"There's been another murder!"

With a grunt, Elder Anastious Guillermo motioned for one of the nearby men to try and silence the crier before he started another panic throughout the village. Unfortunately, the growing crowd indicated that it was probably too late to contain the matter. As the man ducked down beneath the door frame, the elder turned his attention to the mangled body that lie on the floor of the cottage. Just like the last five murders, the victim had been bound with rope and brutally stabbed. Smears of drying blood stained the stone floors and wooden walls of the small structure. The terror in the old woman's eyes conveyed more emotion than the scene of gore around her broken body.

"Elder."

Anastious glanced across the room at one of his young assistants, who had been scouring the rest of the quaint home for any clues. "What is it, Johan?"

"It's just like the other murders." To sell his point, Johan produced a small metal box from inside a rather mundane-looking crate. It took Anastious but a moment to notice that the locking mechanism had been smashed, but even still, his assistance popped open to box to reveal its contents. "Everything has been stolen."

"Why steal an old woman trinkets?" At every other crime, something of value had been taken from the scene, usually jewelry or old family jewels. As far as Anastious understood, the worth of the items didn't seem to justify such violent murders.

Despite the fact that each murder had been coupled with thefts, there were far too many individuals in Eisenhardt that blamed the crimes on monsters. Even through the other elders tried to calm the populace, there was only so much they could do to quell the superstitious minds of the people, many of whom were incapable of reading or writing their own names.

With a shrug of his broad shoulders, the member of the town's Elder Council rose to his feet and called over a rather grim-looking set of men. "Would you two mind wrapping Matilda up and prepping the pyre for her?" The two men, who were members of Elder Wynam's old tribe, nodded their heads and set about bundling the gnarled corpse up in cloth.

"Would you like me to do anything, Elder?"

Anastious, with a frown on his face as he watched one of the men wrap up the woman's smashed skull, turned to his assistant. "Just try and prevent people from overreacting too much, Johan." It seemed like only yesterday that the village had calmed down from the last murder-theft. Johan, with an equally grim look on his face, nodded his head and followed Elder Guillermo out of the cottage.

Outside the cottage, a group of about twenty-five people, nearly a third of the villages population, had already gathered. With a heavy sigh, Johan put on his best faux smile and waded into the fray.

Story Guide: Piper Juunanagou

Setting: The town of Eisenhardt and its surrounding forests.

The Pull: The above town, a primarily human settlement, has experienced a string of murders and thefts in the recent weeks. Some claim foul beasts are afoot, while others claim the acts are those of brigands living in the nearby 'Green Sea' (a poorly mapped forest). The Player Character, either a resident of Eisenhardt or someone living nearby, is drawn to this drama. Whether they are attracted to see justice or by the thought of finding the stolen goods, we do not know.

Limitations: All PCs must be locals to the area. Preferred that all PCs are 'Humans
Please post only character sheets in this thread, there will be a separate thread for discussion/questions.
(This is intended to be an introduction/test run for this. It will last no longer than 14 days. If it is not resolved by then, due to inactivity/laziness, the story will be ended. If it is still 'going strong,' I will let it run its course).

A Writer (not to be confused with a PC) may accumulate 'Renown' over the course of numerous instances.

---

"How do I earn renown, Aru-san?" - Well that's simple. At the conclusion of each instance, I will create an out-of-character thread dedicate to the purpose of giving members an opportunity to constructively discuss one another's writing. This can include grammar, style, character construction, and plot direction (and, you know, whatever else).

All discussion must remain positive. Even if you think someone did a terrible job with their character or writes like an 'r-tard,' you need to phrase it in such a way that helps them and doesn't make you sound like an a-hole. This 'End-Game Discussion' thread will remain open until the beginning of the next Instance. At that time, everyone who gave constructive input to their fellow Writers will receive a value of Renown between 1 and 5. Writers will receive at least 1 Renown for any degree of input, even if it's just to say "Hey, man, I really liked your character and think you did a great job with X, Y, and Z." You can be generic with your praise, but you at least need to show you read it by citing an example or two.

On top of receiving Renown for providing constructive feedback, all Writers will receive 1 to 3 Renown for participating in the Instance. Therefore, it is possible to acquire up to 8 Renown per Instance.

---

"Okay, I have some points...what do I do with these?" - As you may be aware, there is no stat system in this game. Instead of bolstering your PCs' attributes, Renown will affect the character creation process. At the beginning of an Instance, a writer may 'spend' Renown to enhance their character's in-game station.

As mentioned earlier in the information, all characters should come from some common, lowly (or otherwise non-influential station). Renown allows you to make characters who carry more importance, whether its economic, political, or otherwise. There is no flow chart for how spending Renown works--it's a 'basis by basis' deal.

Whether you choose to spend it or not, a sort of 'lifetime' renown will accumulate for all Writers. Lifetime Renown cannot be spent and these values will be listed in the form of a leader board and many accolades shall be had by all.
