transfer. You may not transfer zeni if you are dead. You also may not transfer zeni if you are quitting or will be leaving for a length of time beyond two weeks (14 days).

cBay

Here at Chubbs, we have something called cBay. Normally, if you want to sell your item, you could sell it back to the shop (any shop will do) and receive one-fourth of the zeni the item is priced at. However, with cBay, you may auction off your items to any player character—whoever is the highest bidder. Post a thread in the cBay sub-forum stating what item and the starting bid, and a date of closure (e.g., five days). You do not have to know the person IC (In Character) nor do you have to role-play giving them the item(s). You cannot trade for items; you must pay in zeni. All bids must be made in increments of 50, and in multiples of 5. Bids ending in anything but a 0 or a 5 will not be accepted. Do not double post: wait until someone outbids you before you bid again. If your item does not sell before the close date, you may extend the sale once. If no one buys it after that, please sell it to the shop instead.

ITEMS

Aside from travel, items are the main reason you’re going to be needing zeni. Each item is available for purchase on any planet, save the Afterlife, where using items and zeni is verboten. They serve different functions, from boosting your Combat Ability to weapons to several other handy uses. Each character has a set of “slots” that their items fall into: Head, Body, Accessory, and Other. Every item is categorized to “equip” into one of those four slots. The Head and Body slots may only have one item equipped at a time, the Accessory slot may one have two items equipped, but there is no limit to how many items you can equip to the Other slot. You cannot carry items that you have no room to equip unless you have purchased a method of storing them, such as a Personal Headquarters or a Warehouse upgrade for an Alliance Headquarters.

You may freely transfer items amongst other players, but it is more profitable for you if you sell them, whether it’s back to the shop for one-fourth its original price or put it up for bid on cBay. In order to be able to transfer items, the same rules apply as if it were money. You need to have posted at least one minimum-length role-play within the last two weeks (14 days) prior to the transfer. You may not transfer items if you are dead. You also may not transfer items if you are quitting or will be leaving for a length of time beyond two weeks (14 days).

Power Point Restoring Items

There is a limit to how many PP-restoring items a character can carry at any one time: three (3). These items include things like the Power Pill, Stimulant, and Senzu Bean. Only three may be carried at a time. This includes any combination of three: 3 Power Pills, or 1 Power Pill + 1 Stimulant + 1 Senzu Bean, 2 Stimulants + 1 Senzu Bean, and so on. These items, however, can be used at any time and instantly restore PP.

PROFESSIONS

Professions are completely optional, but this is where the most zeni can be made. You pick a “Profession,” which is entirely up to you, and can be anything from a bricklayer to an assassin. The only restriction regarding Professions is that they must have a specific task that they do. For example, you cannot be a “Jack-of-All-Trades,” “Freelancer,” “Temp,” or a “Mercenary” that can be employed to do virtually anything under one moniker. You can call your Profession whatever you like, but you must classify it for a specific task. For example, if you were a “Mercenary,” you need to specify whether you were a Mercenary who is hired to kill somebody, or if you were a Mercenary who is hired to protect somebody. So it would either be “Mercenary (Assassin)” or it would be “Mercenary (Bodyguard).” If staff is unsure what entirely your Profession encompasses, we may ask in order to determine if it’s acceptable.

Professions earn money based on a ranking system, Ranks 1-5. The zeni itself is made through “Jobs,” which offer cash rewards for successful completion that will be determined by your rank. The amount of potential zeni you can earn increases with each rank, but so does the difficulty in effort required to actually receive that amount. For instance, Rank 1 Jobs yield relatively low money but are easy to complete, while Rank 5 yields relatively high money but is much harder to complete. Your Jobs are role-plays that should be designed around the type of Profession you picked, so a bricklayer would do construction-type gigs, while an assassin would go after targets to capture or eliminate them. In order to go up in rank, you need to stick with a single Profession and successfully complete a certain number of Jobs to go to the next level. The chart in order to “rank up” is as follows:

Quote:Rank 1 to 2: 4
Rank 2 to 3: 8
Rank 3 to 4: 12
Rank 4 to 5: 16

So, if you’re a Rank 1 Bounty Hunter, you need to complete 4 Bounty Hunter-related Jobs in order to become a Rank 2 Bounty Hunter. If you decide to change Professions, your rank drops one level, to a minimum of one (i.e., you cannot go below Rank 1). So for example, if you were a Rank 3 Bounty Hunter, and you switch to a Bodyguard, you drop down to a Rank 2 Bodyguard.

“Jobs” are simply tasks you give yourself that fall under your specific Profession. In order to qualify for zeni for a Job, you pick a post where the Job starts, and you pick the post where it ends. Between those two points is where the Profession should come into play. When you’ve completed a Job, post a thread in the Updates forum asking for a grade, and based on your rank and effort, you’ll receive zeni for it. Make sure you include your Profession, the type of Job it is, the link to the thread, and the first and last post numbers of the Job. Post numbers can be found on the top right-hand corner of a post, directly across from the time stamp. For example, if I’m a Rank 1 Bounty Hunter, and I role-play a quest for my Profession where I take out the head of a major corporation, my request would look something like this:

Quote:Profession - Bounty Hunter (Rank 1)
Job - Bounty Hunter

[Thread Link], post 4 to post 8.

Can you grade this please? Thanks.

Keep in mind that Job grading takes longer than normal updates, so please observe the 72-hour bump rule. As stated before, the zeni earned is based on your rank and effort, determined by this specific scale:

Quote:Rank 1: 100~300
Rank 2: 200~400
Rank 3: 300~500
Rank 4: 400~600
Rank 5: 500~700

As you can see, the minimum reward for a Rank 1 Job is 100 zeni, which is given for minimal effort, while the maximum reward is 300 zeni, given for the most amount of effort. As you rank up, the reward gradually increases, but so too does the effort required in order to earn those rewards.

As far as multiple people go, if you’d like to role-play completing Jobs in a group, you may do so. Just make sure you specify this in your update request; only one person should make the post. Each person involved will receive an individual grade, and each person’s pay will be determined by Profession, rank, and individual effort. It should look something like this:

Quote:Bob
Profession - Bounty Hunter (Rank 1)
Job - Bounty Hunter

Joe
Profession - Bounty Hunter (Rank 1)
Job - Bounty Hunter

Mike
Profession - Bounty Hunter (Rank 1)
Job - Bounty Hunter

[Thread Link], post 4 to post 8.

Can you grade this please? Thanks.

Although this is an entirely optional system for everybody, for tracking purposes each roster will have the default of “Unemployed.” This simply means you have not selected a Profession. You may choose your Profession at any point and time you’d like. Each one will have its rank listed next to it. For example, if you choose to be a bodyguard, your roster will list you as “Bodyguard - Rank 1.”

Although it should go without saying, once you use a particular post for a Job grade, it cannot be used again for another Job grade.

Quests

We talked about “Jobs” up above, but “Quests” are something different. While a Job is something you come up with yourself, Quests are like writing prompts created for the players. Quests have a defined "difficulty" which determines the amount of effort expected in order to complete the Quest. In addition, Quests are split up by planets, so you can only take on a Quest for the planet you are on.

The biggest difference between Jobs and Quests, though, is that Quests are graded by other writers in the community, not just by the staff. When you complete a Quest, other players will come into a thread, created for your Quest, and decide what reward they think you should receive for what you did. These rewards are then averaged and awarded by the staff. For more information on Quests follow this link:

Quests Forum

Jobs/Quests, Spars and Dragon Balls

You can complete a Job or a Quest while simultaneously attempting to earn a dragon ball. Provided it takes you a long time to earn the dragon ball, you can also, in fact, complete multiple Jobs or Quests, so long as you are following the above rules of not doing a Job and Quest at the same time. So, a thread might be something like this: Posts 1 - 4 go to a Job, Posts 5 - 10 go to a Quest, and all 10 posts count towards earning the dragon ball.

You cannot, however, double up a Job/Quest and a Spar to receive a zeni payment for each. Anything marked as a Spar will receive the Spar reward, and does not count as a Job or a Quest.

Dragon, dragon, rock the dragon! These are seven mystical orbs, each with red stars corresponding to their number. Once all seven balls are gathered into one place, the lucky warrior can summon the almighty Dragon, who will grant the summoner exactly one wish. Ultimate power, infinite riches, even a personal planet, are all within reach of the Dragon. There are currently three sets of dragon balls in existence: the Namekian Dragon Balls, which reside on the planet Namek, and the Galaxial Dragon Balls, which randomly roam the different planets of the known universe. The third set of dragon balls does not reside on the mortal plane, however: the Spirit Dragon Balls can be found only in the deepest, darkest corners of Hell in the afterlife.

For the Namekian Dragon Balls and the Galaxial Dragon Balls, only one set is active at a time, while the others rest uselessly in stone form. Once a wish has been made and fulfilled under one set, those balls will scatter and turn to stone, and the other set will become active.

SPARS AND FIGHTS

Spars

A spar is a friendly (or not-so-friendly) training fight that is between two or more player characters. No one can be killed or seriously injured. They are a good way to interact with other characters and improve your role-playing skills, and you can earn a little zeni as well. In order to engage people in a spar, you must be on the same planet, and cannot be in two places at once or do multiple things at the same time (e.g., you cannot spar somebody in one thread and at the same time be role-playing in a different thread). You can take a break from your personal role-play or training to spar someone, just so long as you are committed to one or the other.

Here are a few additional rules to remember about spars:

You are not allowed to spar with NPCs or use Body Split to spar with yourself. Those are considered character development role-plays only.

Mental spars are allowed and count as a normal spar, but only if all participants have Telepathy. Participants of mental spars may be on different planets, including the afterlife. All participants must have met In Character prior to the mental spar.

If your partner(s) become inactive at any time during the spar, it is considered null and void.

There is no fluid timing allowed for spars. As of Jan. 14th, 2011, you are allowed to fluid time spars.

As with any other IC post, you are not allowed to post any OOC comments and all role-plays must be 300 words minimum. Infractions will be given for non-compliance.

In order to set up a spar, you make arrangements with another player on the same planet as you. Post a thread in the Spar/Fight Forum titled “[Spar] Player 1 vs. Player 2” except fill in the details, like “[Spar] Bob vs. Joe” or what have you. For a large group of people, “[Spar] Free-For-All” is acceptable as well. Each participant will equally post back and forth until the spar is finished. There doesn’t have to be a winner or a loser, so don’t worry about that. When you’re done, whoever has the last turn makes a post in the Updates forum asking for a staff member to evaluate and determine the zeni rewards. Each participant is graded on his or her individual efforts. As with any other update, please wait 72 hours before bumping. Spars take longer than most normal updates.

Remember, the higher quality of your role-playing, the better rewards you’ll get. No rewards will be given out for minimal effort. Don’t expect to be able to post one crappy role-play and get something out of it.
In a fight, you are risking your livelihood. This isn’t training: it’s the real deal. Fights can be used to settle an In Character dispute, to challenge someone for possession of a dragon ball, or just for character development. First, you need to find your opponent(s) by Ki Sensing them out or some other method; they must be on the same planet as you. Next, you must officially challenge them via PM or through role-play. All participants must agree to the fight before it starts. Once everyone has agreed, post a separate thread from your personal, group or saga role-play thread titled the same as you would a spar, except substitute “Fight” in place of “Spar.” The rest of the procedure is the same as a spar: back and forth equally until you’re done and post for an update. As with any other update, please wait 72 hours before bumping. Fights take longer than most normal updates.

In a fight, there must be a winner or a loser. If it’s a draw, both players walk away, although they may both be seriously injured. The winner can choose to kill or spare the loser. If the loser is spared, the winner may seriously injure them. Draws or losers with serious injuries must wait one week of OOC time to recover before fighting or sparring again. Those who have Regeneration or someone who has Healing used on them will only have to wait three (3) OOC days instead. If the fight is a challenge for a dragon ball, the winner claims the ownership. No rewards for fights will be given to any participant.
Here are a few additional rules to remember about fights:

No one is allowed to jump in a fight after it has started unless they are physically present before it began, regardless if they have Combat/Travel Teleportation or Ki Sense. Fights would take a matter of minutes, and realistically no one would have time to fly in or would randomly sense someone in trouble.

Staff determines who wins and who loses. If the staff member feels it’s even, a draw may be declared. However, the participants of the fight may determine a winner and a loser on their own, as long as it is cleared with staff and all participants agree. Keep in mind that deaths and suicides determined by members will heavily affect your judgment in the afterlife.

Any participant of the fight may attempt to run away at any time. In order to get away, you’d need Travel Teleportation, Time Stop, a higher Agility, or any type of cloaking. Participants may not run away if a Stasis Grenade or any like item is used.

Fights may be called off as a draw at any time as long as all players agree.

There may be multiple winners and losers, in the case of alliance fights or free-for-alls.

TECHNIQUES AND ABILITIES

There are two main categories for ‘character moves’ in this RPG: “abilities” and “techniques.” Abilities are generally more powerful than their counterpart, and are far more difficult to obtain. There is also a larger variety to allow better customization to your preference of fighting style. Techniques are somewhat less powerful, and there are less of them, but they are more readily attainable. Techniques also have a sub-category, “Custom Techniques,” which are moves that characters can create, and are unique to each individual. Each character starts off with two inherent Abilities, and the rest they must earn.

Abilities

Every new character, at creation, will automatically start with any two Abilities of your choosing. After that, the only way to learn a new Ability is to wish for one using the dragon balls. You cannot learn an Ability through XP, hence, they have no cost.

Most Abilities are passive in nature, meaning they don’t have a direct application in battle, to the exclusion of things like Healing. Rather, they supplement your skills, or are enhancements to skills you already know. For instance, every character has hand-to-hand combat skills and can learn how to use ki through the Ki Control Technique. However, abilities like “Ki Specialization” or “Martial Arts Specialization” simply mean that your character has a higher degree of skill than is normal. Some Abilities are also stronger versions of Techniques, such as Psychokinesis being a much more potent version of Telekinesis.

This does not, however, imply that Abilities are by any means weak. Be creative! You can choose Abilities that complement each other or balance each other out. Each and every one can be a deadly weapon in the right hands.

Techniques

These are your main source of skills, and contain the groundwork for more powerful moves. For example, nobody starts off with Flight, which is considered a very basic and oftentimes integral part of fighting. And Ki Control is required for anything that uses an externalization of energy. Each Technique has a specific cost, which is determined in XP. Once you’ve accumulated enough XP to pay the cost, you simply “buy” the Technique and presto, you’ve learned it! For more on that subject, check out the XP and Training section. There is no limit to how many Techniques you can have. You can learn them all if you want. This particular category holds two very awesome benefits, “Custom Techniques,” and the much sought after Power Ups.

Custom Techniques – these are moves that you can create yourself. Unlike their predecessor, ‘Best Moves,’ Custom Techniques have the potential to be far stronger. These are purchased with XP, just like regular Techniques. However, their actual XP cost is determined by their strength and attributes, with relativity towards already established Technique costs. The higher the cost, the stronger the Custom Technique is determined to be, and vice versa. Staff members will officially decide every cost.

Custom Techniques can be as versatile as you want them to be. They could act as anything that’s a DBZ standard, such as a Kamehameha, or something you create of your very own. You can also design it to be a passive move; if we don’t already have a Technique or Ability for something you’d like to do, then you can fill the gap. There are a few guidelines for Custom Technique creation.

Upon submission for XP cost determination, every Custom Technique must have a full explanation as to how it works. If the name of your attack is in Japanese (or any other foreign language for that matter), please provide its English translation as well. For example, “Makankosappo” is the Japanese version of “Special Beam Cannon.”

Instant/semi-instant death moves are not allowed.

Your Custom Technique cannot involve an Ability or regular Technique if you have not learned it. For instance, if you don’t know Elemental Ki, you cannot have a move that involves Fire, Water, Ice, Wind, Lightning, or Light. If you don’t know Telepathy or Possession, you can’t invade someone’s mind or body. If you don’t know Combat Teleportation, you can’t have any moves involving teleportation. The list goes on.

None of your Custom Techniques can change or affect your stats or increase your own energy in any way, shape, or form. If you want an attack to be able to attack or drain another person’s energy, you need Venomous Ki (attacks energy), or Ki Absorption (drains energy and replenishes yours).

Once you’ve picked your Custom Technique and paid the XP cost for it, you cannot change it. There is currently no cap on how many Custom Techniques you can learn, so you can simply just make a new one instead

Power Ups – these are very straightforward. There are three (3) tiers, and each one multiplies your Combat Ability by a certain amount. Ensuring across-the-board-fairness, each and every race earns their Power Ups by XP, and all offer equal stat increase. You must purchase them in sequence: you need Tier 1 before you can buy Tier 2, and you need Tier 2 to get Tier 3. Power Ups do not stack; you can only have one Power Up and one tier active at a time.

Each Power Up can manifest in a different way for different races. For example, saiyans can have “Super Saiyan,” where their hair turns gold and their eyes turn turquoise. Changelings can alter their forms, and nameks have been known to become “Super Nameks” from time to time. For many races, a Power Up is not defined by the entire species, but varies from person to person. Therefore, they can choose how their Power Ups manifest, which can be anything from a physical change to simply what color your energy is. Once you’ve chosen how your Power Up works, however, you cannot change it or alter it in any way.

In addition to the standard Power Ups, there is a unique technique known as Kaioken. This Technique, obtainable only by those who have completed King Kai's training, provides your character with a CA, like other Power Ups, but can be used at the same time as the standard variety, but only in short bursts. That means that during a fight, your character can transform into a Super Saiyan and activate Kaioken at the same time for an even more substantial bonus.

Power Ups can also be “mixed and matched,” which means you can intersperse a racial Power Up, like Super Saiyan, with a custom Power Up of your very own. However, in the instance of Super Saiyan, your level of “Super Saiyan” will have to match the corresponding tier. For example, Tier 1 will always be Super Saiyan 1, Tier 2 will always be Super Saiyan 2, and Tier 3 will always be Super Saiyan 3. So, given any scenario, it would look something like this:

Quote:Tier 1 > Tier 2 > Tier 3

SSJ1 > SSJ2 > Custom
SSJ1 > Custom > SSJ3

As you’ve hopefully realized, we are a 100% custom character RPG. We did at one point use canons, but this is no longer the case. This section will cover the guidelines to creating your character, as well as what to do if you’d like to switch to a different one.

Character Creation

There are specific guidelines for this, as this is a bit trickier than simply having a canon character. Everything from naming to hybrids is covered.

Naming

This is pretty simple. You cannot name a custom character after a canon character. For example, no custom can run around with the name “Vegeta” or “Goku” or anything like that. Not even a derivative like “Trunks Jr.” or “Vegeta the IV.” Secondly, lay off the names of famous characters from anime, video games, and the like. A character cannot run around with the name “Sephiroth” or something like that. Thirdly, no duplicate names. For instance, if there is already a character named “Kane,” you can’t join as a character named “Kane” even if you use an alternate spelling. Fourthly and lastly, keep it appropriate.

History

Since there’s no canon blueprint for customs, joiners should feel a little bit more sense of freedom and creativity when it comes to making backgrounds. You can essentially be anyone you want, so long as it doesn’t conflict with the following rules.

No blood or marital relations to any canons, customs, or past and current NPCs. In essence, you cannot be an ancestor, descendant, father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, cousin, husband, or wife (or any of those in combination with half-, step-, grand-, great-, ex-, twin, or “long lost&#8221, to any canon character in the DB/Z/GT universe, any customs including the ones preceding the turnover, or any already-created NPC in the Chubbs universe. This includes clones and replicates (mechanical or otherwise), or alternate time/universe versions.

No history involving another character or past and current NPC. Nobody knows anybody when they start out. So you can’t be good friends with Vegeta or swear vengeance on Goku for something he did to you.

No Akira Toriyama history, or pretty much no DB/Z/GT history. We have our own history. Planet Vegeta was never blown up or ruled over by Frieza. There was no Ginyu Force. There was no alternate timeline where the Earth was terrorized by androids.

No history conflicting with Chubbs history. Basically, you can’t make yourself king of Planet Vegeta or saying your character did something that somebody else did or things like that.

No duplicate characters or references from outside the DB/Z/GT universe. You cannot have a character made similar or identical to somebody from a video game, anime, comic book, or the like. So no Ex-SOLDIER Clouds or Zanpakuto-toting Ichigos.

Appearance

When you create your character, you need to give a general description of your character, listing all the basic physical traits: hair color, body type, and etcetera. This is what you must adhere to when picking the pictures you use for avatars and signatures. If you say you have blonde hair and blue eyes, your images better be someone with blonde hair and blue eyes. Character images are approved in the Artistic Interpretation thread in the Workshop forum.

If you want to change the person in your graphics, there must be a strong similarity to the preceding image. For instance, you can’t start off looking like Cloud and then jump to looking like Sephiroth. Something more along the lines of jumping from Cloud to Tidus would be more acceptable. We know that simple things like a haircut or a dye job or what have you can explain changes, but you must stay in the general area of the character description you started out with. Keep any deviations simple and reasonable.

No canon look-a-likes. For example, you can’t have a picture of Vegeta, change his hair color to red, and say it’s a different person. You cannot use an image of a canon character for a custom, no matter what rationale you may use. The reason for this is that those characters are still active (whether as NPCs or not) in the Chubbs universe, and as such their likeness belongs to them. The only exception to this are the nameks, who can use any picture of any namek, so long as they aren’t using the exact same pictures or poses.

No duplicate images. If somebody is already using a picture of Terry Bogard from SNK, you can’t use any Terry Bogard pictures. In instance of our original custom character, no one else is allowed to use pictures of Sasuke or Itachi from Naruto. This includes modified pictures, ala the change of hair color example used above. It’s basically first-come, first-serve. This is to prevent confusion of characters. As previously, nameks may use pictures of any nameks, so long as they aren’t using the exact same pictures or poses.

Nameks must be asexual male. We once had a Nail who used the dragon balls to wish for a penis, but that’s about it.

Full-blooded saiyans must have black hair and black eyes. Anything else, and you have to classify them as “half-saiyan.” Super Saiyan transformations must have blond hair and turquoise eyes; Super Saiyan transformations will always adhere to DBZ canon. Anything else, and it is considered a custom Power Up and cannot be called “Super Saiyan.”

Hybrids

We’ve got no problem if you want to be half of one race and half of another. The races that we have are saiyan, namek, android, changeling, or generic (everything else). When you select a mixed race, you must pick a dominant half to determine your power up set. If you’re a half-human, half-saiyan character, you cannot have both generic and saiyan power ups: you’re either a Super Saiyan or you create your own power up. Bear in mind, nameks (asexual males) can only be combined with android, because even though they don’t reproduce with others they can still be fitted as machines.

Switching Characters

Fact of life: everybody thinks about it sooner or later. We have a firm “one-size-fits-all” policy about switching characters. If for whatever reason you are unhappy with your current character and would like to switch, you are free to do so. Keep in mind, there is a procedure, and there is a penalty.

First of all, make sure it’s completely and 100% what you want. Get a character you can see yourself going the distance with. All switches are dealt with in the Updates forum.

When you switch, everything is wiped, and your stats are reset. This means that you lose all current items, zeni, Abilities, Techniques, and Custom Techniques. You must choose new percentages for your stats, and your Combat Ability is halved. You also pick a new Trait, new Profession, and two new Abilities to start with. A new Character Bio will also be needed after the switch. The only thing you’re allowed to keep is any unspent XP you have accumulated, so you won’t be starting completely from scratch. Essentially, treat a switch as a new join application, minus the role-play sample.

It’s that simple. You don’t need to include a reason, there are no time limits, and no caps on how many times you can switch, so long as you are willing to pay each time you do so. This freedom should be exercised with thought and consideration. There will be no leniency if you “change your mind.” Once a switch request is put through, it will not be reversed, and a new switch must occur after the fact for any alteration.

Here are some things to remember about switching:

You are not allowed to switch to a custom character or NPC that was used by someone else.

Players returning to activity after an extended break may pick up their previous character with no penalty. If they are, however, choosing a completely new character, it counts as a switch.

When you switch, you stay in the same location you are currently at.

Switching does revive you. If your previous character was dead, your new one will be brought back to the realm of the living.

ROLE-PLAYING

Minimum Role-play Requirements

Each role-play must follow a couple of very simple guidelines to qualify as an acceptable role-play. First of all, each post must be a minimum of 300 words. Second, they should have good grammar and spelling. It doesn’t have to be 100% perfect, but it should be understandable enough to be read. Third, there are two kinds of posts: IC (In Character), and OOC (Out Of Character). IC posts are done in the IC forums, and OOC posts are done in the OOC forums. Role-plays cannot be OOC posts, or contain any form of “OOC tag” whatsoever, and doing so will result in an Infraction as well as an XP penalty. If you have a note or comment to add, find a way to do that in the OOC forums. This includes song lyrics. You are more than welcome to use the RPG Discussion forum for OOC commentary on role-plays.

Lastly, in your role-plays, your custom is required to be the central or “main” character. You may not give NPCs (Non-player Characters) or other characters excessive “face time,” and by that, an NPC or other character may not be the primary focus of your role-plays to the point that your character has less involvement than they do, or is less important.

All role-plays are also required to follow the General Conduct rules.

Godmoding

“Godmoding” or “powermoding” and any other terms it may be known as is expressly forbidden in this RPG. Godmoding is making your character insanely powerful: possessing limitless energy, being unbeatable or untouchable, “owning” every single one of your opponents and hitting them with overpowered attack after overpowered attack, or any similar concepts. Also, godmoding is considered to be the magic ability to miraculously get out of any difficult situation with impractical ease or be instantly recovered or healed after traumatic incident. Godmoding can be full on, or done to a lesser extent. You must role-play your character within realistic range of your stats or abilities, especially against other characters.

There is a similar concept to godmoding commonly known as “bunnying,” which means taking control of somebody else’s character and using them to affect a storyline according to how you want it to go, or excessively role-playing another character’s thoughts or point of view. If you do not have someone’s permission for the liberty to affect or influence his or her character’s storyline, it is considered bunnying and is not allowed. There are various degrees of bunnying, and it is generally assumed that when you voluntarily role-play with multiple people it is required to have some kind of participation with others.

Another similar concept is known as "metagaming". When used in the context of RPGs, it refers to using Out of Character knowledge inside of your roleplay Essentially, we do not allow you to overhear a conversation on AIM or to read a private conversation between two characters in a roleplay and suddenly your post has them informing your character of all of this information without the writer's permission. This includes having an NPC make a "big reveal" about the secrets of another character against their permission. It violates the intentions of the writer and we do not allow it.

Activity

When you become a member of Chubbs, it is expected that you will role-play. We understand that you have a real life with real life priorities outside of this online world, but when you come here, you have to be ready to write. If you don’t want to write just for the pleasure of writing, keep in mind that your character’s growth depends solely on how much you role-play: no writing, no XP!

Being that we are an all-custom RPG, and nobody is allowed to take your custom character, there is no need for a minimum activity requirement to keep your character. There is, however, a minimum activity requirement to do certain things, such as transfer money or items. This is to ensure fairness for all players.

We also encourage people to role-play in groups, or finding a role-playing buddy. Most people have found this is not only enjoyable and makes for more interesting stories and character development, but helps keep them more active than if they were to role-play by themselves. You’re certainly welcome to solo it, but try running with a partner if you have difficulty motivating yourself.

If you will for some reason have difficulty posting in general (and will subsequently be unable to role-play) for one week or more, please make a courtesy post in the Stepping Out thread in the Updates forum stating that you are leaving, why, and when you’ll be back (if you don’t know, give an estimate).

There could be many reasons for this, and we’re very understanding of them, because more than likely we’ve gone through one or two of them before ourselves. If you can’t post yourself, have someone do it for you. If it’s a personal reason you don’t want to post, PM a staff member and we’ll make sure you’re excused. If we don’t know, we can’t do anything about it.

DO NOT post in this thread if you are going away for the weekend or will be away for a couple of days or anything like that. If it affects someone you’re role-playing with, tell them or post it in a saga discussion thread or something. The whole RPG doesn’t need to know. All posts of this nature will be automatically disregarded or deleted.

Sagas

These are what everyone lives for. Sagas are group role-playing events, often spanning across the Chubbs universe and involving most or potentially all of the member population. Some of these sagas are yearly, like our ever-popular and unique Dante’s Abyss tournament. Most of them are staff-run, but our members are also more than welcome to create their own mass storylines. Whether staff or member operated, sagas are enjoyable because it gives everyone a chance to interact with other characters and improve their writing skills on a much greater scale than solo role-playing. Large sagas being run by one person may have a member cap due to overwhelming participation, although this is rare. If you’re into rewards, these are good opportunities to earn them, but don’t expect one, because it’s not an automatic given!

Fluid Time

Fluid timing essentially rearranges chronological time and allows your character to be in two places at once. For example, your character is in a quest on Earth. You’re not finished with the quest, but a saga is starting on Vegeta-sei. Fluid time allows you to role-play your character traveling to Vegeta and starting the saga, while at the same time you role-play finishing your quest. Chronologically, your character finished the quest and then went to Vegeta-sei, but you used fluid to get the quest done while starting the saga. Confusing? It can be if you don’t understand it. It can also be used to explain how two people can be in the same immediate area at the same time, and do not acknowledge this OOC fact in their role-plays.

Fluid timing isn’t something that’s used in everyday role-playing and requires staff permission every single time. Its purpose is for major sagas when people have things they need more time to wrap up, or for people who are trying to complete the same quests at the same time that do not want to have other people involved (this does not include dragon ball hunting), but there comes a cut-off point. It isn’t meant so people can be in a saga and do a personal role-play alongside the saga, or be used to ignore every single person around you.

This section is intended to explain the concept, and inform people that it is not a “free pass” whenever you have two things you want to do or to exclude all other role-players in quests and the like. Do not expect to be an exception. Staff members do not have to do this, but offer it occasionally to be considerate.

Updates

You will probably see this mentioned many times, but we just can’t say it enough. For things that require grading, such as quests, spars, judgments, or anything of the like, you make a post in the Updates forum stating what the update is for, and make sure you provide a link to the thread(s) in question that needs grading or judgment. A staff member will respond to your update within 72 hours (3 days). If a staff member does not respond within 72 hours (3 days), you are allowed to “bump” your update, or post a reply reminding us we haven’t taken care of you yet. Please do so in a polite and respectful manner. You are allowed one bump per 72 hours (3 days), and no sooner. Anyone who bumps their thread before 72 hours will receive a verbal warning, and then Infractions for continued non-compliance.

All updates are to be considered as Staff Only posts, meaning only a staff member and the member who created the thread can reply to them. Commentary is not necessary on this forum. If you have something in particular to say to a person, use the PM system. If you have a similar or even identical issue to a thread already posted, make a separate thread. Do not post in somebody else’s! Any non-compliance will result in an immediate Infraction.
