So, like the title says, let's just write. There are some aspects of the game that we're going to hold onto for flavor and pseudo-balance reasons, but I don't think anyone is really worried about that too much. Basically, what we're gonna be doing is just removing the XP costs for Custom Techs and Techniques. People will still be limited to two Abilities, but that's about it.

Now, what we can hopefully avoid is having someone doing stupid shit like giving themselves a Custom Tech that instantly kills someone or destroys a planet or... y'know... stuff like that. We'd also like to avoid someone just going from nothing to SSJ3 in a single fight. You want to use a power-up for some kind of cool character development? Awesome. Just don't be lame about it.

Rosters can still be replied to and edited by the people who own those posts, so you can go ahead and do that. I'm going to keep the Custom Tech Pricing thread open so if people want suggestions or feedback on threads, they can do that. If you want to spitball ideas on this forum, I welcome it.

Basically, we just want people to be able to make and write their characters, at this point. Now, that said, we're not just giving everyone carte blanche. Staff still reserves the right to veto something. Hopefully, though, we won't have to and people will just enjoy writing.

You guys may have noticed some big changes around here.

The Chubbs community is now a Hub, and CDBZRPG is now a Node on that Hub. It will still receive updates and an active staff according to its activity.

The move is meant to be one toward greater member freedom and choice. No doors have been closed in this transition, but a number have been opened. Anyone may start their own Node, on nearly any subject you wish: zombies, college sports drama, organized crime families in Philadelphia in the 1960s, vampires in the year 2060, high fantasy, low fantasy, science fiction, the list is endless.

With this change from Chubbs as a single RPG, to Chubbs as a Hub of many RPGs, the Staff has changed form. Some members will be kept on as Hub Staff, who handle the general management of the Chubbs Hub, as well as organizing hub-wide events, and handling issues on the node-level at the request of a node leader. Each Node will have its own staff, appointed and handled by the node-creator. You do not need to be a member of the Hub Staff to be a node-creator, or a member of a node's staff.

Over the years, we have had many reflections on the CDBZRPG system. There's a lot of creativity here (both in terms of storyline, and game mechanics), and there are also disagreements on fundamental, mechanical issues (for which there is no 'right' answer). With this node system, we can take these differences beyond one-off topics in the QSU forum, and have them be sketched out in a working, community RPG. We can see what works and what doesn't, and we can all incorporate those discoveries into future projects.

It's a new thing, and as with all innovation, there will be kinks. We haven't found all of the weirdnesses yet. But we expect this to be a particularly vibrant, new era of Chubbs, of greater creative freedom for all members, where any idea, if solid and well-liked, can rise to the top.

The most important reason for this is to ensure that the correct terminology between “Jobs” and “Quests” is being used. They are not “Job Quests,” they are either a Job, or a Quest, not both.
In efforts to improve our customer service in the Updates forum, staff has decided to allow people to take care of their own character biographies. Members will now be able to reply to their own Rosters (Rosters, not Training Threads) to post their character biographies, and have permission to edit them indefinitely. This means that once you post, you can edit it to your heart’s content without a timer. In doing so, you the member have one less thing you need to wait on staff to do. Hopefully, this will encourage more members to be active in their character’s background information. The more thorough you are, the better grasp everyone else can have on your character, which helps improve group or saga role-playing, and helps us get a little more interested in other stories! Here are a couple examples of some great biographies:

Alura
Kaden
Piper
Sage

These are just a few, as there are other awesome biographies.

During this process, we also changed some of the forum permissions. Any and all IC forums will be unable to edit their posts after they make them, including the OOC sub-forums in sagas. So be sure to double-check your posts before you make them, because after they’re up, that’s that. This also ensures that XP is being awarded correctly, whether it is due to people short-changing themselves by adding content, or inflating their counts by removing content.

We also will not take kindly to people whom post on other character’s Roster threads. Disciplinary action will occur on a first offense. Treat it exactly like you would in the Updates forum: stay in your own thread!

There is some kind of random glitch involved, and we do not know why, but we do know it to be a culprit of double-posting. In order to help prevent this, all posters and role-players are strongly recommended to hit "Go Advanced > Submit Reply" instead. It only takes a couple of extra seconds, and will save everyone time and hassle for the adjustment of XP, the deletion of the offending post, and figuring out any discrepancies as a result. Hopefully, we will see a reduction in the amount of double-post fix requests.
I’m both proud and pleased to announce that after our initial attempt, and then a revival of that attempt through months of collaborated effort, that it’s finally here. You can call it a turnover, you can call it whatever you want, but it’s here.

As of this post, we are now a 100% custom RPG, and our system will be incredibly different. There is a full set of rules that are now available to you explaining all of these changes. These rules go for everybody. If there are any questions, feel free to ask and Rad or myself will fill in the details.

A lot of you are no doubt prepared for this and ready to begin at this very moment, so you’re more than welcome to follow the official procedure and post your roster for submission in the Joining forum, and a staff member will get to it as quickly as possible. Character Bios will also be accepted, and they will go underneath your roster. Though we’ve already seen a few of your selected images for your characters, please present them in the Artistic Interpretation thread so we can officially “register” them as belonging to your character. Once you select an image that is the general theme you need to follow. For example, one member has posted a pic of a girl with pink hair. His character should then always be a girl with pink hair, whether he uses the exact same person in those pictures or not.

I’d also like to extend a tremendous thank you to everyone who was involved in this project, past or present. It would not have been accomplished without each and every one of you. Your ideas, creativity, and determination to make a better RPG have been truly appreciated, and with it, I believe we have made a place that in one way or another will be enjoyable for all. We’ll definitely give you all a call again when we have the next big project on our hands.

So, without further ado, welcome to the next generation of Chubbs.

So, a few of you may have noticed that the Information Vault has gotten a little bigger overnight. Hopefully most of you knew it was there in the first place. Well, we've decided to move our main page directly onto the forum, and we put everything in the Information Vault. Everything should be divided into nice, neat sub-forums so things are easy to find.

What you may also notice is that some of the information is either out of date or incomplete. We're working on getting all of that corrected, so please bear with us and consider the Information Vault "under construction" at this present time, but know that progress is being made. As always, any questions or suggestions are welcome in the appropriate forum.

Thank you.
