"So, Vixi, how did you end up in that pet shop?" Aurora asked the fox like creature. Her eyes sparkled up at the girl, a small smile crossed its lips.

"My old master dropped me off. He left me in the alley. He told me that he would be back, but then it started raining, and he never returned." For a moment, a feeling of sadness filled the small creature's bulbous eyes, and Aurora, all she could feel is animosity. Who would leave such a creature all alone in the world to fend for itself?

"Well, Vixi, it wasn't right of him. I am here for you now, and you don't ever have to worry about me abandoning you." They entered the massive gate lined park, where children played on the different playground equipment, their laughter punctuating the air with joyous glee.

The digimon nodded, but still, she didn't trust the human. She had been abandoned twice before, and it wasn't a comforting thought that she was on master number three. It just wasn't fair. Oh, well. All for the best, she supposed.

"So, what do you want to do?" Aurora smiled down at the digimon, who, lost in thought, had been lost in her memories and did not hear the question.

"Huh?"

Aurora sighed. She had some work to do with this one. Somehow, the trust factor wasn't up to par, and she had to knock it up a few notches. "I said, what do you want to do? Want to go play on the swings?"

Vixi shook her head. "No. I don't much like swings. But..." She eyed the slide, and pointed. "Mind if we go on that?"

?No-talent jerk.? Dietrich growled as he walked alongside the floating creature who was allegedly his ?guide?. To be honest, despite the sheer idiocy of the claims of this ?DemiMeramon?, all around the blue eyed teen was nothing but wilderness. Some palm trees dotted the area, and the rest was a mix of dirt and tall grass, with paths cut through them in several twisting directions.

?Hello?!?

?Huh? What?? Dietrich snapped back to ?reality?, looking over at the little fireball who had addressed him. ?...Huh??

?I said, ?who?s a no-talent jerk??? DemiMeramon inquired, looking up at the human with wide eyes. The German raised an eyebrow and blinked in surprise. He was sure he hadn?t said that out loud.

?Back in Berlin- uh, I mean... back where I?m from, this guy... oh, forget it,? he answered, spinning his revolver with his index finger as they continued to walk. ?Tell me, are we headed anywhere in particular??

?Well... I don?t know, to be honest. You?re one of the DigiDestined. That makes you very important here.? answered the living flame.

?But why? What good could I possibly be doing here?!? Dietrich shouted, halting the movements of his gun by wrapping his hand around the grip. ?Why am I so important?!?

?I?m... not sure yet. But I do know there are others like you,? the spherical blaze hesitated for a moment. ?If you want, we can search for them. After all, there?s no sense being here if we don?t know why you?re here.?

?I?ve got a better idea. Is there any way back to the real world?? demanded the former street racer.

?This world is real.?

?Well, fine. Is there any way back to my world, then? Or any kind of fuckin? civilization?? Dietrich raved, becoming more and more on edge at the prospect of being separated from his entire life. ?I have friends. A job, a girlfriend! I have to get back-?

?I don?t think there are any ways back.? DemiMeramon interrupted. The blond blinked several times, before placing his free hand on his chin. His breathing grew heavy, filled with anger and frustration. He began spinning his revolver again, faster, this time.

?Scheisse!!? he roared, hammering his foot into a rock and launching it into the grass. ?Okay, so I?m stuck in Buttfuck, Middle-of-Nowhere with nobody but you. I got one bloody bullet and no car. Okay...? Dietrich took a few deep breaths. ?You said there were other humans around here? Do you know where??

?Well, no, I don?t. Um... there?s a little village a day or so away from here. We could head out there and ask around... but...?

?What is it??

?Well... the Digimon on this continent are prone to violence. Plus... a lot of them don?t like humans. We?ll have to be real careful so long as we?re here.? DemiMeramon explained.

?Digimon?? the boy questioned.

?Yeah, Digimon. Like me, I?m a Digimon. You?re a human, get it?? the fireball explained.

?Yeah, I get it. Well, if we?re a day out, is there any place close by to get some food and shit for the trip?? Dietrich asked.

?Uh huh! There?s a restaurant not far away! We could go there for food. For that other thing... I don?t know where you?d get it.? the digital creature answered.

?Awesome. Let?s go there, I guess,? the German decided, still twirling his revolver. ?Hey. What was your name again??

?DemiMeramon.? he answered.

?Okay. Mine?s Dietrich. Uh... I appreciate the help you?ve been trying to give me. Wish I could repay you, but... I don?t got anything.? came the sheepish reply.

?It?s okay. You?ll be paying back all of us once you discover your purpose here. Who knows? Maybe after you fulfill that purpose, you can go back to your home.? the flame-monster hypothesized.

?Yeah... maybe. Hey, let?s get moving.? Dietrich suggested, breaking out into a run. DemiMeramon rushed ahead, bobbing along through the air as he raced over the grass, just high enough above the blades to avoid igniting them and putting his human companion in danger.

Alan made his way down the path slowly, the pudgy reptile hopping up and down energetically in front of him, seemingly leading the way. The teen brushed some hair from his eyes as he looked up, trying so see any hint of blue through the dense cannopy. There was enough sunlight penetrating the branches to signify that it was indeed still daylight.

"Hey, um...DemoVeeman was it?" Alan asked the bouncing animal.

"It's 'DemiVeemon', what do you need, Partner?" The last word seemed to excite him, now hopping a few inches from the ground every few seconds.

"I just don't quite understand what's going on..." The dark haired human stated, slowing to a stop. "A couple minutes ago, I was on my computer, now i'm in some kind of wierd computer simulation. What happened?"

"This isn't a computer simulation, Partner. This is the Digital World where Digimon like me live!" DemiVeemon raised his short arms toward the sky as he explained. "I've been waiting ever since my birth for my partner to arrive, my dream has finally come true!"

Alan raised an eyebrow at the hysterical creature, backing up a little. "First off, you can call me Alan instead of 'Partner' if you want, after all it is my name." He said, fearing his conversations with the little lizard would sound like a bad western movie. "Let's assume that I believe you...that I really got sucked through my computer into the so called 'Digital World'. Why am I here?"

DemiVeemon pondered the question for a bit, sticking his small paw into his mouth. "You were destined to arrive here and journey with me through the Digital World." He finally said, smiling up at Alan.

"Okay, makes as much sense as everything else here." He answered, scratching his head. "What were you saying before about me being your partner and protecting me?"

"Certain Digimon are born to be partnered with humans who enter the digital world, Digidestined. When I get enough experience and after enough time has passed, sometimes i'll Digivolve, or grow!" The sky blue reptillian creature said.

Alan tried to imagine a six foot tall DemiVeemon, quickly dismissing the odd picture. "About the protecting, what are you protecting me from?"

"Other Digimon of course. Some are mean and like to hurt others that are smaller than them." DemiVeemon said, as if he knew the feeling of being bullied.

Alan nodded, looking around for a gang of stuffed animals. "What about this thing?" He asked, pulling the digivice from his jeans pocket.

"The digivice will allow me to digivolve to higher levels." DemiVeemon replied, as if it were obvious.

"And what did you mean before when you recognised me from through the digivice?"

"A little while ago, the Digivice started beeping. So I went to find out why it was acting so strange, I looked at the screen and I saw you! So, I tried to talk to you and get you to come out." DemiVeemon said, still smiling.

That makes sense. He thought.

Having absorbed these facts, he nodded and began his walk again, DemiVeemon leading the way. Trees passed on both sides as the two wound through the forest, making their way toward an unknown destination. The little reptile in front of him seemed to never run out of energy, still bouncing along happily down the path.

"Where are we going, anyway?" Alan asked the creature, still keeping up with the lizard.

"I don't know, we're following the path I guess. Hopefully we don't run into any mean Digimon on our way through here." The digimon looked around cautiously.

Right on cue, something zipped by Alan's ear, wedging itself into the bark of the tree behind him. Whipping his head aroung, the teen observed a small jagged knife sticking out of the tree directly behind him. Instantly, DemiVeemon sprung into action, leaping into the trees to find the assailant. It was not needed though, as a second after the tiny reptile went to climb the tree, a small sphereical blur emerged from the tree branches, landing on the ground below. Now in plain sight, the attacker stood, masked with a swrod slung on his back and chain mail covering his arms.

"Heh heh...look who we got here..." The shifty looking onion shaped attacker muttered.

DemiVeemon re-emerged from the brush, eyes blazing. "Ninjamon, leave my friend alone!"

"Why? Playing target practice with his head is so much fun...besides, you're too easy to hit." The dwarf pulled another couple of knives from a pouch on his waist, ready to toss them expertly.

"I said, Leave him alone!" The small reptile yelled, standing on all fours.

"Oh, so brave now that you have a new friend, what happened to the cowardly DemiVeemon we all love to beat on?" Ninjamon smiled evily, tossing a blade into the air and catching it without looking.

DemiVeemon snarled fearsomely, though it would have been more intimidating had he not such a high pitched voice. Without warning, the ninja hurled his knife at the lizard, the target hopping to his left to avoid the blade. Growling angrily, the lizard pounced on the ninja, uttering the phrase 'Demi Pummle!' heroicly. The assassin laughed aloud, knocking the lizard down effortlessly and drawing his sword.

The dark haired human stood back from the battle several feet, fearing for his small ally. As the ninja drew his blade, the teen ran forward, tackling the miniscule digimon. Grunting angrily, the ninja tried to free himself, swinging his small fists at Alan's exposed face. Dispite his small size, the teen soon found himself with several bleeding wounds, the fact that the digimon had drawn two daggers not helping his chances of success. Finally getting tired of injuries, Alan gripped the Ninja's tiny wrist and flung him toward a tree, hoping to finish off the bothersome digimon. Too his frustration, Ninja landed easily on a bough, pulling the sword from it's sheath as he landed.

"Heh...and now for the coup de grace..." He raised his sword and leapt from the branch, bringing the blade down toward Alan's exposed neck.

"Grrrr!" The infuriated DemiVeemon growled as he pounced from the ground toward the airborne Ninjamon. I'm not letting Ninjamon kill my only friend...

The two collided, Ninjamon finding himself slamming into the ground rather than dealing a blow to Alan. The small repitillian digimon swung his fists rapidly at the predator, ending his combo with a final 'Demi Headbutt!', his overly large cranium slamming into Ninjamon.

Alan almost found himself clapping as he watched his digimon pummle the armed foe. To his shock and alarm, he soon saw DemiVeemon flung from Ninjamon, a small cry of pain coming from his mouth. His fists clenched tightly as he willed his small ally to stand. It can't end like this...

Ninjamon chuckled evily as he approached the now stirring DemiVeemon. "Back for more I see..."

Kiro?s legs began to tire, as he walked ever onward through the large forest. Yokomon was peering happily out of Kiro?s backpack, watching as trees passed her by.

?Where exactly are we going?? Kiro asked his small companion.

?Wherever we want!? squeaked Yokomon excitedly. ?We can have adventures anywhere and everywhere!?

Yokomon?s green eyes glistened excitedly as she rested silently in her master?s backpack. Kiro smiled contentedly, and the two continued onwards.

~-~

After walking for what seemed like hours, Kiro and Yokomon finally came to an area where trees became less common. The farther Kiro walked, the smaller an amount of trees there were.

?Look! Kiro!? Yokomon pointed her flowered head towards a large metal wall, which appeared to be blocking off a small community.

Kiro?s face lit up excitedly, and he ran forwards, towards the digi-village. When Kiro and Yokomon reached the metal wall, they began to search it for some kind of door. Eventually, the two found a door after they rounded the corner of the wall. The metal barricade apparently blocked off the community in a square shape.

?Hey! Let us in!? yelled Kiro, knocking metal door.

?Who?s there?? came a raspy voice.

?My name?s Kiro. I?m a human,? began Kiro.

Kiro?s explanation was cut short, as the door creaked upon. Facing him, was what looked like a small dinosaur in armor. It held an odd gun, and wore an army helmet.

?My name?s Commandramon,? spoke the digimon, extending its armored claw.

?I?m Kiro, and this is Yokomon,? spoke the jet haired teen, taking Commandramon?s claw and shaking it.

?Pleased to meet you, and welcome to our village,? said the creature.

Looking forth, Kiro saw small huts, apparently where the digimon of the village lived. Baby digimon and in-training digimon ran about freely, and there were a good number of rookie digimon as well. Kiro smiled and walked forth, into the digi-village.

The warmth that came form the glow of Micla?s digivice was all too familiar to Betamon. His body began to illuminate light at a continuous rate, and soon his from began to change much more drastically than it had before. His singularly-clawed feet were replaced by large, gold slippers, fitting perfectly under the shining of the silver legs. His green torso had expanded and turned into a shimmering white, from which a pair of wings and an elegant tail, all of which were tipped with a nice, royal blue, spouted forth. A long, narrow neck came from the top of the body, lengthing multiple feet, and topping it all off was the head. Oval eyes, with the iris being coloured an army green decorated the long head, with the back of it shooting back to and being edged with black. A royal blue stripe came from the black tipping and moved to the front of the head, passing the eyes, and stopping at the beak, which spouted out.

To finish off the d?cor of the champion, a plate in the form of a necklace formed around the digimon?s neck. Crested on the plate was what looked to be a seal of the angels, elegantly written in gold. Once the transmutation had been completed, the glow had dissipated away and Fugamon had taken his arm away from his eyes.

Swanmon looked at the ogre with great intensity, angered beyond belief what he thought the virus had done to Micla. Without hesitation, the bird raised his wings, readying himself for his attack. ?White Marie!? shouted the swan, launching disastrous feathers at his foe. Each one immediately straightened itself so that there was a blade facing Fugamon. The ogre tried to bat them away, but his club could only stop a select few?which had become lodged into the club.

Streams of code began to spout from the ogre and flew into the digital sky, but he was still there. Seeing that this did not finish him off, Swanmon went in for another attack. Brining his wings up again, he soon brought them down again and repeated, flapping vigourously. ?Down Tornado!? A small tornado began to form directly in front of the bird, but did not make a large impact directly near its exterior. It soon sped towards the ogre and hit him with much force, getting him stuck within the internal velocities. Once this was done the ?White Marie? was launched again and they were stuck within the tornado, continuously cutting up Fugamon. Soon enough the tornado disappeared and along with it the ogre.

The swan rushed over to Micla, grabbing the girl in one of his wings and began to flap with the other one. Just as the bird was about to get off the ground, it suddenly cracked. Both Micla and Swanmon were sent spiraling towards the underground. Along the way the woman began to wake up and saw the swan holding her. Her eyes were glazed over, causing a heavenly appearance to be casted over the digimon. It looked as though an angel was carrying her, but soon after she got the look the girl fell back into her slumber, not being able to see as her digimon landed safely on the ground below.

Xander and DemiDevimon had been traversing the plains of File Island for about an hour or so without saying anything to one another. Their escape from the snowy region via a new opening in the ground led them to a sunny, vacant savanna. Xander was starting to grow worried about the depressed look on his digital partner?s face. The floating bat kept starting vacantly ahead as his wings carried him on and one, and every few minutes, he would let out a dejected sigh. Xander had brushed it off as a negative effect of the hot weather of the open area, but now he was getting vexed about the state of his friend.

?What is the matter, DemiDevimon?? The youth asked, turning to glance at his low-lying partner but continuing forward nonetheless. Although the bat did not stop, it talked as it labouredly hovered alongside the human.

?I didn?t think I would digivolve like this, Xander. I thought I would be something similar to how I was before, but for some reason, my path is different then it should have been??

?What are you talking about?? Xander asked, genuinely concerned with what his small companion was talking about.

?I was a small ball of fire before, and now I?m a black, hateful bat. I shouldn?t have become this, but I have! I don?t want to digivolve again, Xander. I don?t want the evil to overwhelm me, because I have seen some of the minions of darkness that Digimon like me have turned into.?

?You are talking crazy,? Xander said softly. The youth plucked the weary creature from the sky and hugged him close to his heart, ?in the short time that I have known you, you have been nothing but valiant and kindhearted, so I-?

?But you haven?t seen the Digimon I have! DemiDevimon?s become the most foul, vile, and evil Digimon to exist! I don?t want to be evil!? Xander hushed his erratic friend, and then smiled at the small village he saw in the horizon.

?Listen, DemiDevimon. I have seen some real evil in my world, and trust me?you don?t fit the profile at all. We are what we allow ourselves to become. There are people in my world who have seen man at his worst, and somehow these victims have emerged benevolent, loving characters. They could have locked themselves up in their homes and let the hate consume them. No matter what happens to you, buddy, you will always be yourself. Even if you become what could be considered the pinnacle of evil, you must remember that it?s the inside that counts, not the outside. You are a good, fun loving little dude; so don?t allow your fear to change what you are. You have been bestowed a great meaning in life?you get to grow strong and beat the crap out of bad people!?

?I guess you have a point, Xander,? DemiDevimon muttered halfheartedly. The little bat finally noticed the small village they wear nearing and remarked accordingly, ?I want to hear all about your life when we get some food, because I am ridiculously hungry.?

?No problem, DemiDevimon, I will tell you all you wanna know after we get some sleep,? Both Xander and his partner were smiling now, tiny paths of saliva dripping down from the corner of their mouths? .

"Agh! What the hell are you!?" Matsuo jumped back upon the sight of the fireball, almost falling back into the rushing waters beyond the waterfall. He quickly shot back forward so he wouldn't tumble back in. Blinking every once and awhile, he stared at the strange being. Just stared. There was a talking fireball right in front of his face.

"I'm DemiMeramon! Welcome to the Digital World!" The flame nodded with a homely smile as he repeated his words. The creature approached Matsuo and floated right beside him, holding his expression of happiness. The thing just seemed content with meeting him.

"Digital World? Explain." The Japanese man stated, still shocked by the recent turn of events. "This is all rather confusing. I was just playin' on my computer, pwnin' some noobs on CS, and suddenly...I'm here." Matsuo glanced around him a moment. He was in a beautiful pine forest, on the shore of a large river. A small beach lead up to the grass and into the wild of the area. Around him he saw a few other strange creatures, enough to be called absurd. He looked back at the fireball before him for an answer.
?Well, this is the home of us, the Digimon! We are currently on File Island! It?s great to meet you! I?ve been waiting my entire life just to se your look when you saw me for the very first time! ?Digidestined?? Matsuo inquired. ?I?m destined to be with you I guess that means.? He rolled his eyes at this. ?Well, I do have some uber gaming skills. I guess that?s why.?
?Uber?? The digimon blinked.

?Forget it.? Matsuo scoffed. ?A thing from a digital world not knowing what uber is. Wait?Digital World. Are you telling me all of this is all code? Every single bit of it?? The man looked around in wonder at it all. ?That?s impossible. This is way too complex.?

?What? Code? Everything is made out of code. You mean where are from it isn?t?? DemiMeramon looked at his partner confused.

?I think I want to explore this place now?Say, can you light my cigs?? Matsuo shook off his amazement and dug into his pocket, pulling out a pack of cigarettes.
The snow glistened prettily beneath the sunlight above. Terra looked down at the strange device in her hand while trudging along. Without realizing it she had entered a snowy forest. It was cold, but she kept her mind on the trinket. What was it? Perhaps Snowbotamon would know. Terra had set the little tyke on top of her head; it was as light as a feather and found the folds of her bandanna a suitable bed. Not to mention it was so small, why carry it when it could sit on her head? It made sense.

?Snowbotamon, what is this?? she held to device higher for the Digimon to see.

?That?s your digivice.? it piped up.

?I see?Digimon, Digiworld, Digivice?is there any Digihotels around here?? Terra roller her eyes as she spoke.

?I don?t think so.? it seriously sounded like it was thinking, Terra would have slapped her forehead if it weren?t sitting on her head. This was really bizarre, and she was beginning to get tired.

?I guess we should find shelter or something.? she snapped the strange device onto her belt and reached for Snowbotamon. ?If you?re supposed to protect me, you?re kind of small, aren?t you?? it looked up at her from in her hands, was that sadness? ?Hey I didn?t mean to hurt your feelings, it isn?t the size that counts anyway?? she ran an index finger between its puffy ear stub things. Terra had no idea if it did have ears, maybe it was telepathic.

?Hey look it?s a cave!? she started to job toward the dark opening. ?This?ll be good to rest in for a while.? she stepped in from the cold. It was still daylight out, but she had been walking for some time. There were a few boulders in the cave, Terra sat against one and pulled off her backpack. Snowbotamon bounced on the ground and watched the teen. ?Man I haven?t eaten since supper, I?m, starving.? she pulled out the bag of chips she had successfully pilfered from the kitchen, good thing too. ?I guess this is what I wanted?? she said as an afterthought, slightly solemn.

She ripped open the bag and started to much on the greasy junk food. The small white digimon watched, but remained quiet. Remembering she had company Terra looked down at it. ?Do you eat? Are you hungry?? she finally asked.

?Yes?but I can find food for myself.? was it trying to be modest?

?Suit yourself.? Terra ate another handful of chips and looked away. A few minuets passed and she saw Snowbotamon nearing the edge of the cave. ?Oh come on, get back here, I doubt there?s any food out in that snow.? Happy with that it bounced back toward Terra and right into the bag of chips. ?Don?t eat them all!? she couldn?t help but laugh.

The two companions had been walking on the beach for a while, in almost complete silence. The only sound was of the tide, slowly sweeping sands back and forth. Though Greg did not know where his accomplice was leading him, but felt so overwhelmed by the turn of events that he followed unquestioningly. He was busy taking in the surroundings. The tropical trees that were dotted about were like palms, but far higher, supported by thin little stalks. It seemed to defy all logic. Further out he could see mountains and forests. The man felt an overwhelming urge to explore, but first ...

"We've been walking for ages ... don't you get tired?"

Ryuudamon stopped, turning round. "You're going to be more of a burden than I thought. Alright, we can stop for a bit."

The teenager collapsed onto the soft sand, finding it quite comfortable after walking so long. His Digimon simply dropped into a low crouch, his deep green eyes looking out to sea.
"Yes?"

"Do Digimon eat?"
"Yes."

"So, you've got food?"

The dragon-monster paused as he thought to himself. "No, but if you like I can go kill something."

Greg shook his head. "I'm a vegetarian."

"Why? You need meat to keep yourself strong."

The teenager shrugged. "I would have agreed with you a few years ago. I didn't think killing things was right, exactly, but that it was necessary. But my brother showed me it was possible to be perfectly healthy without eating meat. So I couldn't keep on fooling myself after that. I thought it would be difficult, but I hardly had to go out of my way."

Ryuudamon gave a low, uninterpretable growl. "I don't suppose I can change your mind." There was a short silence, then the Digimon spoke again. "I know a diner up ahead. Not exactly the best place, but they serve vegetarian food. We can stock up there."
